The Bottom Line reviews
18 The Bottom Line is a nice bar without unique features but with good food and pretty wide assortment of beers.
Service
It will depend on certain waiter but we were lucky to have a nice gentleman serving us. It was perfect attention level, not too much and not too few. He couldn't answer all my questions about beer or food details. But it didn't matter to me. 5/5
Interior
The bar has both counter seats and tables. So you will definitely find the most comfortable option to sit. Decorations are usual and can't impress you at all. 3/5
Food
Food wise it will be choice between classical entries (burgers, wraps, sandwiches) and common bar snacks. Kitchen works till 10 pm. Food is very good here. 4/5
Drinks, beer
Any the most popular cocktails and about 30+ beers are available for order here. You will find classic beer selection and some exotic ones as well. Which makes this place very appealing for beer lovers. 5/5
The food was delicious and the service was great. There was a bit of a wait for the food due to a printer error but it was worth it. I had the burger with Swiss and bacon and it was cooked exactly as I had ordered it. The fries were nice and crispy and had the right amount of seasoning. I'm sure I'll be back in the future.
Had a delicious "Heidenburger" with everything on it. I should have gotten some of our group to enjoy the evening from the outdoor seating - the energy inside made conversation hard.
We sat at the bar. Chuck and Beatriz were our bartenders. They were very friendly. Chuck's bartending/serving style is top notch. This spot was extremely clean, including the floor, bar area, and the bar mats.
I ordered a French onion soup. It came out fast and was delicious.
Got the mother clucker, but was a lackluster sandwich. Tasted a little like fish, but that might be due to a shared fryer. Fries were good.
The bartender was great and the service is good, cool waiters. Top of my fish sandwich was cold and the fries are cut so thin they get cold witching a couple minutes. Seasoning has a little too much spice for my liking. Par.
Visited this pub many times over the years. Good atmosphere. Never crowded. Had quesadilla and beer. And French fries. Quite tasty. Not very expensive. Very Decent place to eat in downtown DC.
I would call this an almost unknown dive bar but only because it is below street level. The service was outstanding and the food was great. I don't really want to advertise it so it stays uncrowded for us to visit again. But you should really check it out.
Thanks for a quick and easy lunch that was just as tasty.
Great old school bar in DC. Came here in my college days, so it was great to see that not much has changed since then.
Just came in for a drink but ended up staying for a few.
This place really needs to be a historical site!
Don't sleep on this place! After a day of touring the city, our last stop was the White House. We decided to stop and eat a late lunch here and it was great! The staff was super friendly and the food was great!
The staff here were very very very nice and kind. I am visiting here from Vermont and came on a Monday night. It was not very busy but it should have been. The food here is the best in the world. IF YOU ARE IN THIS AREA YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS FOOD. It is just so so so so good. 10000000/10 would recommend. I would eat here every single night if I lived here. Like I said before, the staff is AMAZING and the food is SPECTACULAR.
This is a favorite lunch spots my colleagues and I have been going to for 20 years. The world passes by upstairs outside the door. This is where we choose to meet for lunch. Good bar. Pub food.
Great dive bar in DC. Serves a reasonable range of craft beer on tap. Had some food there - tacos and burritos (they do burgers etc too) and it was very fresh and tasty. Music is a bit loud so conversation difficult unless you are right next to someone at the bar. Happy atmosphere the couple of times we went and the service was very good.
We were fortunate to discover the best bar in DC. Unpretentious and friendly atmosphere and the bartenders are amazing at making you feel welcome. Food is good and the prices are reasonable. Obviously a well kept secret among the locals who just want to shed the politics, chill and have a great time. Can’t wait to return. Cheers to the guys behind the bar and thanks for making us feel welcome during our visit.
Phenomenal experience. Food was really good, got the regular burger. Friend ripped his pants on the chair and waiter was so concerned and made sure he was taken care of. 10/10 would recommend
There was no phone service because it's downstairs but they had free wifi. Their happy hour extends past 6pm so that was cool.
Visited on Sunday around 6pm. Surprisingly not busy at all! Great atmosphere with holiday decorations for meeting friends and having a conversation (we stopped by another place that had terribly loud music and was crowded.
Food we ordered was very good. I would rate it 5. Only minus, wished to have more choices and desserts. But it was a great basic menu and everything tested great. Service was perfect. Quick and nice. Staff came regularly to ask whether we needed anything else.
The hidden gem you are looking for. Very low key but the bar atmosphere is neat, food is nice and prices are super affordable - especially for this part of DC. Oh and they ain't kidding about that burger
