It's not a NJ diner, but it will do on those late nights you are out in DC. I probably wouldn't go here in the daytime for breakfast/brunch; it's more of a 2am stop on the weekends.

Great 24 hour diner that’s hard to find so it gets a good rating just for their endurance. Wilfredo is a ball of energy and welcomes you each time even after being here all night. I had the breakfast burrito and it was wonderful but the menu has all the breakfast offerings including biscuits & gravy, omelettes, Eggs Benedict French toast and pancakes. I asked for the sauce (spicy) that goes on top of the burrito to be put on the side but it’s normally beautifully decorated. The coffee was good $ fresh.

Update: Please, please, please have pickles on the menu. Please. It's two five gallon buckets, one of chips and one of spears.

After a decade of coming here, there is a feeling of consistency despite many menu and staffing changes, a few atmospheric changes, and some inconsistent food quality. It doesn't feel strictly like a diner but it certainly feels like The Diner. The newish POS seems to help with efficiency. The menu is mostly hits with only a few misses. This is a good place to just relax a while, or pass through quickly, or hang out with friends, or get drunk, or recover from getting drunk. There is a sense of belonging and familiarity here. While it sounds like I'm describing any diner, this one has a vibe all its own.maybe due to its central location. I wish service was a little faster but The Diner is definitely a place worth checking out.

The team made a lot of noise at the bar.
They took my salt & paper shakers mid dinner to clean them. No hot souce in the bottle.
I will not come back.

Took a nice walk and drove around the capitol this morning. After developing an appetite, I began my weekend breakfast hunt. Found this spot on maps, I desired some biscuits and gravy this morning. Great service, Wilfredo was courteous and considerate, made sure that the food was delivered to the table in a timely manner, and would routinely follow up with the table. In addition, I brought someone off the streets to purchase some food for them, and he was not judgmental. He was compassionate to the needs of the person, and you could see he was sincere in consideration of the person's welfare. The ambience provides comfortable setting arrangements, a clean restroom, and the entire staff is kind.

Definitely upgrade the veggie omelette I use to get as a college student. And the cup of coffee was amazing.

Smothered steak, French toast and burger upon arrival at DC. We were checking out a trendy side of town and got hungry. This place delivered and unexpectedly good food! All while getting an ice cold alcohol libation!

While there with friends we had a waiter who tried to threaten us with calling the Health Department because we had brought a small bag of food in from another location. He gave us erroneous claims and made what was just an end to a nice evening a bit uncomfortable and disrespectful. We spent a good deal of money with a party of 7 all ordering. The situation could have been handled better and once the waiter realized that we was told to go ahead and call the health department he then escalated the situation to a manager who tried to calmly resolve the situation and diffuse the incredibly rude treatment to paying customers. It was not only embarrassing how we were spoken to unnecessarily but I couldn’t fully enjoy my meal and do not intend on going back. I had so many good experiences there over the last 20 years and that long standing reliance on good food and service was ruined in one interaction.

My girlfriend got the steak and eggs and the steak was clearly cooked wrong and just unappealing to eat. It took us 15 minutes to get a menu or water or silverware too.

Do you ever eat somewhere and think about the food you ate for hours, days, months, years, like a long lost lover? The milkshake from the DINER is that long lost lover for me. I had the peanut butter milkshake, emphasis on the peanut butter. It brought me back to my childhood (in a good way). It cured my depression. Angels sung when it touched my tongue. I am pretty sure I had a religious experience in that diner, sipping that milkshake at 11: 30pm.

The food was excellent too! We had breakfast so I can't speak to lunch or dinner stuff, but I'd confidently order anything from here. Everything was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, overall 1000000/10 meal. Service was excellent and I loved the environment too. Definitely go here if you want breakfast, vibes, and a transcendental milkshake experience.

The breakfast meal was pretty good and the staff pretty nice and attentive as well. Definitely will return when back in the area.

Bad service of the waiters. Food is extremely overpriced. They take a lot of time to serve the food.
I can’t resist sharing a bad experience I had in this outlet. I went there along with 10-12 friends. All of us were Asian and Colombian. After eating, we were waiting to pay and leave. But none of the waiters paid any attention. In fact, they were busy in talking with white girls in another table. Those girls were all white. Even after calling them for 7-8 times, the guy didn’t give any damn. He seemed to be flirting with some white girls in that table. This way, he killed our time around 20 minutes and disappointed totally.

Food is good, just over priced for what it is. One server was kinda rude to me and she messed up a couple orders at the table and the food and drinks took forever to come out and they were only at half capacity. Probably won’t come again.

Worst food I've had so far in DC. Got the crab dip, which my friend and I each took a single bite of, and then could not have any more. It was really repulsive, and it's so hard to mess up crab dip. We also got the fried chicken and French toast, which was tolerable to have a few bites but, famished, we couldn't finish it. Her drink, which I didn't try, she said was extremely weak.

Can't recommend. Spent $54 to be as hungry as I was when I got there, when I left. Horrible experience. Server was kind, but after we explained how we couldn't finish the food, the restaurant still left it on the bill.
