I would rather pay extra and stay at another hotel. Small rooms, bugs in elevator, beds were uncomfortable, housekeeping doesn't have an inside voice. At 8am they were talking amongst themselves pretty much screaming in the hallway each morning. It's like they were unaware how early it was and that people sleep past 8am. Banging on room doors yelling "Are you checking out today" 12 noon is checkout and they started this at 8am. Find another hotel to stay at for a more pleasent experience.

The room was nice but couldn’t relax you had a dog barking early in the morning and late at night. Waiting to get ice from the front desk was horrible. I should have went to 7 eleven or brought a cooler with me the fridge was barely cold.

The hotel itself is nice, clean, and quiet. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location is great, and was perfect for walking to/from our conference.

The WiFi connection however was absolutely nonexistent. I could not get connected to be able to do any work. If you need to be able to get work done from your room, look elsewhere.

Room was in disrepair and every noise from the kitchen could be heard, including staff yelling. It was not a great experience overall. Stay at the Hilton across the street, it's worth the extra money to sleep somewhere pleasant.

Two friends of mine just got back from DC, they were supposed to stay in The Normandy for a convention this weekend. Upon arrival they were told that the hotel's parking garage was full. Being Labor Day weekend there was no street parking and no available public lots nearby. Since there was no where to leave the car they were forced to just drive the 5 hours back home. They told the hotel (at the hotel's request) that they were bringing a vehicle so this was not unexpected. They simply failed to account for how many vehicles would need to park. They offered no recourse and so, they're back home and have missed their vacation. I do not recommend anyone stay here lest your vacation be abruptly canceled. I was so angry at having heard this story I had to write this review. GM, I hope the night audit told you the real reason why guests canceled their reservation upon arrival and what solutions were offered.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! This place is a hot mess! The elevator does not work and the door to our room stopped working so we were locked out, the front desk lady was supposed to leave a note that it was not working and never did. It is now midnight and we can’t get into it! Pay the extra and stay at the Hilton! The complementary wine hour is a joke, it was not set up nor a priority for the front desk.

Came into town for a weekend to visit a friend. The hotel was fairly priced. Customer service excellent. Accommodation was comfortable and unique. Hotel's location is perfect. Would recommend to short term travelers in DC.

Great hotel at a really good DC price! Rooms and bathrooms were fantastic, clean, well designed. Staff (particularly Tai) were super friendly and helpful and went out of their way for a favor I asked of them.

Four stars instead of five only because the continental breakfast bar was pretty awful (they could use some higher quality items) and because the elevator was smelly and needed an upgrade.

Yes, it’s an old building, and they’ve done a really nice job of refurbishing it. But when you step into an ugly old elevator, it really detracts from the impression of the place and makes you realize what it must have looked like before.

Nonetheless we would definitely stay there again, as the price/value can’t be beat in DC.

Tips for guests with cars: The hotel offers parking for $45/night, which is a normal rate in DC. But there’s neighborhood parking for free if you’re willing to drive around for a block or two. Just make sure you read the signs, as many spots are two hours only starting at 7AM, which means you need to move the car by 9AM to another spot. Not a big deal since residents who drive to work move their cars before 9 anyway.

The hotel was nicely decorated but showed its age and is in need of updates. Staff were inviting and easy to work with but were unprofessional at times. The complimentary happy hour was a nice added touch. If you are in D. C.for sightseeing this hotel may serve your purpose. However, guests should be aware that the WiFi connectivity and cell service inside the hotel were both non-existent. I would suggest avoiding this hotel if you are traveling for business.

Do not stay at this hotel. Save your money and stay elsewhere.
I stayed here and had so many issues. Got stuck in the elevator which was consistently malfunctioning daily, poor internet connection, mouldy smell in the bathroom, and more.
Avoid at all costs.

Beautiful hotel. Super comfortable (firm) bed. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff (especially Lashawn at the front desk). Only complaint was the spotty/nonexistent wifi in the room (but great connection in the lobby).

My husband and I were taking a honeymoon road trip through the sights of DC. We stayed two nights at Normandy and were speechless! The location is amazing for the price (only a 10-15 min Lyft ride to the central areas [costing about $20]). Within walking distance of amazing local restaurant's and shops.staff were amazing and accommodating.

My room was located at the worst place of the hotel. On the ground floor, at the end of a corridor overlooking a courtyard without light, and especially smelling of humidity. The scent was worst and worst. The last night, as I went to bed, I walked on the carpet. It was totally wet, probably because of an AC leak. The team was very welcoming and helpful. What a bummer that the room was so bad.

I was there with a large group July 13-17,2023. The AC in my room, as well as for several others in our group, didn’t work; we were given fans, which tells me management knows about the problem and hasn’t bothered to fix it. DC is HOT in the summer so we got very little relief from the heat after long days of touring and visiting.

There is no restaurant at the hotel; be prepared to walk to restaurants several blocks away. The breakfast is expensive for what is offered, but there are no nearby options. We used UberEats one night and ate in the breakfast area, which worked great, well worth the charge, and our food was hot when it arrived.

There are no vending machines, no way to refill personal water bottles other than the bathroom faucet. Bottled water is available by request at the front desk.
