The Roasted Boon Co., Washington DC

Their to-go cups have a very unpleasant odor - which makes their coffee undrinkable. Also, this is NOT a third wave coffee shop.

Picked up a pound of just-roasted Yirgacheffe beans from this new-ish cafe. Took them home and enjoyed thoroughly the next morning. Sweet, balanced, and beautiful espresso! That’s a sure sign of good-quality beans and good roasting practices. Looking forward to trying the Rwandan beans next. The manager, Smret, was very kind and hospitable! We’ll be back for more.

Semret runs an amazing gem here - the coffee is roasted on site and the Eritrean tea is deliciously, warmly spiced.

Pastries are fresh, mimosas are $3, the coffee is fresh, what more can you ask for?

On Sundays, swing by for the coffee ceremony, I'll definitely be coming back for it.

It's hard to get hot Bagel and I hate the butter is on the side and is hard. The coffee was good. Service was quick.

Very nice looking coffee shop, but a little too pricey in my opinion. The staff were okay. There was no brown sugar either. Some people, like me, prefer raw brown sugar. I was happy to see that there was a recycling bin, but biodegradable plastic utensils would be a great addition as well. The decor was lovely, but it was hard to take pictures, because they are placed in areas where people sit. Good coffee shop overall, though.

I had a really delicious caramel macchiato, I didn’t even need to add sugar for my sweet tooth! The bacon egg and cheese croissant was so soft and delicious. It didn’t crumble a lot like other places. The best perk: the friendly staff and it’s across from the skate park

This is a great coffee spot in the Shaw District of Washington DC. They are Eritrean and they know coffee. We learned that a "boon" is a type of ceremony similar to a high tea. Instead of coffee I had a spicy chai which was delicious! I stopped here as a part of the Shaw District Walking Tour led by Nate Harpe of Truth Be Told.

Tried the Shaw Latte. It was good. However, it was nothing out of the ordinary. It tasted like any other latte.

Great atmosphere! A little small so may be difficult to find space to work/eat. Wish the menu was more expansive. Drinks were good though!

This is an awesome neighborhood coffee shop. Reminds me of when I lived in Ethiopia, I think the owners are Eritrean. Great coffee and smoothies. Sometimes a bit understaffed but just be patient - it's a really nice place to hang out and work and it's dog friendly!

Friendly service, good Mocha, comfortable seating by the large windows - let's in lots of light when you want to sit and read

I love the vibe, the tables give it a nice rustic feeling. Wall art is good too.

I found it very disappointing that the roasted boon is very little concerned with the environment. I was staying in and all beverages have been served in a plastic coated mug with lids on and the sandwich was provided in a styrofoam containers. I don't think it would be that difficult to use materials that are better to recycle or wash.

Otherwise the products sold are of good quality and service is lovely.

The chai latte with almond milk was creamy and had just the right amount of spice. A cool local spot to get your fix, place also has nice seating with a street corner offering a pleasant busy vibe

The staff was so rude and unwelcoming- they made me feel like I should turn around and walk out. I wish I had. The lady made me feel so badly for being there, she threw my receipt at me and rolled her eyes when I picked up my coffee. I literally wanted to cry.

Iced Chai latte and bagel, it was good but honestly the prices are a little steep but worth it.the vibes are nice

Good little coffee shop with a nice open space for getting work done or just relaxing. Outdoor seating also available.
