The Third Rail, Washington DC

The steak wasn't that good at all but the sides were well put together. Overpriced for the quality of food we received.

Overall it was underwhelming. I believe they were understaffed when we were here because we had two people waiting us and they were not in sync. They forgot to take our order after we ordered drinks and an appetizer, i actually had to ask if we could place our order. Plus, it took quite a while for our beverages and appetizer to arrive. I believe the meatball appetizer was somewhat raw which was surprising considering the outside was crunchy. I ordered the steak incorrectly so I will not be reviewing that but everything we ordered was very well presented.

Wow. This is a Hilton Harden Inn Restaurant that definitely sticks out. Very friendly staff. And surprising food quality with a chef who comes to the tables to make sure things work perfectly well. This was a great nice treat and I have to say that you do not expect this quality in a Hilton Garden Inn. You definitely have to try the restaurant if you stay in the hotel.

The food was very good, but the service was great! Scottie was kind and available, and our waitress Nitporn cracked jokes and created a very friendly atmosphere. Patrick, the chef, came out to greet us personally so that we could compliment the food. It was New Year’s Eve, so I’m sure the restaurant was understaffed and stressed, regardless they treated us very well, above and beyond.

Nice place inside the Hilton. The food was good, although it's a slightly limited menu. Our server was very nice as well. She was very friendly to our two small boys.

Pass. They had only a handful of entrees and due to a fryer issue, they couldn't even do a couple of those. The positive is that the wings they ended up baking for me, although taking a really long time were tasty. But my dinner never came. They could only offer substitutes for things that weren't even close. The manager did come by voluntarily and offer to comp a second drink for us. But I had only planned to come out and have one drink with dinner. The waitress may have been very new, or at least I hope. The kitchen was trying the best they could to work down equipment. But thinking outside the box wasn't their specialty. I could have gone there again but I took a taxi out after that and never ate there again on my 6 day trip.

Menu updated (see photos). Meal surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant. Large seating area for small number of dinner guests (fills up at breakfast.) You could come here even if you're not a hotel guest and you'd still be pleased.

The bartender, ROBERT, treated us all extremely well this evening. Fantastic beverages and service. Made some custom beverages and took professional attention to detail. Outstanding!

Mixed review.
The mostly good:
Small hotel bar, nice bartender. Margheritas tasted pretty good, if small-sized. Ordered NY strip ($38) w mashed potatoes, spinach, and mushrooms. All the veggies were super delicious, small portions though (apparently a theme?)
The disappoining part:
Speaking as a devoted, lifelong carnivore, worst steak I had in a decade. Ordered it medium rare, it arrived colored GRAY, cooked medium *well, * and full of unedible gristle. Hey chef, when steak comes out gray your heat's too low, hello. C'mon people - even Outback and Golden Corral make meat better than this. Definitely not worth $38. Ugh.
Doubt I'll be back.

Ambience is good. Breakfast spread is nice. There seemed to be lot of confusion regarding happy hour!

Our waitress was amazing and super sweet. Got the Ceasar salad with salmon and it was really good. Little expensive, but better than the other options in the area. The burgers were also good and tasty.
