The memorial is located on the Tidal Basin and is known for its stunning neoclassical architecture. Inside, you’ll find a bronze statue of Jefferson and excerpts from his writings. It’s a peaceful spot, especially during the cherry blossom season in the spring.

We went around 10: 30 am on a weekday and we’re able to enjoy the memorial and it’s picturesque grounds. We trekked it on foot and then wakes to the FDR and MLK memorias within a mile walking distance.

It's a mighty memorial! Unfortunately, they were doing some construction work at the time of our visit, but we were still able to see Jefferson standing tall and keeping an eye on the Whitehouse!
We almost didn't have time to see this one, but we're very glad we got to squeeze it in! It's cool seeing all these monuments and landmarks in person! Film and television just don't do them justice!

25 minutes walk from the Washington monument. Nice to see and especially fun to walk around the water during the day. Here are more sights to see. Walking around the water will take about an hour. If you don't have much time, I would skip this and walk around the Mall (and the white house), which is already a nice walk.

Maintenance and construction (Aug 2023).
The path to the memorial is long from the road. Esp. With construction it's a little troubling. Once you reach to the footsteps of the memorial it's simply awesome. What a majestic statue. We we lucky to overhear a tour guide explain the memorial and the writings on the walls. The design of the memorial is loosely based on Roman Pantheon. The status itself is made of bronze and is about 19" tall. The memorial is built with marbles and granite. Parking is extremely hard. Take a shared ride instead

A little off the beaten path, but well worth it to spend a few minutes honoring this important American forefather. Particularly impressive at night.

Beautiful monument overlooking the lake and the Whitehouse. Some parts of area under construction. Still good place to visit.

Everything is beautiful, even though it is under reconstruction, they are very careful to maintain the beauty of the place

Undergoing construction but beautiful! We did a photo shoot and keep in mind you are not allowed to have professional lighting.

Perfect place to spend a summer evening. Though I’m told the cherry blossom season is amazing too.

Currently under construction on one side and you had to walk through about 3 inches deep of water to get through.

Humbling experience to say the least. When you're in DC you should definitely stop by and witness the greatness of this memorial. I cannot say much that has not already been said, just come and see it yourself.

National Park Service guided tour at 5 pm (daily) was great-the young man giving the tour was an engaging speaker and touched on many aspects of the memorial and Jefferson's life and legacy. I appreciated the historical criticism he offered. He took questions afterwards about all the memorials in Washington.

Very nice place to visit…Thomas Jefferson, a spokesman for democracy, was an American Founding Father, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776), and the third President of the United States (1801–1809).

Very impressive monument and fantastic view, both from this monument, but also as a recognizable point. The distances are a bit disappointing when walking: it is further than you think…

I had an incredible experience visiting the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. The grandeur of the memorial's architecture against the backdrop of the Tidal Basin is awe-inspiring. Standing beneath the towering statue of Jefferson, I couldn't help but reflect on his profound contributions to American democracy. The serene setting and the words of the Declaration of Independence etched into the walls made me appreciate the enduring values of liberty and equality. It's a must-visit for anyone interested in American history and a beautiful spot to contemplate the nation's founding principles!
