This is the iconic US capitol building. The grandeur of the building is awe-inspiring, and you can even book an inside tour.

Always a good experience and a good moment to reflect on the sacrifices and decisions that had to be made by our historical leadership. Amazing opportunity to walk the kids through this very special place

It is an honor to visit the building that houses the United States Congress, which is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate Chamber.

Let’s start with the negative: I did not like carving “Expansion to the wild West, ” where they portray Indigenous people as wild, devilish, and inhuman. That should be removed from the wall.
Positives: Great architecture, especially inside the Dome. I really liked the atmosphere inside. We were using guide headphones and found a lot of useful information. You can use numbers to track artifacts. I am definitely impressed by Hellenic and neoclassical architecture, and that is mesmerizing. Then we headed to National Statuary Hall, where you can find a lot of catchy stories about prominent Americans. Yes, that place is one of the must-visits in Washington DC.

There’s nothing much I can say about the US Capitol besides it’s a magnificent building. You can reserve a ticket for the tour online (which is hard to get) or you can just walk up. But be prepared to wait. You can also visit the Library of Congress from the Capitol.

Visited on 12/27/2023. Very cool place. Lots of history and you get what you want out of it. Be sure to get passes to the library of congress, which we were to late to get when we found out we needed passes.

Still a very good visit. Highly recommended.

The Capitol Hill building stands as an architectural masterpiece, blending neoclassical design with symbolic elements. Its history is rich, serving as the seat of the U. S. Congress since 1800. The tours offer a fascinating journey through the legislative process, providing insight into the nation's governance. The intricate details of the Rotunda and Statuary Hall make the experience both educational and awe-inspiring. Book tours online before heading out there.
There’s paid street and garage parking nearby. The parking lot right in front is only for officials.
At night, there’s no crowd if you want to enjoy the architecture. You can park right in front of the building parking lot and take a stroll. There’s security 24x7 even if you can’t see personals around, so don’t do anything stupid.

Washington is one of those places that you don't regret visiting and having the opportunity to visit, to see the Capitol up close is really cool. We also scheduled a guided tour in Brazil to see the Capitol from the inside. It was a very interesting experience. The place is beautiful, we were very well received and it is really worth it. The tip is, if you are driving, be careful and look for a place to park first, because even on the street, it is very difficult to find a space and in paid parking lots, it is not usually cheap. But at the Capitol, the visit is free of charge. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely do the tour while you are in town. It's a bit anticlimactic since you don't get to see the chambers, but seeing the rotunda is pretty cool.
