The people at Universal Floors Inc know what they’re doing and can do a great job, but be prepared to constantly contact them in order to get things moving/done.

I needed a custom job done so I called a few different flooring companies. When I called Universal Floors Inc, I spoke with Sprig and he felt the most personable/knowledgeable. It took a few weeks to finally get someone to come look at my floor in person despite calling multiple times. When they came out they gave me a quote that was more than double what Sprig’s initial estimate was. I asked why it was so different and he said he would give me the price of his estimate. It took a few days to get this contract despite calling multiple times again. Their lack of communication/initiative was extremely frustrating.

This being said, the actual work they did was great. They were able to replace a few boards that had been stained almost perfectly in a timely manner. It took about a week to put the new boards in after taking them out.

I would recommend Universal Floors Inc if you’re willing to constantly contact them in order to get work done.

My rep and the installer performed as promised from start to finish. Excellent work as described - installing new wood to match existing wood very successfully. They go the extra mile in responsiveness to issues large and small. Our floors look terrific.

I just want to let you know that I selected Universal
Floors to refinish my kitchen floor and want to tell you what a wonderful job they did=-just like that of 35 years ago when Universal refinished the floors of my whole house. Something to note- Michael Behrens was wonderful and oversaw the project from beginning to end making sure that everything was more than perfect. He is a terrific employee in my estimation-more like from the vintage of a bygone generation of those who cared about the quality of their work.

So happy with Tim and the team at Universal Floors! They did an unbelievable job at my house. They sanded and stained my hard wood floors which was no easy task. They were so gracious in my home. Were clean and careful and got the job done in no time. I would use them again and again and recommend them to anyone.

We were about to give up on the wood kitchen floor we had installed over 20 years ago. It came with a rather ugly stain and it didn't age well. In just two short days the wonderful crew from Universal Floors made that floor absolutely beautiful! I loved, too, that they were able to use a water-based finished that dried quickly and did not have a strong smell.

My experience with Universal Floors was first class. The owner and sales team are polished professionals and a pleasure to work with. Their passion extends to the subcontractors and installers they employ or in my case they recommend. We were faced with a unique flooring situation during the pandemic and supply issues prevented us from obtaining the same species of wood for several areas of our house. We hired Universal Floors to install new hardwood floors in our house and refinish the existing ones. They were extremely professional and on time. Michael was super responsive and patient with all our requests. The results were fantastic. We had the same experience with them in our previous house 20 years ago. Universal refinished three rooms in my condo while I was living here. That means they had to move furniture and take care with dirt, dust and paint. I could not be more pleased. From start (the in-house estimate) to finish (coming back to place the furniture) the two people I dealt with exceeded my expectations. The manager, Michael, helped me choose the perfect color and finish, calmed my nerves, and handled the scheduling and timing with ease. Howard, a skilled technician, not only did impeccable work, but cleaned up spotlessly so you could hardly tell major work had been done. Both men went above and beyond and were as nice as can be. I am now in the process of scheduling Universal to refinish the rest of my floors. Do not hesitate to call Universal!

Universal Floors did a superb job. My original floor suffered water damage. We tried to replace just the damaged parts but unfortunately had to replace the entire living room.

From initial inspection, research on the existing floor, discussion of full replacement, visit to look at samples, through installation - all was done with exemplary customer service. Universal has the knowledge, expertise, quality product, and most importantly personable staff to get the job done.

Universal Floors was highly recommended to me by a contractor friend as the best in the area, and they did an amazing job installing wide plank herringbone oak floors in my house. The installers were on time every day, neat, and paid attention to detail so the pattern was perfectly centered. My floor literally makes me happy every day, which sounds cheesy, but I am an architect so high quality work and careful details are very important to me. I would absolutely recommend Universal to anyone (and have!) without hesitation.

The professionals at Universal Floors did a great job in addition to listening and working with me so I could refurbish the floor in a non traditional way. It came out looking great! That was 12 years ago. Back to today, I called them for advice about a new home and they took the time to explain what needed to happen in floor installation and gave me information about their experience with the type of floor at that new home. Universal Floor, and South Lynn in particular, are fantastic. They worked with our tight schedule and did a beautiful job refinishing a rather beat up floor. It’s absolutely gorgeous! In addition, they installed luxury vinyl flooring in the basement and we couldn’t be happier. The men ran into a pretty major problem and South handled it quickly, efficiently, and correctly. The result was better than I expected (I’m a major perfectionist and I couldn’t find anything wrong.) We highly recommend and would use Universal again. I think what I appreciate the most is their no nonsense, straight to the point approach.

Universal Floors did a suburb job in installing new red oak floors over existing original white floors that were in rough shape. The team was professional, prompt and quickly pivoted when we had to change the project. I’ll trust them with future projects. Also, Tim is a joy to work with!

These guys are incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and good people. They clearly have been doing floors for a long time, and what I like best is that they do high quality work —even if it means more effort.
They were kind enough to inspect the work of another flooring installer and tell me what was wrong with it and how to fix it, and they did all this for free. I trusted them so much with our home that I asked for their recommendation for other door contractors to use for the rest of my project.
The next time I need help with my floors, I’ll only use Universal Floors!

Excellent service. Very professional and addressed my concerns thoroughly. Replaced four oak planks with matching ones so well I can’t spot the difference. Used plastic sheets to cover surfaces so extremely little dust anywhere in home. Minimal odor from refinished floor. Highly recommend.

The last time we used Universal Floors was nearly 30 years ago, and if anything they are even better than they were then. Kevin was great to work with: always on time, incredible work product, and a great price! We will definitely use them again in the future, and recommend them highly.
