VIDA Fitness at The Yards reviews
18 Its a fine gym, however, the gym is supposed to open at 500am during the week. About three times a year no one shows up. If you're an early riser, I'd recommend going somewhere a little reliable.
They have an app which the gym uses to notify members of pool closures, repairs or whatever. I have to see them send out a.late opening alert. It doesn't speak well of their respect for members' time.
Edit: it's 5: 30am, August 15th, 2022. Gym isn't open yet. Have to leave, and though I appreciate the responce below, it rings a little hollow.
We the people want to know, why Vida that claims to be so lavish and upscale? Has PINK mold growing in their steam rooms? Could this be the reason why someone is always getting sick at this gym? We can forget about being safe from Covid and Monkeypox when you don’t follow simple standards such as cleanness and sanitation…
Torn up Bedding!
Rotting wood!
And Literal Throw up all in the grass!
What’s upscale about this Trashy Bathhouse?
BUYER BEWARE. Would give 0 stars if possible. I read in reviews that this gym closed during Covid and continued to charge its members it's full monthly membership price despite being unable to use the gym for several months, and refused to let people cancel their memberships. I thought this could not be true, so I joined the gym. After I left DC I submitted according to the contract that I signed a valid cancellation and was continued to be charged past my cancellation date despite following the guidelines of THEIR contract. I filed a dispute with my credit card company regarding the charges and Vida continued to LIE to my card company about when I had submitted my cancellation request, even going so far as to say I contacted them with my cancellation far after I had moved halfway across the country and was no longer eligible to use the gym. This gym obviously has no respect or regard for its members and does not even follow their own contract. STAY AWAY. Don’t be fooled by the high review rating. Check Yelp. Others have stated similar issues there as well.
Considering VIDA - on JUNETEENTH OF ALL DAY - made a WATERMELON-based cocktail speaks to the RACISM the company possesses. Can’t imagine what it’s like to carry that much hate. I feel bad for Vida— I feel bad for those whose values are such.
Love this place. Clean and makes me want to go to the gym. Only complaint is that in the locker rooms the showers are super dark. Add some light please!
VIDA has everything I need and want in a gym—great services and facilities, the latest equipment, top-caliber fitness and wellness pros, and a great community. It's the best gym I've ever belonged to, and the best I’ve seen in the DMV!
Vida is more than just a gym, it's a lifestyle. State of the art gym facilities with a seasonal rooftop pool, beauty salon, and even a spa! In my opinion, also some of the most reasonable monthly rates.
Great gym and staff. Clean and newer equipment.
Parking is very problematic after 3pm and routinely cars are double parked in the lot. Limited street parking and the larger lot at the grocery store doesn’t honor cross validation so you’ll end up missing a lot of workouts if your plan is to drive after work.
If you don’t drive this is a great gym to go to!
Amazing gym. If they ever close down, a night club could move in without changing a thing.
Love the pool, the actual gym is great, the classes are just okay, and my favorite part is the luxurious locker rooms complete with sauna and steam room!
Clean and welcoming staff. I wish the lighting would be a little more on the how do I say…. “elevated in brightness”
Is it a gym with standard equipment, yes. Is it convenient if you live in Navy Yard, yes. Are the extra perks they promise you worth the over priced membership, NO! Will you get the run around when trying to book your “complimentary training sessions”, YES! Will you get the run around when you want to stop your membership, YES! You’re an adult, make your own choice. Just know this is clearly a place with pressure on numbers so take that for what you want. Don’t go excited to start a fitness program because the trainers won’t respond and it will kill any motivation you have. Just be warned that this is probably not a place for anyone starting a new journey or looking for help. But if you just want a place to go, maybe it’s for you if you don’t mind the high cost.
I’m currently a new member at this gym, so far I have to say.everyone has been super nice and the energy of the gym naked me want to go hard (harder of course). The price for the kind of “luxury” gym and energy of the gym I think is worth it. Also, I get gym shy (lol). I quickly got over that because EVERYONE is literally in their own space and world, but super nice. It feels like I’m just kinda working out and doing my thing (which I love).
Perhaps the worst gym in the entirety of DC. The equipment is rarely racked correctly, the locker room is dirty and the staff is rude and feels inconvenienced by your presence.
Additionally, they are requiring boosters as entire countries (the UK) is rolling back their mandates. I guess Vida's PH professionals know more than the UK's? That is very interesting. I would encourage not joining this gym and either working out in an apt gym or if that is not available finding transportation to another gym. I changed to a gym in NoVa and it is the smartest move I have ever made.
The staff is super friendly and down to earth, they definitely took me by surprise! If you go at the right time, the gym is practically empty too; nice spacious, ridiculously clean & modern areas that you only have to share with a few others. I don’t use any of the amenities for your comparison purposes, to include the locker room.
Overall I really like the gym facilities. Up to date and clean. Love the locker rooms they provide everything you need! The staff is friendly and the app is really awesome. I wish the pool hours opened later on weekends…at least until the sun when down at the Navy Yard location. My only issue has been getting my questions answered to certain questions. No one has retuned my calls, emails, or in person inquires so that has been frustrating. Also, the parking garage they have is kind of small. Many times I have gone and it full leaving me to wonder around for a while looking for parking and unable to use Vida’s parking validation. Overall I am satisfied with the gym, it’s location and amenities. It is pricy, so not sure how long I will keep my membership, but I do like that they offer monthly to month and not a contract.
Vida was quite nice before Covid. Since Covid they've made changes to cut corners and save money but they are still the most expensive gym membership in DC with dwindling amenities.
