Humbling. You don’t realize the magnitude of their sacrifice until you see the names stacked on top of each other. The grounds were clean and accessible. I hope to visit again one day.

It’s a good walk around the memorial, you’ll see many families honoring their lost loved ones. Most people are usually respectful towards each other here. It’s a tribute to the 58,000 men and women that lost their lives during the war. It’s open 24 hours of the day. In this area, you’ll find 3 pieces, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, the Three Servicemen statue, and the Vietnam Women’s memorial. Admission is free. I recommend just taking the train and walking over here. Parking can be very limited.

I was here on a Sunday about 10: 30 AM, just a couple of people here not very many the pathway down to it is kind of uneven and bumpy, but worth it. When you get there, again, it’s surreal to see how many names are engraved into the wall.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is the public artwork that touches me the most in the entire Eastern United States. It is a scar on the earth that has kept a low profile of civil strife and pain, but it has been gradually uncovered.

It felt so unassuming walking up to it on a cold snow covered morning with next to no one around. I’ve read and heard a lot about this unique memorial over the years and finally having seen it in person, now I understand the reverence it instills in those who open themselves to its experience and message.

We were deeply moved with a profound emotional recharge when we visit the memorial at night. At the corner of the year 1959, in one second one sees the reflecfion of the Washington monument and in the next one finds the reflection of Lincoln Memorial. One of a kind experience. Out of many, One.

Impressive monument with several stations. The main monument was planned by a then 21-year-old architecture student. Several 1,000 names of deceased and unknown soldiers were engraved on plates in a V-shape. You can walk the entire monument. The names are sorted by date of death. There is also a monument to three soldiers (black, white, mixed) and two nurses there. The nurses treat an injured soldier and look for a helicopter to rescue him.

An overwhelming place, a place that seems wrong to me to be a tourist attraction, so many people who gave their lives for freedom and are a tourist attraction.it may or may not seem right but the tributes there are of gratitude are moving. It takes your breath away to think that so many people died in the service of their country and most of them young.

Safe, humbling experience. Easy to get around. Restrooms just across the street and the grounds are well kept.

For me the Vietnam Veterans Memorial by Maya Lin (born 1959) is still the perfect memorial. Lin won the competition for the memorial in 1981 when she was still an undergraduate student at Yale. Its minimalist design and somber mood feels very appropriate for honoring the dead of America's most difficult war.
