Very spectacular attraction
There are many people nearby
The entire green space in front of you is very open, which makes you feel very good
I didn’t make a reservation to buy tickets, so I didn’t go in.
A large park close to the White House
There is nothing special or worth a visit
If you can, definitely try to get tickets for a tour! You will need to get tickets in advance most likely. While we were waiting for our timed entry, the park rangers were constantly turning people away. There are a few same day tickets available in the morning, but they run out quickly. We were there for a holiday weekend and the rangers were telling folks without tickets to get in line at 6am at the latest for the next day.
Entering the monument is strange, you first need to go through a security check point. Once everyone in your group is through, a massive solid steel door opens and lets you inside. It’s timed to close after a certain amount of seconds. The ride up to the top is quick and the elevator is very smooth. Views out are awesome but it can be a little crowded. You might need to wait a few minutes for people to head down to the gallery floor. The ride back down is pretty cool because the elevator slows down at two points so you can view some of the engraved stones from whomever they were donated from.
All the monuments in Washington are beautiful and well-appointed, all surrounded by beautiful green spaces.
I strongly recommend to go as early as possible. They open at 9: 00, but there’s line at ticket booth 15-30 min before. Elevator can house only 10-15 people at a time, so naturally waiting line gets longer as the day goes by.
I visited night time. It was must visit place to me when I am in WASHINGTON DC. So I took picture like spider man
The awe inspiring Washington Monument. A beautiful area indeed. I had a very pleasant time walking around, enjoying the scenery, and appreciating the monument. Come and see it for yourself, it's worth the trip.
Had a wonderful walk around the area. We couldn't have picked a better day for the weather and the atmosphere.
An amazing, extremely, extrodinary view. This is the one thing to do for the entire day. You need to reserve tickets right away because they go fast.
