Zorba's Café reviews
20 Best falafel I've ever had (although I've never been to the middle east) and the kabobs were pretty tasty as well (go for the spicy chicken).
Portion sizes were underwhelming and I would've like some sides other than french fries and a very tiny salad.
Average to mediocre food, gyro is dry with very little portion. Bread was dry and crunchy from being on the grill. The meat was flavorless. DC is not the place for Greek food, I tried 2 spots and neither one was good. The portions are less than half the portions in New York and New Jersey and the taste is not even close.
This place is awesome! Extremely friendly delicious and options for everyone. We were having trouble finding dinner as some wanted pizza and some had a gluten allergy and this place solved all our problems. I am in the area visiting and this place has the most gluten free options available I was so excited to have gluten free pita. Definitely give this a try if you are in the area
The vegetarian moussaka was outstanding. The souvlaki yero, while good, wasn't quite as filling as I'd hoped.
This is some of the worst food I’ve ever had. It’s not Greek. The falafel pita was a joke. A tiny handful of lettuce, two miniature tomato slices and a few super old, old falafels. I paid about 14 for that. First I sent of back for more lettuce, then tomatoes. It did not help a thing. The sauce was not even the right sauce. It tasted like a bad grocery store Cesar. This is my second disappointing meal at the terrible place. I keep thinking one dish will be good. Nope. The problem is that there are no chefs, just a punch of people hired to follow a paper. Nothing is cooked on spot except fries. Nothing. Do not go to this awful and overpriced restaurant. Not worth my one star.
Food did not seem very fresh. Mussaka was not heated through. Fries had obviously been sitting under heat lamps for a long time.
Delicious food and fast service. We ate outside in the street area. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and you seat yourself. The food was fast to arrive and we enjoyed all of it. We had a salad, soup, and some of the dips. A spicy hummus and cucumber one. They were all great!
A delight of a place with kind and considerate workers. Very conscious of multiple allergens including peanut and gluten. Their gluten free pita, while a bit expensive, is DELICIOUS and filling! I got the yero in a GF pitta and when I arrived the lady clarified and made sure I knew the yero meat was not gluten free. I’ve a minor allergy so it was alright but it struck me that she’d take the time to make sure I understood. It was worth eating for the flavor haha I was just sad when it was all gone.
I've been visiting Zorba's for over 20 years. Simple but good Greek food with nice casual indoor dining room. You order at the counter but they bring your food to your table.
Zorba's has been around forever. It is usually less crowded than the more recent restaurants, but it is a dependable staple for Greek food. I wish they could gussy up the inside a bit, but it like the typical Greek diners you find in suburban strip malls. Not gourmet, but tasty and dependable. A nice selection of beers, especially Greek and good chicken souvlaki.
I recently ordered calamari and gyro to go here and was disapponted. The food was subpar and not even close to authentic Greek food. It is fast food quality but at sit down prices. I would not recommend this place.
The food is yummy. I like that I can serve myself when it comes to the fountain drinks and water.
It seems to be going downhill lately. I had lunch there a couple of days ago, and while the entree was OK, the baklava was awful - hard as a rock, to the point where I had to tear it apart with knife and fork, not cut it. I don't know whether they're cutting corners now, or not serving the freshest food, or what. I hope it gets better again. The people there are terrific, and it used to be one of my favorite places for lunch.
Yummy
Nice al fresco dining (if the weather cooperates) salad dressing was also yummy-decent size portions
Visited 2 days ago. Very much overrated place. While the setting is more or less OK, the dishes are very poor. Their grills (kebabs) are virtually the replicas of the Turkish food, but served three times as less meat. Very thin cuts barely reminding meat. Greek beer small bottle costs 8 bucks. Spent 55 bucks for two and still left hungry. Should have gone to any middle eastern restaurant to have similar dishes with less price and more meat
Some of the best greek food that I have had in DC. Really good prices and everything there tastes great. Good location right by Dupont circle and the metro station. I recommend the falafel and the gyros from Zorba's. They have nice outdoor seating with string lights as well as a dining room.
Friendly staff. Love how efficient this place is. You order what you want, right away you get your drinks, sit down at any table, within 10 min they bring you your food. Chicken slouvaki was delicious. Pita was soft and hot. Highly recommend this place. Very reasonably priced, good portions.
Called to place an order. Man who answered was incredibly rude. When I asked a few questions about their GF options he said “You know, I have other people here”. So don’t dare call asking questions.
I’ll tolerate rudeness if the food is great but sadly it was was pretty tasteless and bland honestly. Won’t be back.
I have liked this place since long time ago. It is about efficiency, you order get the food quickly and enjoy sitting outside near dupont and leave. Since it is more like a fast food spot, your experience is somewhere between a restaurant and a fast food location. I would generally rate the location 10/10, food quality 7/10 and service is 7/10.
I have eaten at Zorbas for 3+ decades - I first went there in the 1980s when it was one of my favourite places. I go there rarely now. I think the same family run the restaurant, but the newer management has changed things. Prices are higher, even allowing for inflation, portions are much less generous, and meals now a disappointment.
