1st Place Sports Running Tapestry Park reviews
14 Need to give a quick shout out to Jordan (manager). He was very helpful and handled my requests in such a manner that I will make sure to recommend this store over and over again. His attention to detail as well as his professionalism by setting the correct expectations is truly excellent customer service.
For everyone considering choosing another store for running shoes, I would reconsider. 1st Place Sports Running truly cares and offers the best when it comes to running shoes.
Came in for running shoes. Staff was very attentive. He did a quick evaluation and made several suggestions. Ended up purchasing the most comfortable pair of running shoes I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this place
This was the best decision I made in getting new shoes. I've been dealing with Achilles tendonitis for a few weeks, and Tessa was amazing in getting the right shoes and socks for me. It's been less than a week, but after more stretching and wearing these shoes, my Achilles is feeling a lot better. Thank you Tessa.
Jordan helped me to find the right shoe and insoles with great patience. Very knowledgeable and professional staff. Great place for shoes and lots of other active gear. Worth the visit.
Went here to find some On Cloud shoes. They were one of the only stores in Jacksonville to have the brand. Came in, found my size & checked out in a breeze! The guy working was super nice & helpful! They even gave me a free cookie, which was just icing on the cake!
Jordan was very helpful and knowledge in helping me select a pair of running shoes. Excellent customer service.
Super service.the young lady that helped made it her business to find the right shoe for me. It's been 2 weeks now and I couldn't be happier
The dude that helped me was awesome. He sized my foot and let me try on shoes until I found the right one. Would recommend
Great store! They have all your running needs covered from Altra shoes to nutrition, clothing, foam rollers, Oofos flip flops and everything in between.
On top of the great selection the service and expertise of the staff is top notch. I prefer to support local business if possible and when it's better than the big box store its a win win.
3rd pair of running shoes in a row from here. Definitely on the pricier side vs your main chain Foot Locker, DSW, etc but worth every penny (as you should expect for a high quality pair of running sneakers). I put in about 20 miles a week and have a mild overstep in my form. Staff are knowledgeable and genuinely care about finding you the perfect shoe to keep you safe and comfortable
Great staff that know how to truly help find the right shoe for you. Good shoes are worth the investment.
Whoever your “running route coordinator” is is the rudest person I’ve met in a long time. I told him I had a medical emergency and needed to go home along the running route, but would not allow me to go home and said “that’s not a good enough answer” verbatim, as if he has any authority to do so. A gentlemen at the end of the route was kind enough to allow me to pass to get my insulin. As an avid runner and local, it’s a shame that this will prevent me from visiting your store or recommending you to others.
So, funny story, true story: I have never been measured for a running shoe before now. Well, I have been in pain on and off for about a month now and I assumed it was from building my endurance and running more miles. Maybe I was doing too many too soon or something. So I head over to 1st Place Sports Running, tell them what’s going on, and that I want to get the right fit so I can keep getting better and not hurt myself.
First off, I brought my running shoes to show them what I’ve been using. They have me take them off, and point out my first mistake: cotton socks. Apparently cotton creates a lot of friction and heat inside your shoes and encourage blisters as a result. Me being me, I ask what else socks are made out of, and that store being that store, they have clean running socks made out of synthetic fibers for people to wear while they get fitted. Apparently they last a lifetime too, so holes should never get worn through them.
Next they look at my shoes, and ask how long I have had them. I say just under a year; my second mistake. Running shoes are only good for about 300 miles or six months. Even though I replaced the insoles, the actual sole to the shoe breaks down by that time and can cause injuries. ️
So they finally measure my feet, and I am just short of 10.5 in mens shoes. I always got the 9.5 wide because a 10 always felt narrow, and I did not like the idea of running with clown shoes on my feet. The 9.5 never never felt too short to me. Anyway, she goes in back and grabs some New Balance shoes in a 10.5 for me to try on. I do, and like I remember, they are tight around my toes. So she grabs the same thing in a size 11! I try them on, and they actually fit really well. Like, no complaints whatsoever.
She puts me on the treadmill to see how I run in them, and I was really expecting some tough love on how I bounce when I run/walk. Like, since I was a toddler learning how to walk, it was always on my toes, so now as an adult, I bounce like a gazelle. Well, she actually complimented my running form for that, which totally caught me off guard. After 30 seconds of that, she had me stop and showed me a video of how my feet land when I run. I land on the outboard sides on my feet and then roll in before pushing off again.
She grabbed another shoe which slightly helps with stability instead of the neutral shoes I was using, and I tried the treadmill again. Did a minute of that, and I could feel exactly what she was talking about. With the stability shoe, it felt more natural, and I could tell my feet were landing more centered. I did not know I was wrong before, let alone what right felt like until then, because for over 30 years wrong was my normal. And all this time I just thought messed up and painful feet would just come with the hobby.
The employees at this store are very knowledgable and thorough, an d needless to say, I bought the shoes and I am planning on buying the socks also. I am looking forward to applying all this new knowledge and becoming an even better runner in my 30s than I was in my 20s. It’s crazy how much I run and how little I knew. Thank you, ladies, for all of the help!
