A Better Pool and Spa Service, Tampa FL

Believe it if they tell you. They told us at the beginning…
“We’re not the fastest pool company and our communication could be much better, but we build a pretty good pool. ”

The speed of the overall project will test your patients and communication was definitely poor at times. At various moments during the project, it seemed like they were at the mercy of the subcontractors schedules. Point being, add a day, or week, or 2 weeks, possibly 3 to any dates that you might be given. You gotta trust the process and just be ready to be patient.

Started dig in May 2022 and now March 2023, they’re wrapping up some minor details, but we’ve passed all inspections, the pool and spill over spa look great and best of all we’re swimming.

Grades in order of appearance:

Rich (Pool designer and Sales) – B, would’ve been an A, especially with design, but we had one hiccup. Read your contract, make them explain.
Logan – C, C for Communication, has to improve.
Bob (Owner) – If he came by during the project, I never saw him.
Tom Manzi – A, Thank god for Tom batting clean-up. Tom had the best communication of them all and came through with everything he said he would in a timely fashion.

Building a pool can be very stressful, nonetheless, not sure if there’s A Better Pool and Spa option.

Alicia did a great job with design. The subs did great with beautiful pavers, tile work and pebble finish. Tom and Logan did a great job with our pool.
All people should understand that pool builds can take time. With worker and supply shortages things can take longer. I will tell you in was worth the wait.

A better puts together a great pool and it looks great. There were some issues along the way that were eventually completed however did take longer than expected but pool was dug in August and completed in December.

I would say overall I had a good experience with the team, however there were communication issues throughout the process which if that was better I would have given them 5 stars.

I signed a contract with a better pool and spa in March 2022. The pool was completed by the end of October. Many times through the transaction. There was a lack of communication. I would be told contractors are coming out to work and then they wouldn’t show up for weeks. Since the pool has been completed, I have had multiple leaks in the pool. I keep having to fill the pool with water because the leaks are not fixed. I was told somebody would be out a few weeks ago and still nobody is here. This is not the first time that they have not kept their word on when someone was going to be coming out to Fix the leak. The pool turned out beautifully. However, the lack of communication throughout the entire process was very frustrating along with the fact that I would always be lied to about when people are coming to fix issues. In the meantime, I am still filling the pool with water as I lose about 4 inches a week and still no response from the owner.not to mention the fact that all of my permits are still open and my second safety feature has still not been installed.

Started pool construction in June 2022.promised pool completion would be December 2022.pool is still not completed. They come whenever they want and do 1/2 the job then disappear for weeks then don't respond to calls or text. It's always 1 excuse after another and they never look at the official contract to see what you paid for. Logan is the worst of them all because he gets combative when you question him. Heater for pool was installed last month broken & we're just now finding out because plumbing wasn't completed so no testing was done. Tom was good up to the end then he dropped the ball. I just want my pool 100% completed and running properly. Love the design even tho it's a bit different from what I asked for.

I started looking for a pool contractor in the summer of 2021, which was probably the worst time to buy a new pool because it seemed everyone in Florida was building a pool! I can’t tell you how many contractors I called that never called me back because they were so busy and not accepting new clients. I attended the Tampa Home Show and was surprised there was actually a pool company attending the show. I stopped at the A Better Pool booth to talked with one of the salespeople about ordering a pool, and to my surprise they were taking new orders. After the home show, I had several meetings with my salesman to design my new pool. I was surprised how open they were to working on my design and I had some unique features I wanted to incorporate. Because of COVID, high demand, and supply chain issues, my pool construction took a year to complete, but I’m thrilled with the final product and the commitment the crew at A Better Pool had in getting the job done. I later found out that these guys have been in business for a long time, and really know the pool business. I always recommend getting several quotes on any major purchase, but A Better Pool should definitely be on your list!

We are crazy pleased with the outcome of our project! We came in with a vague idea and they helped us design and implement our dream outdoor space! This will be our last home and we wanted to make it special. We added the sun shelf and we’re encouraged to do a sport pool design. That worked out great for our active houseguests that wanted to play volleyball or those that just want to hang out in the shallow end. We are very pleased and would definitely recommend A-Better-Pool and Spa!

A Better Pool & Spa really knocked my idea and pool design out of the park! Let’s start here… I was so nervous shopping for a pool builder during the beginning of the pandemic in 2021 that I stopped my journey and hopes of building my outdoor oasis. Companies were going out of business, inflation was building greed in companies and some companies wouldn’t even respond with a quote or communication. My good friend had a pool built by A Better and assured me that this company would follow through and complete the project. After swimming in my friends pool for a couple weeks at gatherings I decided to give A Better Pools a shot. I met with the designers and also the owner to assure that my dream would become a reality. Dealing with the fear of a builder not being able to deliver was a real fear for me. The comfort and guidance even when things were needing to be changed was a breeze dealing with this company. The office staff and even my direct line to my builder was great and my questions were always answered. 5 months later from September on dig to February on fill day was a clear and easy path to building my dream. A+ for A Better Pool & Spa Highly Recommended!

Also my turf was done by a recommendation from the builder. I could not be happier with the results!

Waiting for final pool to be done, almost 1 year and we still have leakage, broken travertine which is a hazard and no final inspection by the county.

Extremely satisfied with my pool that A Better Pool and Spa designed for me! Rich from sales took the time to design a beautiful pool for me and Bob, Tom and his team brought it to life! It was roughly 5 months from Dig to Pool and 8 from contract to Pool! Don was an asset once this pool was filled with the start up and explaining all functions to me. We started the project late November 2021 and we finally had water in our pool in July. Bob Grosso and his son Logan were not easy to communicate with they would take days to get back to you and never followed through on their promised scheduling. I gave them a 3 star rating because they still need to come back and finish up with decking issues. The best part of A Better Pool and Spa is their pool man Don Mitchell! He came out and did pool school for us and that day fixed some issues, he came back the following day, a Saturday, to finish the repair because he didn't have the part! Don has been helping us get the minor things done. Tom is the next best thing that happened to us, he became our super at the end and helped finish the project. I will come back and edit when all the issues with the decking are cleared up in finished, its been 3 weeks. Overall, if you have no expectations on how long.your pool will be built, they do build a beautiful pool and we are very happy with the results. Just work with Don Mitchell or Tom.

I have had a great experience with A - Better Pool & Spa! Staff on the sales, admin, and construction side of the business have been very professional and pleasant to work with! They seemed to be very knowledgeable & experienced and were able to help me with any concerns or questions I had throughout the process. Like any construction project, there were small delays here and there, but I am very fortunate for the communication I had with my project manager. He was very responsive and updated me with the status of my project, and was always able to answer questions I had! Overall great experience, can't recommend this company enough!

Not one pool company turned us away, not one contractor turned us away. I originally went with A Better Pool & Bob Grosso because his prices were the fairest and because he told me he could deliver a pool the quickest. With that being said, i know that getting a permit takes time, as i recently built my house and managed the entire project from start to finish- which included obtaining the permit.

The issue with this company was that not one time did they have an update for me. I was constantly calling the city to get updates/ calling the arborist (who they referred) to get an update. It wasn't until after 5 MONTHS that the arborist that was referred to us BY BOB GROSSO, that they finally uploaded the letter. It wasn't the city that was taking forever. It was Bob and his arborist. The city was WAITING for them to update the permit so that they could approve it. I had to on MULTIPLE occasions tell him what to do verbatim from what the city told me they needed. I also have proof and have all of this in writing. Don't let him fool you, or his response to this original review fool you.he lies, he stole our money, and only offered to give us $300 back. He said that he paid the arborist, which was a lie. I paid it directly with my capital one card- to which I still have the receipt for. He said he was withholding funds from our deposit due to "time & effort" neither of which he did. I GOT our permit and I put in the time and effort with the city. What is the most disturbing was when I called the city to remove A Better pool from our permit the inspector asked me who we were currently under contract with and when I told him, he said oh yeah, his name keeps coming up with these issues- YIKES! Again, beware! Do not recommend!

Stay away! The communication from this company is awful, specifically the owner of the company. Contractor failed to perform simple tasks time after time. I would NOT recommend!

I can’t be happier with their service, specially Richard who assists me every single time I have a question or concern very patiently and kind. Best decision I ever made, I’m very pleased and if I have to deal ever again with a pool construction I will choose A Better Pool and Spa Service over and over again. This is the way America should run like Super efficient and professional!

Building a pool can been an stressful experience, especially in today's current environment. Better Pool and Spa made this a very pleasant experience from the beginning to the end. The biggest factor was their ability to communicate instantly with us through the pool process. Thomas provided 5 star service throughout, responding to texts, almost immediately and kept us inform throughout the process and what was going to happen next. I can't say enough good things about this man, if I was hiring a project manager he'd be the man. Michael who sold us the pool provided outstanding service too, keeping in touch with us throughout the whole build, again delivering exceptional service. The rest of the crew who I interacted with throughout the build where always curious and informative of what they were doing at the time. Bob the owner has assemble a great team that truly delivers on their promise. I highly strongly recommend them.

I have had 2 rust spots in my pool within 3 years. The first one was repaired after 3 months of waiting. The repair was done poorly. I contacted Bob Groso and he said he would be out to look at it. Bob never showed up. I sent him pictures and got no response. I've called him multiple times about the second rust spot, but no response.

It is under new management. The new owner has good customer service skills and follows through with weekly pool service.
