AdventHealth Medical Group Bariatric Surgery & Metabolic Medicine at Celebration

Update: We started off rocky but overall, after they sorted out the chaos and overload of new patients transitioning to them this office, staff and provider are A+. Dr. Smith is an incredible surgeon and I am so so glad he did my surgery. I have healed wonderfully, the staff is responsive and I feel supported. I hope no one has to experience the first stage I went through, but if it does stay with it or just go with Dr. Smith from the start!

This has been the worst experience ever and I haven't even had the surgery yet. I would recommend somewhere else until this group sorts out their stuff. They should have let Dr. Dovec finish her case load, but instead they are cancelling patients who have flown people in to care for them, pushed procedures back and without explanation or communication. Now they just cancelled my procedure with the other surgeon for no reason. This place is a mess.

Dealing with this office has been an absolute nightmare. I have been trying for 17 days straight to make an appointment with Dr. Smith, and have still been unable. I spend several hours a day trying to simply make an appointment; it has become a part time job simply trying to get communication with this office.
I filled out the online forms, gave all my info and insurance, and still no appointment. Every single day when I call (multiple times) I’m told that Dr Smith has a “special person” that sets his appointments, and that person will call me back. 17 days and still no call. Then I was told that person quit, and so the office manager would call me. Again…17 days and no call. Then I get excuses “the office manager is in all day trainings” and so nobody can book appts for Dr Smith. 17 days. I call every day begging to speak to someone who can set up an appointment for me, and no response. I reached out to my “Care Coordinator” at Advent to try and help me and after him trying to get through on my behalf several times, he advised me I “should probably find another doctor because he gets a lot of complaints about trying to reach this office and nobody can ever get through”.
It’s unfortunate that this office is denying medical care to so many people.
I truly hope the doctors see this, and the dozen others complaints online referencing this same problem. As a business owner myself, I’d want to know if my office manager and administrative staff had zero regard for my practice and were crippling my business.
I advise everyone to stay away! If it’s this difficult to simply make an appointment, I can’t imagine the nightmare it will be trying to receive ongoing care from this practice.
It’s unfortunate, because Dr Smith has a great reputation and came highly recommended and I was really looking forward to having him be my doctor. Sadly, his office staff is dragging down his reputation.

I have been trying to get ahold of this group. No one answers the phone. The phone system is floored and does not work. I was forced to go to another surgeon and make inquiries for Beriatric Surgery.
They have lost their sense of Urgency. Thats for sure.

I had total knee replacement done there and was treated like family. It was am amazing experience.
