American Pro Diving Center, Crystal River FL

I recently completed my open water dive certification at American Pro Dive Center in Crystal River, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of outstanding! From the moment I walked through the door, I was met with friendly faces and an atmosphere that immediately put me at ease.

John, my instructor, truly made the experience special. His knowledge, patience, and attention to detail were exemplary. He took the time to explain each step of the process and was always there to answer any questions or concerns. Whether we were in the classroom or in the water, John's guidance made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire course.

I can't recommend American Pro Dive Center enough, especially if you're lucky enough to have John as your instructor. If you're considering getting your open water dive certification, look no further. Thanks, John and the entire team at American Pro Dive Center, for an unforgettable diving experience!

I went to American pro diving center for my open water driver certification, everybody was awesome, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had a great time! I'm going to go back to do two more certifications.

The captains were fun and very knowledgeable and ensured we were able to see the adorable manatees. Parking was a little bit of a mission but the overall experience was great.

Captain John and Captain Bruce did an amazing job finding manatee and keeping a large group of folks well behaved.thank you for a wonderful morning!

Our captain, Ryan, was nice and protective, watching for our safety, especially when the boat was rocking back and forth while we were in the water.

Our tour guide, Vinny, made us feel responsible, patiently reminded us to stay calm, and proved that he knows how to do his job very well.

I would have liked to have been informed before we booked and paid for the tour that we had to hold still for both the manatees safety and our safety.

And - we saw the manatees!

Awesome people and very helpful if you're trying to find a local tour to swim with manatees or take any kind of diving or scuba diving classes to get certified.

I was over the moon to get a manatee swimming experience. Vinnie and Ryan were so great in leading our expedition. We were able to get up close (but no touching!) to a really beautiful manatee playing in a dock skeletal structure. We were given a perk when shown one of the underground springs in Crystal River. Overall our experience was epic. My only disappointment was that I assumed there would be pictures taken of us while under the water. (Trying to swim to the underwater spring). I would have bought a thumb drive in a heart beat if there had been pictures of my personal experience!

The water was not clear like they advertised, we seen one (hardly) then guide headed to a snorkeling hole with just fish. Drove 14hrs to do this. We snorkeled with them about 100 feet from the dock. Staff was however very kind and informative.

We just got off an amazing snorkel tour with Ryan and Vinny. They did an amazing job explaining and talking with the kids. My 8 and 6 year old had a blast! They were so patient with their explanations and answering all their questions.
We knew going in the off season could be rough but they found us an amazing spot and a manatee. We also got to snorkel around one of the many springs in the area.
I mentioned one of my bucket list items, seeing an alligator in its natural habitat and Ryan made a small detour and showed us an alligator!
We got to tick two things off our bucket list in one day!

The captains were very knowledgeable about the area and manatees! They explained all the safety precautions and made me and my family very comfortable out in the water! We saw a total of 5 manatees including a mom and her baby! One of the captains told the best dad jokes! Lol he kept us all entertained the whole time! Definitely worth the money if you’re in the area, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This place is amazing! I just finished my Rescue Diver and EFR certifications with instructors John and Rodney and I had a great time! They kept the class fun and exciting. I’d definitely recommend American Pro for any dive classes!

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME ON THESE SCAMMERS! Absolute disappointment. We were told we would be getting 2 hours of snorkeling with Manatees and instead we got there and the first hour was a long documentary about regulations and waiting around for everyone to get dressed in gear. Then we had to drive ourselves to a parking lot where we had to pay extra money for parking, another 35 minutes gone with everyone organizing themselves, getting onto the boat. We then got to a RESIDENTIAL bay where we had to wait in line 20 minutes for one sleeping manatee in the corner- until all the other boats left. We then got into the water and were provided another 15 minutes of training on how to swim? ! After that we swam to the manatee and because we were 20 of us, everyone was huddling close to that one poor manatee. I COULD NOT SEE THE MANATEE as there were way too many people! 5 minutes later we were told to go back to the boat as we are going home!

We traveled from Europe to see the manatees and wasted money and a whole day to get nothing in return. Of course this scam of a company won’t return our money- but I guarantee you, they know very well how terrible of a service they have provided. Shame! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

Completed my Open Water Certification yesterday with instructor John Kleinhoffer. He was incredibly patient, informative, clear and concise. Despite this being a two day course, I never once felt rushed. John K gave everyone the same level of attention. Even with those who withdrew, John K was motivating to them and never pressured them to do anything they weren't ready for. Absolute 10/10 would recommend. I live 2 hours away and chose to get certified here because of the staff's kindness and professionalism. If this is something you've always wanted to do, I'd highly recommend John K and this shop. I'm definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, and I was able to do it all thanks to John K's great instruction.

P. S. If who's ever reading this could tell John, my bad for being miniscule with the tip, blew my cash getting my car unlocked by a locksmith, but I will surely make up for it when my girlfriend comes back to get her cert in August. He deserves it.

We had a wonderful experience with everyone at the American Pro Diving Center staff - from Michael who answered the phone the first time I called to Austin and Ryan who were our guides on our Manatee Swim trip. They are all very knowledgable and professional, but also extremely friendly. We really appreciated the way they made sure we got to see not one, but two manatees, even in the off season. If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience I can't recommend them enough. (If you love the manatees so much you do this once a year, I also recommend them!) It's clear that they are committed to both their customers and the wild creatures they share with us.

We loved it so much we came back! We have completed both our open water and advanced open water certification courses through American pro and have had wonderful experiences both times. John K and John B both kept us safe and made sure we had a great time during each respective course. We were so comfortable asking questions/making mistakes and knowing our instructor would be there every step of the way. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. We have gotten fantastic recommendations on gear, dive sites, tips, etc. They will take all the time you need to match you with the right piece of gear/class/tour that is perfect for you!

I completed my PADI Open Water course on 6/24 & 6/25 with John K.and had a great experience. John was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and attentive and made the class enjoyable. American Pro also has a great selection of dive gear and accessories. If you are just passing through to see the manatees, or looking to get PADI certified, I highly recommend American Pro. And don’t forget to tip your instructor!
