Anchor Tavern reviews
21Chill small spot. I was alone and the girl bartender treated me as well as the other groups that were in. No food, but enjoyed my cocktail
Called ahead. Said the kitchen was open for another 30 min to a hour. Showed up in 15 minutes. Told me the kitchen was closed. Get your lives together please & thanks
Got to go. Wings and salad. Got home. They left off the most important ingredient to a Waldorf salad.the apples. Kinda bummed. But overall decent.
Awesome food and good service. The egg roll sampler was amazing, we also got quesadilla which had way too many green peppers but was still okay. Wings were really good and it was only $1 charge for all flats. Alcohol was fairly priced at 6 for cocktails and service was fast and prompt. It is a small bar and luckily wasn't too busy when we went. If you're in downtown Tampa it's definitely worth it to check it out.
This was a great spot to watch the games on a Sunday afternoon. The place is small and got a little crowded, but the bartender was on her game and didn't miss a beat. Drink prices were reasonable. The food was okay. It was typical bar food.
Great ambiance, fresh food and one of the best customer service experiences from our bartender Brianna! We will make sure we make our way back every time we are in town.
The bartender (Destiny) was great and the people in the bar we're very friendly. The show stopper was the food. It was really delicious. We got jalapeño poppers, wings, Philly egg rolls and a crab cake sandwich. What great choices!
Visiting and wanted to watch the game
Great Beer and Wings! Long list of Tap Beer. Best Bartender he took care of the entire bar including table service and food.
Great place I visited in Tampa while I was there for work. Got there late and the kitchen was closed. I think the bartender noticed me looking on my phone for another place for food. He let me know that the fryer was still on and they could make me something out of that. Got me some fries that were on point.no ketchup required.and some very good mozzarella sticks. You gotta love places and people that go out of their way to serve the customer even when they don't really have to. I will be back.
The cook is the best downtown. I think his name is John. He's got a bunch of face tattoos. He's literally the single best cook downtown and he's at anchor bar, y'all. I work downtown and eat downtown everyday. He's the best there is.
Excellent experience. Bar tender was super awesome. Very attentive and on point. Food was great. Honey Buffalo shrimp awesome and wings! Definitely a must try local spots" dive bar" but so mush more.
Fascinatingly small yet but enough dive that has a great selection of drinks and the food.is On Point.
Pleasantly surprised and impressed. Definitely a spot to visit in DT Tampa.
Great time and great bartenders. Jose and his coworker made great drinks and were polite and professional all night. Strongly recommend for a game night
The bartender was awesome!
However, it was INCREDIBLY busy (with a St. Patrick's day fest and March Madness Tournament excitement nearby). I felt bad for her bc it was so busy, she needed to be 5 people to take care of what was around.
The food was great, the service was a little slow but it was during a high traffic time however so it was expected. The atmosphere was of the 'down home' type.
Loved the opportunity to eat there and will visit again soon.
Super small, but the prices and food are decent. Kitchen closes a little too early so that was disappointing. It can get extremely crowded and tight, at times.
This place was a great find! The bar tender was friendly & made great suggestions from the menu. The shrimp tacos are the best I've had, the BBQ wings were tasty as well & the barkers kept my ginger ale full.
This barkeep works hard & deserves your business!
As someone originally from Buffalo we had to wander in to see if it's tied to the original anchor bar where the wings got their start. It isn't but the owner is from Buffalo. So, like always I had to try their wings. I always order extra crispy and lots of medium sauce with blu cheese. 95% of places down here don't get the crispy concept but this place does. I will be back.
I love a good dive bar, and the Anchor definitely fits the bill. Right downtown, but a little piece of ungentrified fun amongst the bank buildings and hotels. The wings are excellent and crispy, nice beer selection, friendly staff and characterful locals.
I travel and try wings everywhere I visit. I tried this place since it was close to our hotel. I got the medium wings, at first the flavor was nothing special. The more I ate the sauce started to grow in me, it was sweet but warm. The bar was small and crowded and it smelled small and crowded. The service was ok, seemed like only one person was working for a full bar.
