This is posted here because usually prospective employees take a look at the website of the prospective employer, and as such, they may also look at the company reviews. I am employed by one of the theme parks here in Florida, and just helped these people during a short busy time. I have no business interest or conflict at all. First, on a daily basis, you are seriously over-worked from the minute you arrive, to the minute you leave. They do not have enough people for the workload. They need more people, which will be difficult because so far three people have left in the past seven months, since these new owners took over. There is always plenty to do in a florist to justify sufficient staff.
You do not get a lunch break here. I was told the workroom had been redone. I noticed there is NO place for employees to get off their feet and eat, and recharge. And I quicky saw why. You do not get any meal break. I know of no employer who does not recognize that it is important for their employee's health and productivity to be given time to eat. I worked a 10 hour day, with no meal break, and never got off my feet. With an 8 hour shift I never got off my feet or was able to take a break to eat.
This shop has been in existence for over 40 years, and has been under new ownership for the past seven months. There is now a total lack of knowledge about the floral business. This fact is beyond huge, as are the problems this situation creates. There is co-owner who has a hand in everything, and actively participates in the wedding floral division of the business, even though there is no knowledge at all about wedding floral, which isn't like your everyday, out-the-door floral at all, or about the floral business in general. Policy is dictated by the one co-owner, that is totally inadequate or incorrect, and there is complete refusal to listen at all, to anyone who can make sure the work is being done efficiently and in a cost-effective manner. The co-owner hase no decent management skills or appropriate temperament that I saw, and would be very rude one minute, and is hugging you the next. Another problem that you need to deal with, is that one day you are told one thing, and then directly something else is done, or there is a return to what was done, before a change was made. Total inconsistency.
Third, I was told by another manager, that I only get paid when I am in the shop. I was awakened at 8: 00 a.m. On a day I don't work, by another employee, in Miami, texting me, who at first I did not even know who was texting me or why. This employee is the contact for brides to discuss their floral order. However, this employee knows nothing about flowers much less wedding flowers! This continued for three hours of my time! This is all time documented on my phone! I had asked this employee to call me three times, finally they did, after which I immediately returned her call. You do not do anything involved with work off the clock, without pay! Management then got involved, and I ended up being blamed me for this matter, and advised that it might take 6 or 9 months to get the wedding division running smoothly. Timekeeping, how one will be paid should have been set forth immediately! There are no excuses for this.
Fourth, you do not get any discount if you want to buy some flowers. I was charged full retail for 9 mums and a few stems of greens, which are both cheap until you pay retail, because the markup is so high
There are much better floral shops to work. There are simply too many problems here. I ran, you should too.

Made beautiful arrangements and a bouquet for my wedding. I also had a request for cherry blossoms to be included which had to be silk fake flowers. They made the cherry blossoms so cute and gorgeous.

I had the Best Experience ever, because of a Lady name Jill, however the whole staff was Great, They work together as a Team. Jill put together a Florida Gator Wreath that was over the Top, Beautiful. I mean it stood out and popped exactly how I wanted it to. She went above and Beyond for me, and I will be for ever Grateful for the Hard work that went into to it. I was told it was a Show Stopper! It was so Exceptional, She took her time with me and knew exactly what I wanted, it was Very Detailed. You can tell that Jill Cares and Really Loves her Job, it is workers like her, that will keep Customers like me coming back. We need it back up flowers for my wedding this weekend, and they came through and they even have the rose petals for the flower girls basket. They are more than accommodating, the flowers were absolutely gorgeous, and I could not be more appreciative that they were able to save the day and help my fiancé get these lilies.
