Athena Restaurant reviews
18This is one of THE best Greek restaurants I've ever been to. Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes were huge. We didn't want to waste our leftovers so we upgraded our hotel room to one with a fridge! Go there! You won't regret it! Get it all, the flaming cheese, the sampler entrees, and waddle out. You will be glad you did!
Food was good. I didn’t love my dish - the lamb shawarma was too sweet. But our saganaki app and the gyro was good. Nothing crazy unique with the gyro but a solid dish. The saganki was super well seasoned though and one of the better ones I’ve have.
Not packed both for our lunch trip and dinner trip. The spinich pie was mouth watering. The lamb shank fell off the bone. And the grape leaf was awesome. They just got a new chef according to the waitress. He is worth the visit. 7/12/22
I have to say that we went to this place in Mother’s Day and I had a bad time in this restaurant, bad service and bad food and we had to pay a lot of money for the meal.
I usually stop he with my family for a Greek Cafe when we are in town the past few times have been horrible, we ordered the coffee she asked sweet or non sweet so we said sweet there was no sugar in it and the kaimaki was not right, the owner needs to teach them how to make the coffee for 5 dollars a pop, you have to poir multiple cups a little each time to share the kaimaki and the sugar is way off, I taught the lady how to make it I will give them another shot when I'm in town and change my review if they get it right.
The food was was VERY authentic Greek. And I should know, as I am a proud American Greek. The prices are more than reasonable especially considering the large portions. Service was awesome and the ambiance took me back to Greece. I highly recommend the Athena. Also my daughter's name ️
Stopped in for a Saturday afternoon lunch, the atmosphere was cozy & refreshing. I had the lamb souvlaki, the lamb was tender & delicious. Service was friendly & courteous.
We stopped in for lunch on a whim. Excellent food and Peter provided great service and recommendations for lunch! Didn't disappoint!
Visited again today. Tried a new menu item. I think it was listed as a fish taco. It was served on a pita with a lemony dressing and coleslaw with jalapeños. It was phenomenal. The fish was perfect and the flavors complemented each other exceptionally—not too spicy My husband got the lamb gyro (which I got last time) and he said it was great! He wanted me to try to recreate at home—not sure how that’s gonna work out maybe we’ll just have to come back instead.
So amazing! Perfect in every aspect. First time here, and I cannot wait to come back and have some more. Best place in St Augustine, it’s not even close! 10 stars! ️️️
This was the worst Greek food I’ve ever had. I have eaten in Greek restaurants in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, small towns in the States and all over Europe especially in Greece on two visits. There’s nothing authentic or even close here. I had the worst moussak ever and it was served with an Italian type sauce! My husband had a gyro and also said it was the worst he had ever had.
If you are smart or have any experience with Greek food stay away. Far, far away!
Nice surprise, was just wandering around enjoying the town and just wandered in. Service was excellent staff was very pleasant and the food was great.check it out
So good! The retcina captured our taste buds; the food was lovely and the atmosphere allowed for unfettered conversation. Bonus: easy parking.
Fantastic food and service! Tonya was our server and she was very attentive and sweet. The food was amazing and the portions were generous!
AMAZING. Got the saganaki as an appetizer and the gypo. Honestly together they are enough to fill up two people. The tzatziki sauce is great and they don't over onion their gyro. It was my first time having saganaki but it was awesome it was the perfect amount for an appetizer came with pita bread and tasted amazing with the lemon juice on top. Staff is friendly, helpful, and gives you enough space to enjoy your meal. I thought I had a favorite Greek place but this is now my new fave
If you are looking for an old school Greek restaurant then look no further. This place is a great experience. The food and service are excellent!
My Husband and I stumbled across this little, cozy, authentic, Greek Gem! We were welcomed by their sweet host named Abby, and our Server Ashley was more than accommodating and very attentive. As for the food……very very delicious! My taste buds are still processing the delightfully, rich, tangy, and yet, refreshing flavors of their delicious Greek Cuisine!
My wife and I had lunch here. We shared the hummus appetizer which was ok but a bit bland. I had the gyro which was amazing! I enjoyed how the pita was filled with meat and plenty of tzatziki sauce. My wife’s souvlaki was equally as full of meat and tasty. It was too much for her to finish, so I had to help. The service was fine and price ok.
