I really hate sharing negative reviews about a local business, but I was so disappointed by Atkinson Shoe Repair. I had used them for years and had no problems; was always very happy with the service. However, in December I took them in a pair of Gucci loafers my puppy had chewed. I thought they were irreparable but they assured me, even though it would be a big project, they would do something to at least make them wearable. My expectations were low, but by February I'd still heard nothing from them. I called, they couldn't find the shoes, said they'd call me back and never did. I called again and was told they'd call me the following week with an update. Nothing. I ended up going into the shop, after two months of them having my shoes, and took them away - nothing had been done to even attempt a repair. What a waste of time. I found another local shop - CJ Shoe Repair - who fixed the loafers in one week for a very reasonable price and they look great. Atkinson has lost a customer in me, and it's a real shame. Just thankful I found an even better alternative.

I took a pair of my Freebird sandals to have the heel cut down. They did a great job and they feel so much better now. Will definitely use them again

So, I did not get my handbag repaired at Atkinson Shoe Repair, but only because Mr. Atkinson recommended another simple repair that I could do myself with some acrylic paint. That kind of honorable service does not happen too often. I did what was recommended and it worked perfectly.

Old school craftsmanship, right here at the Beach, I have been using this business since the early 1970s and always get great service and quality leather work from them.

Recently, sent a pair of navy blue driving shoes with a brass looking buckle with black ink in the inscription to be dyed for me that took 10 day's because Charlie said he does that process twice, the dye has to settle. His wife dyed them again, clean the sole, fixed everything on the buckle and sent the shoes back in better condition than the date of purchase. Terrific price and excellent customer service care experience.
My next project for Charlie is in the works which includes adjusting some designer belts. His close attention to detail is a testimony to their longevity in the Shoe and leather industry.
I drive over one hour to see him in person so we don't try to fool ourselves. The team of people whom have designed the products wouldn't want to see a lopsided buckle and with his experience - Charlie Atkinson is worth the drive.
This shoe & leather store was recommended by the Stylist Irene Scott at Nordstrom's. Last year I said that I was having issues with my shoe's next minute she sent a text saying that Atkinsons is the best. Yes they are. Take it from me who's had years of leather (amateur) knowledge.
