Positives: Beautiful lobby, wine offered when you enter, and free water available all day. The young guy who checked us in on the evening of July 21st was wonderful, but I regrettably did not catch his name.
Negatives: Rooms are dank and dark as well as cramped, there were stains on the sheets and our towels, and Ethan, who checked us out the next morning, was extremely rude. No eye contact at all, no "good morning, how was your stay, have a nice day. " nothing. He said two words to us and was visibly annoyed when I asked him to please hold the door for my daughter and I to exit with all arms full of luggage. If one is going to work in customer service, then one must learn how to provide it; management, please work with this staff member as well as housekeeping on the issues mentioned above.

What a cool designed hotel. Simply great. Had problems with our reservation at check-in because the booking platform had cancelled the reservation. But the hotel staff helped without hesitation and organized a free room at the hotel. Then enjoyed the wine and champagne afterwards.

Retro steam punk meets jazzy swanky styling throughout the lobby and rooms. Had a view of street below and was still fairly quiet!

The staff was friendly and everything looked nice but the room was just horrible. Between the elevator noise, the AC being loud and hearing every step and word from upstairs it was not good at all trying to get a good night sleep. Sound proof = 0. There was no fridge in the hotel room. This hotel needs an updated ASAP. Especially for this price.

My wife and I live about an hour and a half south of st Petersburg. Probably three to four times a year we drive up to the city to hangout, go to shows and have some good food. Every time we come up we always try and get a room at the avalon. The hotel is very stylish and comfortable. It's conveniently located to the attractions of st Pete. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is easy. During certain hours they serve wine and champagne in the lobby. 24 hours there is bottled water and fruit infused water available. Great place to stay the weekend!

Positive: front desk staff friendly, free wine & champagne happy hour, very convenient location to downtown St. Petersburg, lots to do. Lobby cute art deco, sister hotel with pool and restaurant literally right next door. The breakfast at The Hollander (sister hotel) was great and only a few steps away. Parking was free, once you found a spot between the 2 places.
Negative: "suite" wasn't cleaned correct first day, was only cleaned half way on the second day, for which we did receive a free bottle of Champaign, and didn't get cleaned at all during third day. Mentioning this at the front desk we were told our "Do Not Disturb" sign had been out all day which simply isn't the case. We moved it inside when we left for the day, and needless to say it wasn't hanging outside when we got back in the evening (I wonder how it got back inside the door?).
The so called mattress on the pull out sofa was unusable as is because there isn't much
mattress left anymore to cover the springs, I had to use a blanket and a comforter to put on it in order to sleep there for 3 nights.
Even if, as the person during check out was trying to explain to us, our sign had been out the entire day, plus they have 150 rooms and nobody had a problem with housekeeping during the past 3 days (so what in the world could our problem have been?), the other things found in the room didn't happen during the last few days. Mold in the fridge seal, the arm chair was as grungy as it gets with someone's cereal and M&M's left behind, stains on the wall and curtains. We didn't want to mention any of those things, and would not have, had we not been treated the way we did during check-out. The loud, window A/C's and small rooms have been mentioned before and wouldn't have been so bad to deal with. We knew we booked an older, 2 star hotel and didn't expect major luxury, but we did expect cleanliness I suppose.

Very nice place. Small quant rooms but everything you will need. People are very nice and accommodating. Pool and bar were awesome.

Small rooms that are overpriced and outdated. The best part is location. There are many wonderful places around to grab a drink or something good to eat.

Hotel was as expected for the price point, rooms are basically converted motel rooms but they’re good enough. We stayed in the “studio suite” room which is adjacent to the main lobby. Problem is with housekeeping. Housekeeper straight refused to do housekeeping and claimed it happened only every three days, yet when I asked the front desk they said it’s daily. The housekeeper refused to enter our room, so I had to personally gather up all the towels and bring them outside. Housekeeper then Asked me to empty out my own trash and said there are extra bags inside for me to re-bag the garbage. All the housekeeper did was hand me towels while standing outside the room. No cleaning or fresh sheets for the whole three days I was there. When I told the front desk about this (not Caleb) I was met with a shrug and “sorry that’s weird”. Ok? When we first got our room, the fridge was leaking and the oven light kept going on itself. It seems the front desk (again not Caleb) got annoyed by us asking them to take a look at it. They also didn’t come until I called again the next day. The maintenance man and woman themselves were very nice. Rooms are fine but very strange service, which ruined our three days. Other reviewers have mentioned the issue with housekeeping as well and the hotel management keeps responding to these reviews claiming housekeeping wasn’t done because the do not disturb Sign was on the door but this is not true. I met the housekeeper at my door face to face and she refused. Would not stay again. Caleb at front desk is nice.

What a cool place! I've been all over this area and stayed here for the first time. Loved the suites with back patios. Nice, clean rooms, cool courtyard. Quiet part of town yet a short walk to anything. Will definitely return.

The staff was awesome, especially Jeff. He was so kind! Enjoyed our stay here at Avalon. Loved the complimentary champagne and wine in the lobby too! I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel itself fine. Guests in Avalon and sister hotel Hollander faced with a pool open to public and virtually unable to access. Total craziness!

This hotel is fun, funky, and cool! Rooms are basic but stylish and immaculately clean. Lots of great hang out space to meet other guests and staff is friendly and helpful. Unbelievable location- easy walking distance or quick Uber to world-class attractions, local restaurants, and shopping. The Tap Room restaurant in The Avalon's sister property next door has great food and is open early and late for sit down, quick bites, or something from the bar. Would absolutely recommend staying here. Only suggestion to improve the experience: an in room mini fridge would be really nice and our room could have used a second lamp.

I need to say that the people that work in the hotel is great, they were very nice. The hotel is a cute small place and you are allowed to use all the amenities on the hotel next door, the Hollander.

I want to recognize the great customer service they have, they take care of the issues that you might have while staying there.

Many thanks to the management of the hotel for doing follow up on an issue that I experienced.

Great location next to the Hollander with access to the Tap Room and HH2O pool bar. No resort fee and free parking make this little boutique hotel a great place to stay. Lacking a few of the amenities the Hollander has (mini fridge access, for instance), Avalon makes up for it in the price of the room and the fact that you're essentially staying at the Hollander for less.

Lovely staff and a great pool oasis to unwind make Avalon a frequent visit for us no matter what time of the year.

Very convenient location. Friendly, helpful staff. It is right next door to it's sister hotel where you can use the facilities.
Nice pool and bar, restaurant and coffee shop. The hotels are older so the rooms and baths are small.which we expected but the lighting by the door and closet is severely lacking. Be ready to use the flashlight on your phone!

What a nice place to stay if you are visiting St. Pete.the staff welcomed warmly and the room was small but very clean and just what you need. It is an older building that has all charm and a good location to spend time being a tourist in St. Pete.

I would absolutely stay here again when we visit the area. They offer wine in the afternoon and they have this great outside porch to just relax and enjoy your wine and spend a few moments in peace.
