Avis Car Rental, Orlando FL

Fast and easy experience, but DO NOT use their toll reader. We were not verbally made aware of the cost. Almost $100 to go through a few tolls.

Booked a Mystery Car at a very reasonable AARP discounted rate. Was very pleasantly surprised with a Ford Edge.

They argued that a bag for the extra GPS was missing. I never received anything like that, and they refused to call the Talkahasse airport station, where I picked up the car, to clarify the issue.

While they had cars in stock, and I was able to secure my rental, the check engine light was on, the back left tire needed air, and I had to stop alone at a shady gas station in Orlando to get air, and I’ve never done that before so it was a learning experience. The price was nearly double what they told me it would be based on the estimations. If budget hadn’t ran out of cars last time I was visiting Orlando, I never would have chosen Avis. Two stars simply because they had a car available.

Poor service. Pre-booked, but still they did have a car with a navigation system. They made me pick up a GPS from annother station miles away. Took me an extra hour to get the system without any manual or guidance, thus it was useless. When I returned the car, they claimed, that there should be an extra bag for the GPS, which I never received. They refused to clarify the issue by phone. There are numerous better car-rentals.

I had two dead cars. The first car was dead in the rental parking lot before I even got to drive it, so I had to walk all the way back to the counter with my luggage and wait while they found another car. The second car I drove for about 45 mins when the air conditioning cut out in 90 degree weather, then after I parked it at the hotel it was dead the next day (so a total of maybe 90 miles of driving?). I called and they supposedly ordered a tow truck. I was receiving text and web alerts that a driver was on the way, and after waiting for 3 hours for the supposed time, no one showed up. I called the tow truck company and they said they never sent a driver because AVIS hadn't sent them the info. So I then called AVIS again and they sent a second tow truck (which actually showed up) after waiting another hour and a half or so. He was able to fortunately get the car started, at which point I had to drive the car to the Vero airport and exchange it for another one. I spent most of one of my beach vacation days dealing with this. I've never had an issue like this when renting from Hertz. Not a good experience at all.

UPDATE: Avis customer service reached out and was extremely helpful. I'm extremely pleased with them following up with my concerns and doing what they could to resolve it. Updating my review to 4 stars due to the great customer service experience and them addressing my concerns. Will definitely be willing to use them again in the future.

Rented a"cool car" at MCO Sept 2023. Cadillac XT6. Great car. Fair price. Great GPS system. BUT, the XM Satellite Radio never was activated in advance by AVIS and never worked. So I will have to call and get an adjustment to my final receipt.

The pick up and drop off process was very easy. The car that they gave me was brand new and exceeded all of my expectations. They also have a very helpful crew at the airport in MCO.

Please ask them to show you what are you paying before you sign anything up, once you return car you will be charged more then what you were told verbaly, they will add things that if you were told or given option to choose you will never accept those options

I'm a preferred customer and this was by far my best experience since enrollment over a year ago.

I rented a Tesla. At the checkout counter I was advised to return the car fully charged. I have never rented a Tesla before. I was given ZERO instructions about how to start, shut down, charge the car or anything else.

I was given the car with 12% charge. I have no idea how soon the car would drop to Zero! Upon seeing the charge numbers quickly decrease, I ran looking for a Charging Station.

To say I am furious with AVIS, would be a gross understatement.

It would probably be best if a Manager reached out to me.

I would have given a ZERO Star review, except the system wouldn’t let me Post unless I gave at least 1 Star.

When we arrived at Orlando airport we asked about the free upgrade email and was told no cannot use it. Then was given a SUV and made it to our hotel less than 3 miles away and the tire was almost flat. Was advised by AVIS to return it to the airport and get a different one. Went back to the airport and returned and was given a different vehicle and when we walked the entire parking garage to get it they had already given it to someone else. Walked all the way back and was given a different car that had extremely bald tires and we went back and told them no. Then the lady behind the counter started yelling saying we would just have to wait. We then asked a manager who went and found us another vehicle that was better but reeked of cigarettes. Beware if renting and check the tires!

If I could give no stars I would. Please do not run from avis! At least not from the one at MCO which is Orlando. Poor customer service & uncooperative agents.

I will never using AVIS ever again, poor customer service, spent 6 hours on the phone trying to get a tow truck to pick up a car w a dead battery and ending up being charged for full rental lease term when car was picked up 2 days early. I don't even want to give 1 star
