Avis Car Rental reviews
17Booked Tesla and paid for it accordingly. When got to the location, my only option was Chevy Malibu. They refused to reimburse me for lower level car. Car was dirty inside.
I rented a car and the car had wired smell. I talked to the gentleman who runs the AVIS at this location, he immediately replaced it and apologized. My experience was cordial and pleasant. I would recommend this location to anyone who seek to rent an affordable yet decent car for a long trip.
My experience was very positive. Great service and nice car. Only minor issue was a half tank of gas. I returned it as I received it. A half a tank.
Terrible service. Car was not filled with gas. Seems they filled to 5/8 hoping you fill upon return. SCAM selling to me. Would not recommend.
Avis reservation # 17980264US1 at Boca Raton Downtown, BT7
To whom it may concern:
I am writing in reference to the reservation number noted above. This is our third rental with Avis in the past three months from the same location and a tremendous disappointment so far. Our rental is scheduled from July 3 to August 3, and we had intended to extend our rental; however, that decision hangs in the balance dependent upon the outcome of this inquiry. We picked up our rental on July 3 and were given a Jeep Cherokee which was extremely dirty, had a nauseating odor, breaks that felt unsafe, and a gas cap cover was completely missing. When I pointed out the missing gas cap cover, I was told by two employees at this location “that all Jeep Cherokees come like that” and that nothing was missing. After I drove off with the car, I returned to the rental center to express my discomfort with driving the rental provided for all of the reasons noted above. I was told to come back after the holiday week to swap out the vehicle because they did not have any other vehicle available at that time. For one week I had to drive with my children in a car that was dirty and felt unsafe. Low and behold, we found the broken gas cap cover in the Jeep wheel well the second day we had the car.
When I returned the following Monday, I was able to successfully swap out the Jeep for a different car, a Chevrolet Traverse. The car itself feels safe, however this car was also given to us in filthy condition and my husband was forced to clean it. To make matters worse, about halfway through our road trip the change oil soon indicator light came up. How is it possible that we were given a second car from the same location with maintenance issues. Why are the employees at this location not checking these cars for cleanliness and maintenance issues before they give them to a paying customer? Not only is that horrible customer service, but it is unsafe.
We have this car until August 3. I want to know how the oil change issue will be handled at our convenience. I do not want to swap out this car because I do not know what we will end up with. Will the car be dirty? Will it be safe? Will it need maintenance that was overlooked? I also would like to be fairly compensated for all of these inconveniences and issues.
I appreciate your prompt response and consideration.
Sincerely,
Heather Cornett
Horrible experience. Left waiting for a tow truck for 5 hours after a flat tire. No spare tire in car either
Convenient city location. I wish they had enough employees to do local pickup and drop off. It used to have a gas pump to make sure you were getting a full tank to start with. Overall 5*s
The guys at the rental desk are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Their energy is exactly what is needed in a service based business.
Never EVER again. I usually use Hertz but thought I would try Avis for a quick rental. Mistake. Customer service was awful. Vehicle was heavily smoked in. Unacceptable. You get what you pay for.
I have emailed a detailed explanation directly to Avis. In short, a nasty counter rep, nasty without any provocation to every customer, plus a car that reeked of cigarette smoke. Never again.
Overcharged by $1303. Customer service agreed that it was an overcharge, but would not confirm anything in writing about a refund. Threatened to cancel the refund request when I asked to speak to a supervisor.
Upon pick-up of vehicle, they just gave me the keys and said good luck. Did not take me outside to say what vehicle it was or give any information.
Truck did not have as much gas as indicated on the receipt, windshield washer fluid was completely empty, and there was garbage in the glove box. Overall cleanliness was not amazing.
I booked Tesla, class - Midsize Electric, prepaid, and received confirmation by mail and a reminder, both letters had Tesla. When I arrived to pick up the car the manager said that I booked a Mustang, a class - two-door coupe. To my objections, he showed me the monitor of his system as an argument. He said that this is my problem, he doesn’t have a Tesla, and the solutions are to take what he has an SUV or Mustang, and hurry up because he has clients. As if I'm not a client already, apparently because I prepaid and they already take my money.
I prepaid for a bigger car and upon pickup they dint have it - I had no choice but to take what was available - a smaller car. The agent at counter nor the online customer service could adjust my bill to reflect the smaller car. Online customer service was the worst - would not even extend the rental with a discount - it’s the least they could do having given me a smaller that reserved car. Would recommend everyone try elsewhere first before avis. And they call me a preferred member lol!
I was given a filthy beat up car and charge $300 for returning the same filthy beat up car. Your customer care is as bad as your car
What a disservice and disappointment. The car that I received was filthy both inside and out. I was in a hurry and the team there seemed like they could not be bothered. It’s ok though. I take pride in what I do, so I took my time and my money to make sure that the car I returned was in much better shape for the next customer than what I had. It’s pretty obvious that this particular Avis has zero pride or concept of work ethics and appreciation. Please do yourself a favor to save both time and money and shop somewhere else. Please do better Avis
Avis in Boca is a distant number 2 to Hertz from my experience this first time at Avis. Unless you protest you are given a car that is dusty, not properly vacuumed, has manual seat adjustments and even then you have to go back for window washer fluid after the first time you try to use it.
I have used this Avis on Multiple occasions and every time was great. Each time I rented a vehicle I returned it back in the same condition, I cleaned it and refilled it with gas before returning their vehicle (the least I can do). As a small business owner I appreciate their service.
