Avis Car Rental, Fort Lauderdale FL

Alex took very good care of us Nov 2023. Got us in and out quickly, anticipated and answered all of our questions and helped us in every way possible all the time being warm, friendly and professional. The car was great but the service was even better!

I would strongly advise against renting a car from this company due to their tendency to charge extra fees without valid reason.

As an Avis preferred Select I had a reservation that was not honored as I did not have a corporate ID with me. As I with for a small company we do not have corporate ID card so he changed the reservation. I screamed. He gave me the corporate rate after he changed the return location to the local office and not MIA where the original reservation was for. So I am not taking transportation to mia on my own.

The tank was 1/2 full which was not noted on my contact and I was told if I returned it full I would not get credit for filling the tank
I had a reservation for noon and arrived at 315 and was greeted with. "Your 3 Hours late"

I will never use this location again and suggest you don't either

Customer service was great the staff was friendly and prepared. Was able to rent two cars for my family in an efficient time with clean great rentals. I will rent here again.

Poor service
Asking for replacement because of the flat tire, and got no response….
So I need to replace by myself

I’ve never had an issue using a credit card and the girl at the front would not rent to me when I’ve used the same card from this exact location 10+ times, Avis across the nation dozens of times and every time I get this one specific women at the front I always have an issue at this location. Do better Avis.

The agent we got was noticeably more hostile towards us once she realised we were European, she was unhelpful and rude. Not to mention that the car we payed for smelled like strong urine and was dirty inside and out. We waited for an hour at the airport, the service was insanely slow and then they couldn’t even provide us with an acceptable car! We could get the car exchanged free of charge but the fact that they rented us a car which could’ve been a serious health hazard is insane. It shows that they didn’t even bother to check the condition of the vehicle before giving us the keys. The smell of urine in a car can be the sign of molding in the AC. Seriously embarrassing for Avis.

The counter staff deserves 5 stars, but the phone help is awful and there’s no way to call the location directly, as all calls get routed to a call center in India where they don’t know anything other than how to read from their woefully inadequate scripts. I had to actually drive to the location to get my problem resolved, and it was not close or convenient.

I was very pleased with my recent rental from the Fort Lauderdale airport location. I was given a nice vehicle to drive for the three days before my cruise. They pick up and drop off were extremely easy. The staff does an outstanding job and providing excellent customer service.
