Backwater Cat Adventure, Fernandina Beach FL

Cumberland Island was on my bucket list and what better way to see it? ! Made for a great 31st Wedding Anniversary as well!

We had an awesome experience. Our guide reached out when the forecast turned sour for our scheduled date and helped us find a beautiful day that worked with our travel plans. My husband loved how fast the boats went, and it was a great way to introduce him to the natural beauty of where I grew up!

Wonderful experience - the boats are easy and fun to drive and we had such a great time exploring the area. Lots of great scenery and we learned a lot about the area and cool tidbits of history. Highly recommend whether you’re a local or visiting!

We had a great time despite some rain! Our tour guide made sure everyone was comfortable with driving the boats before we took off and even took pictures of everyone throughout the trip. We were able to see several dolphins up close and some wild horses. We would love to do this again when it’s warmer! It was also nice to have a personal cooler on each boat for drinks and snacks.

My daughter and I thought this would be fun so we took the adventure and it did not disappoint! We had a blast driving the boat to Cumberland Island. We saw the wildlife, picked up some neat shells, and rode the waves! So much fun and great memories! Thank you Backwater Cat Adventure!

Did the Amelia island 2.5 hour tour. Chris (the leader) was great, had a lot of information and shared it well. Driving the catboats was a blast but the best thrills were seeing wild horses, dolphins, and a “smack” (hundreds) of jellyfish and the backwater areas. Will bring friends in the future

We had so much fun! The boats are very easy to drive and at speed they offer an exhilarating experience! Our guide was knowledgeable, the views along the route were captivating, and the sea life was so much fun to watch…. Dolphins so close you could reach out and touch them (but we didn’t)! We will definitely do this again and want our kids and grandkids to enjoy the experience too!

Had a WONDERFUL excursion and HIGHLY recommend. We had family visiting from New Mexico and decided to book the 2.5 hour trip (the 2: 30 slot) and luckily the weather was perfect. We saw several dolphins along the way and when we arrive at Cumberland Island we were able to walk up to the wild horses and get a few photo ops. Also found a few nice shells as we strolled along the beach. The ocean side view of Fort Clinch, is pretty amazing. You are able to get a good picture of the whole structure. We didn’t get to stop, but if you are familiar with the movie “Pippi Longstockings”, it’s a whole different view of the house where it was filmed.

We had a great time! The conditions were amazing and the boat was really fun! Would recommend for sure.

AMAZING! We were only in town for two short days and this was the highlight. My husband, 20 year old son and I had a great afternoon. THANKS!

Wish I could give 7 stars! What a great tour! These little boats are so much fun. We saw dolphins and a manatee. Got off at a beach where we were able to stretch our legs and hunt cool shells. Highly recommend!

This was AWESOME and soo much fun! My husband and I did this activity while we were on our honeymoon and we really look forward to coming again. The guides were so helpful and informative while still giving us time to explore. Driving the boat is not hard at all. Its like a Go Kart on water.

This was an awesome boating experience. Kris was great at explaining how to drive the boat. Guided tour was excellent. We really enjoyed our 9am time, it wasn't too hot. Saw the wild horses and dolphins!
