I’ve been meaning to leave a review. I’ve always wanted to do a natural at home birth and I’m so grateful I chose this company to do it with! My midwifes were Erica and Bennett. These ladies are soo nice and knowledgeable. They always made sure I understood everything along the entire pregnancy. As a first time mom they offer birthing classes which were so helpful, especially for my husband. When it came time Erica was the one on call, she came to my house. She made sure both baby and I were doing good. My husband made a comment how both calm and knowledgeable both Erica and Bennett were during the whole process. He felt very at ease. It was such a magical experience welcoming our daughter into the world. We will definitely use them again for our future children. You will not regret choosing them. I LOVED my birth experience.

Charlie has attended my last 3 births all at home, with Bennett attending one as a 2nd midwife. I have also had prenatal care from all 3 (Charlie, Bennett, and Erica) of the midwives at Barefoot, and can not express enough how amazing it was to have their treatment and care be so thoughtful, compassionate and thorough. It didn't matter who was doing my visit, all of them were knowledgeable on my individual history, they would validate my feelings and often ask how I wanted my care to look like. If there was a question I had, or they had, we went over risks and benefits and I felt like I had true informed consent in all of my decisions, and management of my prenatal care. Including seeing specialists as needed, to make sure baby and I were safe and healthy. They are body positive and inclusive which has helped my confidence in knowing they really are just an amazing group. Regularly, they went above and beyond to check on me, as a person, not just a client, or a number like I previously felt with an OBGYN. My births typically happen fast, and I have had a midwife show up exactly when needed, even with the drive being a city over and unpredictable traffic. My labor and deliveries have always been autonomous, physiological, and hands off when wanted, if an intervention was needed it was calmly explained, with the mutual understanding the least invasive option is being given first, and going from there. That full informed consent, was so empowering. The entire team is truly on the birthing person's side to have the safest and best delivery possible! It truly feels like you are a part of a family with them, and I can not give enough praise and gratitude to how they hold space for birth to happen. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

My last 2 births have been under the care of Charlie, Bennett and Erica. Because of my age and risk we chose to have hospital births but all prenatal care was done at the Barefoot Birth office. Bennett acted as my midwife doula with my last sweet babe. Not sure I could’ve made it without her! The office visits are a totally different experience from a drs office but with top notch knowledge and expertise. They allow extra time between clients So that you never feel rushed and all your questions and concerns are addressed. The setting is like being home and not an office, so welcoming and comfortable. After your birth, they come to you for your after care visit! Amazing. I cannot recommend them enough! ️

Charlie and her team of midwives are absolutely wonderful and will always hold a special place in my heart! I gave birth to my beautiful daughter in the comfort of my own home with the help of the amazing midwives at Barefoot Birth. Leading up to this decision I had heard so many horror stories from family members and friends giving birth at the hospital involving unnecessary interventions and traumatic birth experiences so due to that and also due to the Covid-pandemic I decided to aim for a home birth. My good friend recommended Barefoot Birth to me and I'm so so glad I chose them! Their prenatal care was very thorough and smooth and I loved being able to have all the appointments in my own bed at my own house. Whenever I had a question or concern throughout the process, they were always quick to respond. The actual birthing process was naturally intense but throughout it all I was feeling so very well taken care of by Bennett, Erica and Ashley, which was extremely reassuring to me and I trusted them completely. They are absolut professionals and their passion for this field shines through. I was able to bring my sweet daughter into this world safely and by letting my own body guide me through the process. I will always be grateful for this experience and I highly recommend Barefoot Birth to anyone who is interested in prenatal care and home birth services.

My experience with Barefoot Birth was excellent! Charlie, Bennett and Erica provided wonderful, personalized prenatal care and were thoughtful and personable, yet professional, at each visit. I appreciated being empowered to make informed decisions about my pregnancy and delivery. My delivery was quick and perfect in every way. I am so grateful for my first homebirth experience and highly recommend this practice!

Our experience with Barefoot Birth was amazing. We prayed and cried and pushed through every challenge to experience a non-medicated VBAC and we got it! I want to thank my midwife Charlie and the team at Barefoot Birth for welcoming my family and I with open arms and for all the support, care, and education that was given to us. Barefoot Birth was recommended to me by a couple of my friends and I feel blessed to had chosen them for my prenatal care. I couldn’t have done it with out you all! I had a hospital birth but they made sure I was in great hands and well taken care of!

I started seeing barefoot and Charlie was really nice. I seen another midwife Erica and she really focused on my weight and some of the things she said I don’t know if she was aware of what she was saying was not the right approach. After that I switched to a different Midwife, they never reached out to ask why I discontinued care or sent my records to the new midwife. Maybe they are nice for some people but I didn’t get the same experience.

The amount of times i have had to retype this is unknown. It’s hard to see the screen when your eyes are flooded with tears. Tears of gratitude and love. I cannot put into words the feelings, emotions and the empowerment that came along with my experience with Barefoot Birth. I had a very rough pregnancy dealing with hyperemesis and wanted nothing more than a great birthing experience. I wanted this time to be different. I started off with writing a birth plan with the help of Charlie. She sat down with my wife and i and talked us through it. We would have never aligned and been on the same page without her help. Just a few short weeks later it was go time! Charlie instilled a sense of strength in me i didn’t know i had. I doubted myself along the way so many times but she motivated and pushed me in a way i didn’t know was possible. She wasn’t saying you can do it or you got this but with every tough contraction to get through she reminded me that i was getting closer to meet my baby. She helped guide my wife to be the best support system she could have been and that just about blew the ceiling off the room for me! I had everything that i needed to get through. I was in labor for 18 hours and my goal was to labor and deliver without medication. I wanted to be fully present in this moment and feel my baby enter the world. I accomplished this goal. I seriously cannot believe the how wonderful Charlie was throughout the entire experience. She even stuck lavender in my pillow! It’s seriously the little things. Once my baby was born she was the biggest advocate and got us the proper care and most importantly the skin to skin time that mama and baby need. I honestly would have another baby just to experience such a powerful moment again!

My time with Barefoot Birth was nothing short of incredible, I truly feel lucky I found Charlie, Erica, Bennett.

I found out I was pregnant 10 days after the stay at home order went into place in Florida, so not only was I having to navigate through life changing news of bringing a baby into this world, I was also having to do it in the thick of life changing world events and isolation.

As I started the process of thinking about what I wanted out of my prenatal and birth experience, I knew I wanted to find a Midwife and try for a home birth after hearing about my best friends experiences with her two home births. I wanted a more personalized, less invasive care. I wanted to be able to make informed decisions for myself, not be told what I should or shouldn’t do. I wanted a relationship with the people that were going to be there during one of the most intimate moments of my life, and that’s exactly what I got with Barefoot Birth.

My birth was fairly quick for a first time mom- my water broke at 10PM and baby girl was out by 1AM. Erica coached me through exactly what I needed to hear in order to get my baby earth side. I quite possibly couldn’t have done it without her guidance.

Although my home birth was successful and I was greeted with immense joy that my baby girl was here, something in me felt off. I felt off.
Erica, Bennett, Ashley and Brandi spent the next 4 hours trying to help me recover from my quick, intense birth but I had lost a lot of blood. They did everything they possibly could to let me try to recover in the comfort of my own home but ultimately my body was not able to recover on its own and I needed to transfer to the hospital. They made sure the transfer went as smooth as possible. Since I couldn’t even get out of bed they helped pack a bag for me, they helped my partner strap our 4 hour old baby into the car seat for the first time so they could meet me at the hospital and they cleaned up and left our home ready for us to come back to.

I ended up getting a blood transfusion and recovered there for the next 24hrs. I was in contact with Erica, Bennett and Brandi the entire time. They called and texted to check in on me and baby. I was so thankful that my time with them didn’t just stop after giving birth but that they truly cared about my well-being post birth.

We are 3 months postpartum and I know I can STILL call them for any question small or big. If you are questioning whether or not to have a home birth, set up a consultation to talk with the Midwives. You will find that it is like chatting with an old friend, and you’ll never look back.

I got my placenta encapsulation done here. Brandi was so nice and came and got it from the hospital and then brought it to my house the day after I got home. The pills have help out with a lot. I am so glad we chose to do this. Thank you so much. You will see me in a class over there soon!

There are some people that come into our lives that we appreciate on a completely different level. Our midwives were these kind of people for us during 2020. For me, from the moment I first called Charlie to ask questions about homebirth options, I had such peace. She answered all of my many questions and gave me direction on things I might need to convince my husband that it was worth going this “atypical” route. Almost six months after our little guy’s birth and I still smile at the thought of how empowered our midwives made me feel.

Giving birth during a pandemic is quite an emotional and tough road to travel but honestly, we didn’t know any different. While in quarantine, thankfully the sidewalks remained opened and the grass continued to grow. Walks and lawn mowing were two of my favorite past times. I drank all the water, ate the dates, laughed as much as I could, and found that yoga kept me sane. Instead of getting onto me for “pushing myself too hard, ” Charlie, Erica, and Bennett all cheered me on to keep doing my “normal. ” With each appointment, I grew much closer with the girls individually and grew ever more grateful that we made the switch from our OB practice to Barefoot Birth.

Our little guy made a fast entrance into the world on August 22,2020 at 3: 50pm. Even though we followed all of the protocols on when to call the midwives, he was making his appearance much quicker than any of us expected. Once Bennett and Erica arrived on the scene, he arrived about forty-five minutes later. He made his grand entrance with a large burst of my water breaking followed by two pushes. About four minutes after my water broke, Camden was caught by Erica and placed in my arms.

With a quick delivery and a nuchal arm, there was tearing to be expected. Erica and Bennett assured me that they would take their time and I was to enjoy my little guy while they fixed me up. These girls were fabulous in every way. While Bennett kept me distracted with her childhood stories and relatable experiences, Erica was determined to do the very best job stitching me up. This duo was exactly what my heart and mind needed.

After giving birth, breastfeeding did not come as easily as I had hoped it would. I struggled to enjoy it. He struggled to latch. We both struggled with understanding how it all worked. However, through all of this confusion, lack of sleep, and the tears I cried Erica, Bennett, and Charlie supported me and reminded me of my strength. Even though these last 5 ½ months have not been easy, they have been the most rewarding. Everyday I get to snuggle my greatest achievement to date.

When I am feeling like my world is closing in, oftentimes I remind myself that I am kind of like a superhero doing superhero things ;) Thank you Barefoot girls for helping me give life to what started out as just a little dream of mine. I get to be a momma and empower other women to fight for what they want too, whether that is hospital or home birth, epidural or all natural. Thank you for being a part of this chapter of our lives and allowing us to take that final August delivery spot. You girls ROCK!

I had my dream birth thanks to the wonderful care at Barefoot birth. From the very first meeting to the last postpartum appointment the care was incredible, mindful, caring, the list goes on. I never once felt rushed in an appointment or felt like I wasn't asking the right questions. I felt informed and in control of my decisions. I LOVED that I was able to go to my appointments with my husband and 3 year old. This was incredibly important to us as we wanted our son to feel part of the process. During labor my midwifes were there to help but allowed me to listen to my body. I could not recommend them more. Thank you Bennett, Erica, Ashley, and Charlie for being advocates for natural birth <3

We had our second home birth with Barefoot Birth and are thrilled with our experience. We loved our first experience with them and had such an amazing experience with them this time even in the midst of Covid.
Erica was attentive and put our minds at ease with any question or concern we had. We were able to have our son there for most of the birth and Erica took amazing care of both our newborn and me! I felt at ease the entire birth and I would definitely use Barefoot birth a third time if we have another pregnancy!
I highly recommend them!

We had our baby at home on July 31,2020. I can't even begin to express how thankful I am for the ladies at Barefoot birth. This was our forth pregnancy and first homebirth. I met Charlie A few years back and told my husband if we ever had another baby We were having a home birth. I contacted Charlie as soon as I knew I was pregnant and she helped me figure out the insurance stuff and took on my care. Never did my husband or I feel like just a file in a office. Every visit they took the time to listen to everything I had to say and They never treated me like it was something I should know being my forth baby or that it wasn't important. I was never treated any different because of my age when other OB's and nurse midwives would have considered high risk! When the Covid restrictions started for care providers they still went above and beyond to give the best care they could. This was by far my best pregnancy and birth. Under their care I didn't suffer any of the depression or anxiety I have in the the other pregnancies and I believe that is because I never felt pressured or judged in by them. I didn't fear my birth like past hospital ones due to trauma. I actually miss my appointments with them!
My birth was everything I wanted it to be. They made it quickly to my house and had everything ready when Baby Grayson decided to come 3 weeks before his guess date! Erica and Bennett were so helpful at keeping me calm just by giving off their calm and confident vibes! They were hands off unless I asked or they needed to check baby. When he was born they made sure him and I were great helped clean everything up and helped me shower before leaving us to be with our family. I could not have done it without them.
Charlie, Bennett and Erica are amazing and knowledgeable! They truly care and love what they do! I highly recommend you choose them for care!

A week after our precious home birth and I’m still in awe of the level of care and support Barefoot provides. I miss our appointments already!

My husband and I knew we wanted a home birth when we started trying to get pregnant, and from a friends referral, we knew Barefoot would be our first call. From our first consultation with Charlie just before we conceived, to our prenatal care, childbirth education, labor, delivery, and postpartum support they always made us feel like a priority. Each midwife brings such a sweet presence and peace that made us feel right at home knowing they would meet us right where we were at every step of the way.

Our prenatal care was so gentle and personalized. Each appointment was tailored to whatever we needed. Our conversations never felt rushed or questions pushed aside. Between their support, Rachel’s guidance in our birthing classes, and all the books I read about natural birth, I felt perfectly prepared when our day finally arrived.

Throughout labor I felt empowered to respond to my body in whatever way I needed without thoughts of doubt or fear. They were encouraging and supportive every step of the way, while allowing me space to explore each sensation and our boy was born peacefully into my arms.

Postpartum they have answered every call and encouraged my natural instincts, helping me to settle into motherhood in my own power.

Having been part of one of the most intimate experiences of my life, we consider them all family.

Not a doubt in our minds that they will be our people in future prenatal care and births.

I had the most amazing experience with Barefoot birth! Charlie, Bennett & Erica were exactly what I needed to gain the confidence that I needed back after being told by my OB I would need a C section. I was always healthy and low risk but I was told I was “to small” to deliver vaginally. That was a lie! I gave birth to a giant baby (8lbs16oz) naturally and peaceful because of them. I was able to trust my own body after receiving their care and my appointments were never uncomfortable experiences like going to my OB. I definitely recommend their assistance. You won’t regret it! Most beautiful experience I’ve ever had thanks to all 3 of them! Definitely planning my next child with their assistance again! They are amazing!

After an emergency C-section with my first, I was determined to have the natural birth I felt robbed of with my second. Expressing my anxiety at another C section to a stranger (could you tell how nervous I was) led me to Barefoot Birth at 6 months pregnant. Charlie was amazing. She is real and delivers facts. She armed me with the information I needed to have the birth I wanted. She is empathetic and compassionate. Erica and Bennet were also gems although I only saw Charlie for ninety percent of my visits. Charlie introduced me to my saint of a doula who coached and helped me thru my entire labor and birth. It was the most beautiful experience of my life. My births were completely different & I learned to advocate for myself. Now I’m a brown girl and the statistics especially for us preggos are not in our favor! Doctors can railroad us into what is more convenient for them instead of what our bodies are made to do. I can’t stress enough how amazing this tribe of women are! I tell every mama I come across about Barefoot Birth! Love this place

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Barefoot Birth midwives were the ONLY providers I could find to support our pregnancy and birth choices and plans. We planned a very hands off pregnancy and birth with little to no interventions and they went above and beyond to make this happen. They searched for other providers who would collaborate with us when needed, and support our choice to decline testing and interventions when we felt comfortable doing so. We were never pressured to go against our wishes and educated decisions. We were continually supported and encouraged to make our own educated choices. We felt safe and supported and loved every step of the way. We will definitely be calling barefoot birth for any future pregnancies (if that happens!) and recommend them to everyone we know!

I had the most amazing experience here at one of Charlie's workshops last weekend. I learned so much about all aspects of being a doula. Charlie truly cares about the birth workers in her community and she cares deeply about the women they serve. I can't wait to take another workshop at The Roots!
