Bern's Steak House, Tampa FL

By far, the BEST restaurant I’ve been to in my life. The only French onion soup I’ll eat. The dry aged steak. The personal and genuine service. The ambiance. The dessert bar with its sweets, drinks, and aesthetics.
Cant wait to go back

We wanted to love this place as it was the first time there. However it didn't meet our expectations for what it cost. I asked that my steak be just slightly pink, it was almost red. I have to say I have had more tender steak. My greenbeans were cold, soup was so salty we couldn't finish it. My salad and baked potato was fine. Our service was excellent. We had the tour of kitchen and wine cellar which was interesting. Ordered a chocolate cake dessert, was dry and wasn't to our liking. After being there almost 4 hours total we were ready to go. Sorry but won't be back.

I been here twice and their steaks are delicious! Although, they are pricey, it's an amazing experience to enjoy once in a while. Our waiter was very friendly, outgoing, and professional. Everything we ordered came out perfect and delicious. I would recommend this place. Awesome experience! Thank you!

I have been here a few times, but just wanna update my experience. I have come here and never have Bern’s disappointment me. The service is phenomenal. This place always make my steak correctly! The meat is so tender and juicy. The truffle fries is my favorite and their truffle Mac and cheese, delicious! Must try their oysters, highly recommend the East oysters with caviar on top with their melted truffle, olive oil, lemon, citrus, and butter sauce! Highly recommended! Never disappoint! Also, don’t forget dessert! Their crème brûlée is so good! But they have a very huge dessert selection and a dessert room!

Second time here, went with my family for my mom’s birthday and we had such a great time. Excellent service and excellent food. Our server, Lee, was so knowledgeable about the steaks and wine list. He picked the perfect wine for us that was within the price range we were comfortable with and reassured us we won’t be disappointed and he was absolutely right! The tour of the kitchen and wine cellar is a must! Seeing the chaos behind the scenes made us appreciate the hard work that was put into our wonderful night. We will definitely be back!

Based on reputation and reviews we anticipated a stellar meal. However, our experience was mixed. Service and atmosphere were very good. Steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. Potato was also very good. Onion soup was salty and without onions or much character. Caesar salad had so much dressing, and had sat so long that the lettuce was limp. Green beans were a bit over cooked, and just barely warm. But my biggest disappointment was the Bearnaise Sauce. I'm in my 70's, and have enjoyed steaks accompanied by this wonderful sauce in countless restaurants, high and low. Berns' sauce did not have the distinctive flavor of Bearnaise, instead the predominant taste was vinegar. We were a party of 9, and about half of us were completely satisfied with our experience. I frankly have had better meals coating half as much.

Very easy to want to try everything and go waaaay overboard. That said, I wouldn't mind portions being cut in half, massive dishes with all the bells and whistles- soups, breads, salads. To the food.caviar, worth every penny. Foie gras, delicious. Being a steak place, I was not impressed with the cook on the steak my mother had ordered, not to mention the lack of salt and pepper. We would have corrected it but it was already 11pm at this time so it would've taken forever to get it back. However, the atmosphere is top notch and the desserts and the dessert rooms are supremely unique and out of this world!

I have only been to the dessert room so far but plan to get dinner one day soon. Service is phenomenal.

The steaks are always amazing, the service 5 star and the ambiance relaxing. It's worth every penny!

This is my favorite restaurant on the planet, and when we visit Tampa we NEVER miss a chance to visit Bern's!

Beautiful atmosphere, historic! Has one of the biggest wine cellars in a restaurant in America! The steaks are delicious. Service was the best! The dessert room is a experience!

You can't live in Tampa or visit without trying the famous Berns Steak house! The food is absolutely delicious and a wonderful feast not to be missed. From an intimate dinner for two, or a large group, the staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and a delight. The wine cellar kitchen tour and dessert rooms are a must!

Wow. Excellent Steakhouse - definitely one of the better restaurants in Florida. In my opinion, it's the transparency of the operation that impressed me the most, from the details provided on the front of the menu to the tour of the kitchen to see how the food was prepared along with information about the operation, and then the tour of what has to be easily the largest wine celler in all of Florida - I believe they said they have over 100,000+ bottles of wine on the premises with another 700,000+ in their warehouse! The place is amazing. We had a fantastic meal, an interesting tour of the place, and then dessert in their dessert room with live piano music and in-house made desserts! In fact, everything we had was made there, the breads, the sauces, the dressings, the soup, etc. And all of it was excellent. Definitely have to try the Macadamia Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette on your salad! And we tried the Gorgonzola Fondue as our steak sauce, it was really good! This is a must try if you like steakhouses - this is definitely one of the best in Florida. Before visiting, be sure to read about their dress code on their website, it is very important. And book way in advance (60 days is the max they book in advance) - it's not easy getting a reservation at this place, we know because it took about 6 attempts before we finally managed to get one!

Bern's is an experience that everyone MUST do. From the staff to the food it is all top notch service. It is valuable for the quality of food you receive. Literal goosebumps when eating!

2nd time here. Took my mom here for her birthday. It was absolutely amazing. Look forward to going again next year.

It’s like sitting in a museum with GREAT servers and the BEST wine collection and WEIRD food.
Like, salty fish fillet and a GREEN Escargot with some burnt cheese on top. I thought you can’t screw up an Escargot. Well they did it.

The food here used to be good, years ago.

But I guess they don’t need to make great food any more, because they are so famous. Now they can make weird food that tastes gross and people will just accept that, because they don’t know any better.

Highly overrated.

Definitely a date night steakhouse! An experience beyond just food, this is a top destination in Tampa. Dress to impress, and save room for dessert.
