Mom had to be flown up from FL to NY and Beth Israel provided excellent services. They allowed my husband to play the guitar when people were entering, we had a slide show and pictures out on a table, we had an opera singer, Rabbi Jack was fantastic, and they worked with us 100%. I would highly recommend Beth Israel to anyone who needs their services. Also, my mom always wanted a pink casket, and Brian Moloney made sure our wishes were met, which was more difficult that expected. Thank you to all who helped us get get through such a difficult time. It is so greatly appreciated.

The Beth Israel team were all wonderful to work with for my father's funeral. It's an incredibly challenging time and they made the experience as special as possible. We thank Mark and Ed for their kindness and help with everything.

Truly Unnerving & A Monumental Disappointment!

My Mother already wrote a review about our experience but I just want to echo the sentiment here and provide further detail about our experience with my Grandmother's Funeral.

1. My Grandmother did NOT look like herself at all!

This was jarring. I looked at her for the viewing and my brain couldn't process that it was the same person. She looked gaunt, boney, and lifeless.

Her makeup was not accurate. Her hair was unkempt. Her face was sunken in. It was truly awful.

I understand that's what happens to a body without post-mortem treatment, but the entire point of a funeral home is to have a viewing that shows the person as they WERE not as they are NOW.

2. They dismissed our feelings.

When this concern was brought up to the supervisor who was there to help us conduct the service he was very dismissive.

Mind you, we were all emotional but we approached him in a calm demeanor asking a reasonable question: "Is this our Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother? Are you sure? "

Instead of saying: "You know what, let me double check. " -or- "I'm so sorry you're having this experience right now let me see if I can make things right. "

We were told: "In the 42 years I've been working here we've never had a mix up! "

Is that an appropriate response to a grieving family?

Even if you're at an Apple Bee's and say: "This isn't what I ordered. " The 17 year old who just brought you out your meal has more tact, class, and understanding of basic customer service principles than the man who was responsible for taking care of us during our time of need.

Beth Israel Boynton should be ashamed of themselves for presenting my Grandmother in that way, for dismissing my Mother and her family during their time of intense loss, and for not even providing us with a Guest Book to keep track of who was in attendance.

The whole thing was a monumental disappointment and I hope no other families, friends, or loved ones experience something like this ever again.

Oh and the cherry on top is they don't even hire Jews to take care of Jewish families. The whole thing was a farce.

If I could pick zero stars, I would for this funeral home. My mother was dishonored by her body, not even looking remotely like her in life. I would encourage anyone looking for a funeral home for their loved one to avoid this one at all costs. I provided a photograph, and they totally dismissed it as my mother must’ve been quickly prepared as soon as she arrived at the funeral home. There was no guestbook for guests to sign. Most of the people that work there are non-Jews. This was very traumatic for myself and my family to not even be prepared prior to seeing my mother that she was going to look like just a corpse. I made them check the tags in her body. Jewelry was missing as well when she was transferred from the hospital. Shame on them for passing themselves off as caring and respectful of Jewish people who have passed on. I will be contacting their corporate office to address this further.

We had our father’s funeral service at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach Florida 6 years ago and with the passing of our mother in August we knew that was the only place to have hers as well and that the arrangements would be handled with absolute compassion and care from start to finish. Gina the funeral director was awesome she coordinated all of the arrangements and put together a beautiful slide show for us. The chapel itself is so clean and peaceful and the entire staff is so helpful and kind.

Grieving the loss of my beloved father in March 2020, my family made the decision to relocate my mother to the serene landscapes of North Carolina. However, as time passed, we realized that finding solace would entail reuniting my father's remains with us, so that one day my parents could rest side by side, granting us easy access to honor their memory at our cherished local cemetery.

In our quest for a seamless and emotionally delicate endeavor, we were led to the remarkable Claire Piche, Area Operations Director at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, where my father was originally interred. From our very first contact, it became evident that Claire possessed an unparalleled level of knowledge, responsiveness, and genuine care. Her empathetic nature left me in awe, as she effortlessly handled every aspect of this sacred journey.

Today, I am humbled and eternally grateful to Claire and her exceptional team for making the impossible, possible. With my father now peacefully residing here in the embrace of Asheville, my heart brims with gratitude.
