Blackfin Bistro, Key West FL

Service here is the star of the experience at Blackfin. Bogdan (sp?), Irene (I think I'm remembering her name correctly), and another woman, whom I failed to get her name, provided very professional yet very welcoming and attentive service.

I ordered the gazpacho which didn't disappoint despite it not being in the style I'm accostomed to. I also had the shrimp bisque which was on special. On its own, the flavors were a bit muddled, however when paired with the wine that Bogdan suggested (Sav. Blanc out of New Zealand) it opened up and was much more enjoyable. For my main, I ordered a pound of mussels with chorizo, plus the grilled octopus on special. The mussels were great however I was a bit puzzled why they were served with fries, as the oil from the fries muted the wonderful flavors from the mussels. When I was given more bread it fit with the dish better. The only real miss was the octopus. My first bite was great, however the thickest tentacles got over grilled this caused it to be tough and overly chewy. A soy sauce and balsamic reduction were drizzled over the dish along with some sort of a garlic and olive oil (I'm guessing on this second sauce) emulsion. This second sauce didn't really belong in my opinion, and they were a bit heavy handed with the soy sauce balsamic reduction. I finished off the meal with the tiramisu which was satisfying. Throw in a couple beers and overall I was a happy well fed man!

When in Key West this place is worth trying out. I think they have something for everyone.

Beautiful place, friendly staff and delicious food. We couldn't be more thrilled to spend our first evening out in Key West, dining at the Blackfin Bistro. The location was perfect and towards the more "sophisticated" part of the busy Duval street which meant we could truly enjoy our meal with a true 360 ambience around the experience. Thank you to Gabor for recommending the specials of the house to us, we were really impressed by the way you had added an extra layer of flavour to the dishes.

Couldn't recommend it more. Do try to go here at least once for a true gastronomic experience.

Amazing food and really good quality. You can’t miss the wagyu burger, incredible! If you like the seafood go for the shrimp pronvençal, you will love it They have a good service and atmosphere too. Definitely a place to be back

A nice cheese plate with two cheese, apples, blueberries, nuts, is only $14 ya'll. Pair with a great glass of wine. Wagyu burger medium is crazy good. Great management.

First time to the Keys and first restaurant we visited. Small interior with dark finishings makes for a romantic mood. Wine and beer options were great but we stuck to water after a day of travel. We had two specials: a grilled octopus with a tempura fried avocado and a sauce that was to die for as well as a tilefish (I think that's what it was called?) with rice and broccoli in yet another delicious sauce. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant to interact with. So glad we stopped in!

Nice people, great food, a trip to KW is not complete without a visit here. At the north end of Duval but definitely worth the walk. I'm a local and this is one of my favs.

Had an amazing meal here! We watched a few different groups of locals come in while we were here - it’s evident that it’s a beloved spot! We also have a broad range of dietary preferences and everyone had something they loved (fish to burgers to pasta to salads) and the staff was very kind, welcoming and patient - we were so impressed by how hard they worked and how gracefully they navigated the small space & worked together! We had an amazing meal and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommend!

This place is fantastic! As a foodie this place is on point, great service and recommendations from the staff, the food was amazing, and must dinner experience when you are in Key West!

I got the seafood pasta and it was amazing! I love the creamy sauce. I modified it and got no mussels and extra shrimp! It was perfection. My family and I sat on the back patio and it was dreamy!

One of Key West best kept secrets. The back garden is amazing and you would never know it’s there. In fact you would never expect the food and service just by looking at it from the street. DONT GET THIS ONE GET BY.

We are here on our honeymoon from AZ and writing this before we even leave because we are so blown away. Hands down the best service, food and restaurant we have been to in a very long time! If you are in Key West- this should be a definite place to stop.

Got in without a reservation. We sat in the enclosed courtyard, in the back of the restaurant. Lovely cheese plate and Niçoise salad. The jazzy music and string lights were a nice touch. Seemed a little more upscale that most restaurants on the island. We all enjoyed our food. I would return.
