Absolutely disgusted with the care given at this “emergency pet hospital”. Took my cat in as he suddenly was experiencing extreme labored breathing, they did an ultrasound and concluded that my cat most likely had FIP due to pockets of fluid found in his lungs, and would not last long if that was the case. I was suggested to put my cat down before receiving any diagnosis or any specialist reviewed this. BluePearl then changed his potential diagnosis to heart failure after running other tests. Heart failure will of course require an Echo to confirm this, but BluePearl was aware that he would not be able to get an Echocardiogram for four more days because this hospital is closed for a day and a half during the week and they do not have proper specialists available. Instead of this hospital immediately having us transfer him to UF, they kept him for another 12 hours and communicated only with themselves that my cat would either eventually have to be transferred, or they would send him home until they got the proper specialists. My cat couldn’t breathe without oxygen, he could not have gone home and should have been transferred as soon as they were aware he needed an echo that they were not capable of giving instead of staying another 12 hours and charging us $2400 to provide hospice for my cat with zero proper assistance. We were told we had to transfer our pet to UF an hour before we had to pick him up, meanwhile we were under the impression he would not have to be transferred at all and would be getting the Echo promptly after the Fourth of July at BluePearl. Zero communication about his condition, when he would get an Echo, if he had to be transferred, the expected costs. We spent $2300 to figure nothing out. Within two hours of taking him to UF he was with proper specialists, received an Echo, we’re being told our baby can live with treatment for maybe years, and were given all of the estimated costs up front. We’ve spent less at UF to actually diagnose and provide treatment for my cat. If I listened to BluePearl’s initial suggestions, my cat would have been put down. I would only go to this hospital with extremely minor health concerns (like stitches), they do not have proper specialists and they are not transparent with anything. Communication seems to be failing within this hospital and between the Vet and customers. Save your pet and save your money, go to UF.

EDIT: The response from this hospital insinuated I chose to seek treatment elsewhere, that was not the case. I received a phone call and was told to come pick my cat up within an hour to transport him to UF without any consent or prior discussion of this because they closed the following day and my cat was critically ill. I should have been told the previous day that they are not a typical emergency vet, and they close for two days of the week essentially. If I knew any of this or the fact I would have had to transfer him in the first place, which the vets were well aware of given his condition, I would have immediately left BluePearl and went to UF. It’s been over a week since this whole ordeal and I can now 100% confirm that UF was a much cheaper and responsible option. I spent LESS money to not only properly diagnose but treat my cat with heart failure. BluePearl literally did not diagnose my cat with anything because their specialists take days to arrive, couldn’t run tests on the Fourth of July (like UF obviously could), and essentially just ran oxygen through my cat for 24 hours. And then before I was abruptly called to transfer my cat, I was told to spend $500 to remove fluid from my cats lungs to even make him stable enough for my husband and I to transport. It’s almost like we should have been advised from the moment we got there that my cat was too ill to wait 5 days (like BluePearl intended) to run the proper tests and consider treatment. And while pets can’t talk (which is a ridiculous justification to make as a Vet), the staff here can, and I have never in my life experienced worse communication in such a important event.

First visit today and we were very impressed by the kindness and care from all the staff here. Our senior dog had a fall earlier this week and became unable to walk this weekend. The vet here was very thorough and helpful in x-raying him and treating his acute pain. Thank you so much for helping our baby boy, ScooterDoo! So nice to know we can rely on this place on the weekends when emergency visits are needed.

Predatory, takes advantage of traumatized pet owners in an emergency. I do not feel they had the beloved pets best interest at heart, just wanted every Penny they had plus some. After my daughter paid $4000 they demanded more, delayed treatment, and when they pet passed less than 12 hours later, they charged another $495 for CPR. If you’re super rich and can throw money at them the second you walk through the door, then maybe this is the place for you. But in my honest opinion this vet loves money not animals. The moral and merciful choice would have been to be honest about the injuries, but my daughter was distraught after witnessing her pet dog run over by a car. Blue Pearl made $$$ off a traumatized family. Shame on them.

We had an emergency last Thursday evening and the female vet and team was very compassionate, honest and fair with the prices. We ended up having to put our dog Zeus down. Dr Jody? Gave us all our options and the prognosis for all options. The team also gave us plenty of time to spend with our dog before we deceided what we wanted to do. I highly recommend the Gainesville location I have never been to the Tampa location but I understand they have specialists for every department.

I came in due to my puppy not being able to stand, weird breathing noises, etc.after being in the doggy park. Shay saw us and knew exactly what it was. My puppy had gotten into some marijuana at the dog park. She took care of our baby so well and I am so thankful! Best first experience as a dog mom! Thank you Shay, you are truly amazing!

We brought our dog Brooke in to BluePearl the evening of Friday, March 31, after she had a freak zoomies accident and ended up with a gruesome degloving injury.

We were kind of a mess, not having experience with seeing this kind of wound, much less on our baby. The receptionists and techs at BluePearl were all so attentive, calm, and compassionate. It really helped to keep us emotionally grounded, feeling like we were leaving her in good hands.

Dr. Jones stitched and stapled Brookie up under anesthesia. Before the surgery, she cautioned us that the kind of wound Brooke sustained didn’t always heal properly, due to issues with blood supply to the skin, so we might be looking at a skin graft or other treatments further down the line.

Post-surgery, we kept up with the medications and aftercare dutifully. We took Brookie in to her regular vet a few days later, to have the drain removed and make sure she was healing well, and again a week later to see if the staples were ready to come out.

Today, not even 2 weeks after the injury, our vet determined that the wound had healed enough to remove the staples, and no further treatment should be necessary (aside from another week of the cone / restricted movement to make sure it’s healed good and proper). We were thrilled by this news, having been mentally prepared that our girl might not be out of the woods.

I strongly believe that the care Brooke got at BluePearl — being quickly seen and skillfully put back together — saved her from a long and expensive medical journey. The fact that she’ll be back to a normal life some 3 weeks out from such a horrible injury seems almost miraculous. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for taking care of us!

BluePearl left an incredible impression on me during a very difficult time. I took my cat Luna to them at about 11PM one evening and they immediately took her back. Within 5 minutes they informed me of what was wrong. We had to make a difficult decision that evening, but the BluePearl staff were extremely kind and comforting. I didn't feel rushed at all. When leaving to return home without Luna the Receptionist was very polite and appeared sincere in her apology for our loss. I absolutely recommend BluePearl, and if ever needed then I will absolutely return to BluePearl.

If you have a pet emergency, bring them here!

Almost two weeks ago my little furbaby ate a large amount of gum which had xylitol is it (super toxic to dogs, unbeknown to us). They gave us the number to animal poison control which has a $75 fee. The hospital typically has to call them anyway with any ingestion situation and they add the fee to the bill regardless, so they recommended we call them first to see if we needed to bring our baby in or if we could mitigate the situation at home. I thought this was honorable of them, any other hospital might've suggested we bring her in just to make a buck but not them.

Poison control suggested we take her in because of the amount she ingested. We were so scared we were going to lose her. When we arrived around 12: 30am, they immediately sprung into action. After assessing the situation they approached us with a treatment plan and payment estimate. We were devastated because it was more than we could afford. They asked us how much we could, and came up with a plan within our budget. We were so grateful. Our baby stayed for 24hrs with continuous monitoring, blood tests and medication. We called a few times to check on her and each time they were happy to give us a thorough update. We felt she was well cared for.

When we finally picked her up they gave us her meds and a detailed home treatment plan. They bathed her and combed her for us which we thought was so kind of them. They even returned some money to us because they over estimate a bit in case certain treatments are needed but in our case some wasn't. They truly stand by what they say; they're not in it to take money unnecessarily. Whatever they don't use, they give back.

Lastly, I have to praise the tech, Shay. She was so sympathetic and really went above and beyond to help us through the situation. She truly cares about every animal she interacts with, she pours her heart into every baby in need. We are so thankful for her, she's such a blessing! ️

We hope to never need their services again but if we do we won't think twice about going here. Plus, we will tell everyone we know about this place so if they ever find themselves in an unfortunate situation with their pet, they will know where to go.

Thank you all for saving our baby girl, we are forever grateful!

My family's cat was anemic and after being denied a second blood transfusion by UF, BluePearl took us in with open arms. Our normal vet had called around to find a place that would give our cat the blood transfusion he desperately needed and BluePearl stepped up. What was most comforting was that everyone was kind and genuinely listened to us about what was going on with our cat. After a week and a half, our cat is starting to go back to his normal self, none of this would have been possible without BluePearl. We are glad they saw our precious baby as more than just another animal coming through the door. We now know that if we have any future emergency that this is the place to go.

I can't say enough about how amazing the staff is at BluePearl. We came in after our dog (who normally has a seizure once every 1-3 months) suddenly had a series of seizures in a row. It was a weekend and after 7pm. We were obviously panicked but from the moment I called in to the moment we left BluePearl we felt well attended to and that our dog received the best possible care. We were seen promptly and the vet spent a good amount of time talking to us about our dog and his condition as well as treatment options. Considering this was late on a Saturday night, our dog had bloodwork done, and they sent us home with meds for him, I'm honestly impressed that the bill wasn't for significantly more. It's clear the priority here is treating your pet. I would 100% recommend BluePearl

Had a great experience with them start to finish. They really care about your pet but they're also very understanding non judgemental. Both vets were very kind and explained every step in the process and called with updates as far as my pets condition.
