I could not give a higher recommendation to Captain Jack. His expertise is without question but even better are his teaching skills and his clear passion for the water, boater safety, education and the environment. Five stars.

If you own a boat or rent on occasion and admit to yourself that you are not 100% comfortable and relaxed on the water, this is the course for you. I have had miserable experiences on the water with bad weather, currents, and waves, trying to understand the channel markers, docking to a restaurant or marina, and anchoring correctly. Most my anchors just moved with the boat. I'll admit that. After taking this course, those issues are over. You can choose to have an additional practical course on the water with captain Jack with your vessel or a rental boat. He's a good lecturer and instructor. Don't feel embarrassed to go. You're treated as a student, no judgements

Not only is Captain Jack an expert on the material, he is also a masterful instructor. Taking the class gave me confidence about getting on the water, tools to use in real life situations, and tips I would never have picked up on my own. I highly recommend the Nautical Knowledge course to anyone who plans to step foot on a boat.

I recently attended Nautical Knowledge 101, and found it be extremely informative in an easy-to-understand format. Captain Jack is an expert in his field, and an excellent instructor as well.

My wife and I are new to boating, but enthusiastic about being on the water and living the dream. We both had little knowledge before the classes, and simply took how to operate a boat for granted……. Big mistake.

We quickly realized the importance to educate ourselves shortly after purchasing our first boat. The classes gave us a vote of confidence, and affords us a more relaxing and enjoyable boating experience.

Captain Jack is a professional and down to earth at the same time. He is a natural at teaching and has so much knowledge to share. The class size was perfect. We have been boating for over 40 years, though not in Florida waters, and we still gained so much useful information. Safety and personal responsibility is tops on Captain Jacks list. Captain Jack, If I could give you 100 stars I would. No words can express the gratitude I have for you. I came to you after 2 times of not passing the Chart plotting portion of my 100 Ton License Test. I just did not have a good understanding of the material. The next attempt would be the last before having to retake the class. Needless to say I was not very confident in myself. You were so easy to work with and your style of teaching is nothing less than special. You taught the information to me in a way that made me actually know it. When I finished the 2 days I was confident in myself and my knowledge of the information. I finally had the skills to retake the test knowing I had a chance to pass. Well not only did I pass but I scored a 100%. I will most definitely recommend you to anyone wanting to learn anything in the boating world.

This class was so interesting and well organized the time flew by. I learned how much I don’t know but must learn. I now realize that one does not simply jump in a boat and go. Ocean waters are quite complicated places and there is so much one must be aware of if they want to be safe, keep others safe and enjoy the boating experience. We were familiarized with many resources available to help with all this. Captain frequently showed us what can happen when we use poor judgement and make bad decisions. That was a good wake up call to see what could be life or death choices that we must make while boating. Thank you Captain Jack for a great course. Now we are ready to go and have some fun and just maybe, catch a couple of fish along the way.

My wife, grandson and I took the boaters 101 class this weekend. Captain Jack is a wealth of knowledge and an excellent instructor. Our class consisted of new and experienced boaters reviewing the material and was very beneficial. My wife and I found Captain Jack through a computer search. My son was having a very hard time passing the chart plotting portion of his 100 Ton Captains Certification. He had 1 more chance to take the test before having to repeat the class. From the moment we spoke to Captain Jack, I knew my son would be successful. We hired him for private tutoring and it was all uphill from there. My son really enjoyed his teaching techniques and the entire 2 days of class. The one on one experience made all the difference. He knew the best way and time to schedule the review. I am proud to say that today my son retook the test and passed. My son had a much better knowledge of the material. He also had a better understanding of test taking. Captain Jack was responsive to all correspondence including text, phone and emails. I would highly recommend Captain Jack to anyone for anything they need to learn in the boating world. His resume is top notch.

Capt. Jack teaches so much in just two days of the Basic Boating class. The class is well worth the time and money for anyone who has never taken boating instruction. If you are a novice boat owner or considering a boat purchase, I heartily recommend this class. I am insisting other family members take the class!

Captain Jack is not only an extremely knowledgeable Captain, but he is a great teacher. He is an open book with sharing his lifetime learnings and is not ashamed of admitting past mistakes that he has used as learning experiences. I am a better boater because of this class!

Captain Jack delivered a fun, informative and educational 16 hour-Class 101. Everyone on the water should have to be required to take this class. Knowledge is not an inconvenience, ever, especially when the information and education, at the least, will make your day more enjoyable as you will have increased your boating knowledge and skills, enhancing your enjoyment on the water as you will be more engaged in the trip and the trips course. At most, this course will provide you with new gained knowledge and skills that might have to be used to save yours, your guests or other boaters lives.

A terrific experience-first class instruction. My husband and I took Boat Tutors' boating safety class and then arranged for one-on-one instruction as we got to know our new boat. Captain Jack is exactly what you want in an instructor-knowledgeable, warm, and clear. The content of the course was perfect for new boaters and those looking for a refresher or to acquaint themselves with the nuances of boating in southwest Florida. Captain Jack tailored our individual lessons to our skill level and interests, ensuring we were ready to handle a few tricky situations when they arise. He makes you feel comfortable immediately and is patient and calm as he coaches. We finished feeling more confident and relaxed on the water. An excellent investment of time and money.

Don’t hesitate to take this class! It doesn’t matter what level of boating experience you have, you will leave with a ton more knowledge about Florida boating than you walked in with. Captain jack is a rockstar both in his teaching capabilities and his experience and knowledge! One of the best listeners with an ability to adapt to different knowledge levels that I’ve ever experienced. The hands on techniques really assist in getting the info to sink in.
