Boats and Fun, Captiva FL

I was charged for a full week’s rental and only used the golf cart 4 days. The island has flooded roads and the company knows this and rents golf carts which can be disabled if water gets into the electric system. This happened to us and the company would not provide a replacement or refund.

Friendly staff. Awesome selection of shirts, stuffed animals. You can find everything you may need.

Have rented a few carts for the day on North Captiva. The process with smooth and the carts are in good shape and worked perfectly. It is a bit expensive, but then again, you are on an island that is only accessible by boat. Will rent again.

We have booked inshore fishing with Capt. Dalton 2 years in a row and looking forward to a third. Definitely the highlight of our spring break trips. We always catch enough fish for dinner and have so much fun. He even makes our cranky teenagers smile!

They require multi day rentals to be back at the dock by 5 pm everyday versus before sundown. They didn’t disclose this at the time of the rental nor in the confirmation email nor do they have it anywhere on their website. They dropped this nugget on me within 24 hours of arrival. Of course being within 24 hours means a 100% charge of the rental to my credit card if I cancelled.

In the summer, mandating a 5pm limit to having the boat out is almost four hours of time in the day that is gone, including being able to run out for dinner or to a nearby island for an errand. Every multi-day rental I’ve ever had has had a policy of not having the boat out after sundown, which makes perfect sense. This policy is conservative at best and the fact that it wasn’t disclosed until the cancellation time had expired is a super shady business practice.

Do NOT recommend.

I called Boats and Fun from Tampa before we left for our trip to Cape Coral. I wanted to find out if they were able to accommodate my daughter who is 22 and uses a wheelchair. I wanted to visit Cabbage Key with both my daughters because I had been as a kid and had wonderful memories. Captain Mike and I spoke about the specifics of the trip and he just simply said "We'll find a way? " We met at the marina and were able to lift Sarah (who only weighs 95 lbs) into the boat and place her travel wheelchair secure in the back for the ride. He stopped along the way to show us dolphins and then we had a beautiful ride to Cabbage Key. It was so relaxing and fun. He truly cares about making sure his customers have a good time and he was especially helpful with accommodating someone with a disability. My daughters had such a great time. I would suggest a ramp for the boat if you have a larger adult but for a small person or child with a disability it was pretty easy to get her in the boat and then the restaurant has an accessible golf cart and the restaurant is accessible. If I could give a higher rating than 5 starts it would be 1000. It was one of the best days I've spent with my girls EVER! Thank you, Captain Mike. You are a treasure.

If you're going to North Captiva I would use these guys for your rental needs. Very professional and friendly. Was able to get some paddle boards from them with zero problems and had a great time. I've heard good things about renting golf carts and boats from them as well. They also have a cool shop to browse in as well.

Our trip to North Captiva was amazing because of the wonderful people at Boats and Fun! Captain Andrew took us to and from our rental. Rachel and Jake (I think- blond hair and often at the front desk) helped us out with kayaks, a golf cart, fishing rods and multiple fish orders. Captain Mike took our family in an unforgettable tour. We saw dphins and they played in the wake of the boat. Our children were thrilled! Thank you Boats and Fun for making our vacation amazing!

Captain Bill took us shelling, tubing, dolphin and manatee seeing, and was a great captain! We had a great time- he was great with little kids too!

We rented "The Shark" and took it over to Captivas Jensen Marina. We then went out to some fishing spots that Captain Ron provided. We also rented 3 poles from Boats and Fun and caught 1 blowfish (we threw back) 4 catfish and 1 blue runner. The GPS system was very easy to follow. The crew were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a BLAST and would do it again and recommend for anyone visiting North Captiva Island.

I have rented from others but the fleet they have here is by far the best and NEWEST! The boat was super fresh and well maintained! Loved it

It should be called Boats and No Fun because that is how we felt after our experience.
My family recently rented a boat from Boats and Fun on North Captiva. The first day was great. On the second day after exiting the marina, it was very clear to us that it was not a good day for boating due to winds. We made it to a nearby marina to fill the boat with gas and was told they were discouraging their boat renters from going out that day. We decided that there would be no way that we could have any fun at all with the high winds and choppy waters and seven people on the boat and decided to return to the Boats and Fun Marina around 11: 30 am.
Boats and Fun did not care even though the conditions were such that the ride would have been no fun and everyone on the boat would have been bounced around. We proposed a credit toward another half day rental and they said no. They ended up only giving us a $69 credit, the difference between a half and full day rental (we essentially paid half day price - for about an hour and a half on the water that day).
We cannot understand why they would insist on making people feel the need to take their boats out in uncomfortable and possibly unsafe conditions. Customer service is severely lacking and customer satisfaction, is apparently, not a concern of theirs.

My family has used Boats and Fun on North Captiva Island a few times over the last 10 years and have always had a professional well run experience. When you are on a private island like North Cap it is good to have a reliable source for your vacation extras that is consistent with what they provide and how they provide it.

My family of 5 used the private taxi service provided by boats and fun for our stay on upper cap. They were very accommodating with helping us load and unload our belongings. Enjoyed talking with the captains about local lore and favorite fishing spots.

We love dealing with companies that do all they can to accommodate your needs and this company does just that! We rented a Golf cart while on Upper Captiva (A MUST on the island) and were greeted by wonderful associates that checked us in quickly and got us on our cart and out the door! During our visit, our cart got a flat tire (there is some construction going on on the island) and they fixed it with a new tire immediately with out a wait, and we were once again on our way. I highly recommend them for renting golf carts, kayaks and other fun island adventures!

Boats and Fun was so great to work with. They are friendly, helpful, thorough, and always there when you have questions. I have rented multiple golf carts from them and a boat. They are the best!

Our Captain was so personable and worked hard to show us the beautiful area of the intercoastal water ways! We were able to see dolphins and visit the island of Cabbage Key for lunch! Will definitely be using them again!
