So it’s official I’ve come such a long way in a short period of time and if it wasn’t for all the staff at brooks rehabilitation center making my time there at ease through one of the hard times of my life and God helping me daily understand the love and care people truly have for others on a daily basis I don’t know how I would have gotten through these moments. So I want to say a special thanks to the Nurses for putting up with my craziness, CNA’s for wiping my dirty butt and baithing me lol, the physical therapist and occupational therapist for pushing me day to day even though we all know I have you a run for your money…. Hahah if only I could run you wouldn’t have any hahaha. The Doctors for understanding my past my now and my future and Charge nurses for keeping your team in line for when I would get them out of line lol. The roomies for showing me the possibilities of my future. Truly everyone will be missed and I love you all

All the therapists were terrific in helping me gain the strength and mobility to get better. They are very encouraging and help you perform activities you didn't think you could do.

That’s me on the left. The lady to my right, Tammy Turner RN, went above and beyond to make my experience at Brooks the best it could be.

The Hospital is one of the best in the world. World class service and staff. The Security company they have contracted is strange though. Loud, sloppy looking and staring at patients.

My 9-year-old nephew had a stroke and was discharged to your Brooks Rehab Hospital at University Campus. At first DJ the PT specialist came in and we weren't too sure about him. The next day Luke had therapy again with DJ and Luke had a breakdown. DJ held Luke and they slid to the floor together. He explained to Luke it is ok to have these moments but must get back up and fight. DJ stole Luke's heart as well as the rest of the family. The other Therapy specialists were as equally receptive to Luke and were excellent. I cannot tell you enough how thankful we are to have such wonderful therapist in Luke's life as well as his family. But it doesn't just stop there. The nursing, aides, and janitorial staff were just as great. The 4th floor will forever be in our hearts and prayers. This group of caring, loving, and talented specialists are a diamond in the ruff. They deserve metals of honor, integrity, and heart. Thank you to those who inspired, gave high fives, encouraged and continue to support Luke on his journey to recovery. You all are an example of what care is all about. Thank you again for your time in Luke's life.

My son came in with spine injury as well as a severe brain injury, when he first got there he was placed inside of a net bed (a human size play pen) because per them he tries to get out of bed without help. That wasn't the problem, the problem is they put my son on punishment by putting him back in the net bed because he refused to get back in bed from being more comfortable on the couch after they put a regular bed in his room. Also my son with a brain injury was left alone on a toilet for over 30 minutes when i asked them about this they only apologized and said that they were going to address the issue but i never heard anything else about it.but they're concerned about him getting out of bed alone.brooks started my son on a soft diet even though he was discharged on a regular diet from the hospital. Also they asked me questions about what was done at the hospital instead of looking it up, I have to be honest there was one good thing that came out of the whole experience and that was the CNA Asia my son complimented everything she did for him she was a joy every time she came to the room. Asia thank you so much for everything. That one star is for you, your are truly the best, thank you

If I could leave a 0/5 rating I would.

Roughly 5 years ago, after a successful 17 hour surgery at Mayo clinic to correct an extensive subarrachnoid haemorrhage (brain bleed), my family member was sent to Brooks Rehab on University to 'rehabilitate'. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Do to understaffing issues she was left to sit in her faeces, was continually over medicated with pain meds and eventually had an unwitnessed fall hitting her head which sent her recovery backwards; whilst they continued to milk her insurance. It wasn't until another family member (a former nurse) demanded to speak to the administration that things began to improve.some.

After FORTUNATELY catching pneumonia and having to be readmitted to Mayo for treatment and an additional procedure, the family was able to ask for her to be admitted to a different rehabilitation facility once discharged. Upon discussions with her surgeon about the inhumane treatment that she received at Brooks, she was told that Mayo clinic is sadly 'in bed with Brooks rehab' and that's why she was sent there.   Upon further discussions with multiple lawyers, she was told a sucessful lawsuit with a local lawyer would be nearly impossible due to Brooks power within the city of Jacksonville. If you don't love your family send them to Brooks.

Transferred here from UF Health Gainesville after a TBI. The only reason for any stars is for the nurses and therapy staff, they were amazing. When asking the doctors for explanation on my condition, medication, therapy, ect.they would walk out of the room quicker than the questions were asked. The only reason for me concluding my stay would be for my mother staying and sleeping in the room for the rest of my visit after my several request to leave or be transferred. For anyone looking for real help I don't recommend unless your only other option is a mental institution. I argued to leave or be transferred but denied after a 2 hour standoff in the elevator, then released 2 days later with completion.

A rep came into my moms hospital room with a glossy, new brochure. It showed us all the technology advanced that could help my mom learn to walk again. That is what stood out to me about Brooks. That and it’s then 5 star rating. 20 days, thats exactly how long they gave my mom to recover. She had 20 days to relearn to walk, eat, and learn her ADLs along with working towards the removal of her trach. 20 days and we were discharged. Brooks failed my mom. She never even got the chance to use any of the equipment in the brochure which would have helped her learn to walk again, her trach was supposed to be removed but following discharge and being sent home it flew out of her when I transferred her from her wheelchair to her bed which she is now bedridden in due to the fact that when she was released from Brooks they did not set up the proper PT, OT, etc provided for a successful transition home and they discharged after a severe stroke that resulted her being in ICU on a ventilator and needing to relearn 100 percent of everything in 20 days. 20 days. And when I called the insurance company they stated she was insured to stay in rehab for 60 days. The difference 40 days could have made.

Our experience was very good. Sadly we ended up there as no one wants to be at a hospital. The employees seem to really love their jobs which made the stay very pleasant. I would highly recommend them. Only down fall was the case worker who wasn’t very knowledgeable about her job. You had to do research behind her. When you had questions her to go answer was I don’t know. If I was Brooks I would definitely define her job.

I had an awful accident leaving me in such physically and emotional pain and unable to walk without some form of help. I was truly so ready to give up before my transfer to BROOKS! They made me happy and realize I COULD get better and learn to live again just fine! THE THERAPISTs are just SO great and wise and caring! I still need HELP but I'm walking so much better now! I'm smiling and laughing and just happy to be alive.again! My pain is still quite rough FOR NOW, But it WAS a whole lot worse before rhe hard work and love from the amazing health-care at BROOKS. I COULDN'T GO OR SUGGEST OR RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE! THE MOST caring Doctors, Nurses and therapists I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with and being cared by! Still a lot of work until a successful full race can be bragged about. Still looking and feeling rough but actually DOING SO much better!
