Brutus Seafood reviews
15We arrived and were seated. The waitress was very nice. We were promptly greeted and brought our drinks. We ordered the fried seafood platter and fried lobster po boy. The po boy was good and fried to a light golden brown. Here is where the food goes down. The seafood on the platter was obviously burnt and you could see that it was. We never ever complain or ask for anything to be recooked. However our waitress told us that this is how the cook always prepares fried seafood platters. So this is basically telling us you will like it or lump it.so we did. I do not have the pic right now but I will post soon. We did leave a decent tip. For some reason all the waitress staff in the keys appeared to be in fear of reporting mistakes.
Had a very tasty Yellowfin sandwich. The fries were a bit small in size but they were good.
Low key beach dive with a hidden gem tiki style outdoor bar. Seafood is remarkable with a variety of fresh local catches.
The food has been better. The fish was dry and the shrimps were too small to be Florida Pinks or they were rejects. It will be quite sometime before we come back.
They may be short staffed during holidays, order took 1.5 hours. It would have been nice if they could give us a warning.
Food is good.
This is one of my favorite places to visit while in marathon! I have never had a bad dish! Would highly recommend stopping here!
Not a "must visit place". They put lettuce on a pressed Cuban.not much worse flavors that hot lettuce. Spicy fries were a let down, bartender was anything but engaged. Left 3/4s of our meal.
I was here several years ago for the 1st time and got the best fish sandwich I've ever had and gave a 5 star review. Haven't had a fish sandwich that good since. Went a second time about a year ago and got the fish sandwich and it was not as good. Still good but just average. 2 days ago went again for the fish sandwich hoping for a fantastic sandwich like the 1st time and was again disappointed. Service is terrific. Great atmosphere. Average food. Bread to fish ratio is out of whack. What happened to this place?
Good tasting meals however the only two of us who ate the same dish became sick shortly after leaving the restaurant. The other couples who did not eat our dish all enjoyed their meals. Waitresses were very pleasant. Atmosphere was better than the other 3 restaurants we are at during our week stay in Marathon.
We bought fresh fish here to grill and it was excellent. The person who helped us was very knowledgeable about what they had available and pointed us towards a new fish that was a huge hit. We will be back!
We were out on a drive and were looking for a seafood market. Pulled in and saw they also served food. Sat outside and had the crab chowder for a starter. It was delisious and full of crab. Wife had crab cakes with asparagus and coleslaw and I had a Mahi Rachel sandwich that was loaded with fish. All was extremely tasty, big portions, and the service was great. After lunch, went to fish market, purchased some Key West shrimp, Sushi grade tuna and yellow tail filets.
Whether you are looking to dine or take home fresh fish, this place is the bomb.
What a great place for some local flavor and atmosphere. Chickens roaming around your table. Great service, reasonable prices and very fresh seafood. Try the Mahi Rachel, most excellent.
Made reservation for 6pm. Arrived just before and we were seated immediately. There was one other table table occupied by another couple. We sat for the first 10 minutes laughing at at the rooster and chickens walking around in the restaurant area. A young man approached and dropped off four glasses of water. Never asked for a drink order, but then sprinted away. We continued to sit and wait for another 15 minutes. The bar was getting busier and we were now the only occupied table in the restaurant. After nearly 30 minutes of waiting we decided enough is enough. I informed the “hostess” that we were leaving. To my dismay she smiled but no response. This was Wednesday, October 19th at 6: 30 pm.
We had the Brutus and Mahi Rachel, both of which were moist and flavorful. Great atmosphere and even had live music.
