Budget Truck Rental, Daytona Beach FL

I rented a truck from this location to move from Florida to Arizona, a distance of 2,200 miles. The truck they assigned me should never have been rented out for such a long road trip. It had 146,000 miles on it and was pretty banged up and had a number of problems.

The check engine light was on when we left the pick up location and it started flashing on us while we were passing through Jacksonville. Every time we pressed on the gas pedal it would hesitate to accelerate. We called the roadside assistance company that budget uses and they required us to stop to have it inspected by a mechanic. The mechanic determined that one of the cylinders was misfiring. It took 2 hours to address the problem.

The steering wheel shook/vibrated pretty violently for about the first half of the 30 hour drive. It was extremely uncomfortable to drive the truck like that. I took a closer look at the front tires and noticed the driver’s side tire was almost completely out of tread and not worn uniformly while the other tire looked fairly new. I finally got fed up with it once we arrived in Houston and called the roadside assistance service again to have the tire replaced. This took about 4 hours to complete. The truck drove great after that tire was replaced.

The driver’s side door was not completely flush with the frame of the truck when the door was closed so this allowed water to poor in onto me while we passed through a downpour. Also, the windshield wipers were clearly overdue for replacement as they did a horrible job of clearing the windshield.

We went through an area of colder temperatures causing the windshield to start fogging up. We turned on the window defroster and discovered the heater didn’t work.

When I dropped the truck off in Arizona the agent made a comment that this truck should never have been rented out in its condition, even before I told him all the problems we encountered. This business did a poor job of making sure they rented me a safe and reliable truck to take on a cross country move. Budget only gave me a 35% refund for the inconvenience.

Owner went out of his way to go pick up a truck so he could honor our reservation! He was kind, courteous, honest and helpful. Giving good energy got us good energy back. Would recommend, 10 out of 10, IF YOU ARE A DECENT HUMAN BEING.

Guy was nice but he charged me over $300 for a service not in my quote and never requested. Then to try and fix the situation I have been jerked around via email and over the phone by budget for almost 2 weeks. On top of that, customer service claims they can't get in contact with this location because no one will answer the phone. Don't trust them. They will rob you.

Budget was a complete miss for me, it ended up being a nightmare. It started with calling me two hours before our across the country move that they don’t have an auto carrier for the truck, that we had to travel to ocala to go pick it up. They said that the customer didn’t bring it back and okay that’s fine but they should have made moves quickly to accommodate us and should have transferred it for us and not have us go 3 hours out of our way. The only reason i’m giving this two stars is because Victor was trying and was a one man show.

We rented 2 trucks from this location. One local and a one way to Charleston. Victor provided us with outstanding service both times. Trucks were ready for us when we arrived & pick up was efficient. The local truck rental we dropped off after hours with no issues. Same with Charleston. We will be renting again next month and will only use this location.

STAY AWAY FROM RENTING ANYTHING FROM THIS LOCATION! THE MAN THAT RUNS THIS SO CALLED BUSINESS WILL BASICALLY FORCE YOU TO PURCHASE A $40 INSURANCE ON TOP OF THE RENTAL CHARGES. HE CLAIMS THAT HIS TRUCKS ARE NOT INSURED WHICH IS A LIE! IF YOU NEED A DOLLY FOR APPLIANCES DON’T WASTE YOUR $17 ON RENTING THEIRS BECAUSE IT WILL BE NO USE TO YOU. I JUST REALIZED THAT THEY HAVE A 2.9 STAR RATING I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS PRIOR TO AGREE TO DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN. IF YOU EVER TRY TO CALL THIS LOCATION YOU CAN NEVER CONTACT THIS BUSINESS LOCATION IT WILL ROUTE YOU TO THE 1-800 NUMBER OF BUDGET AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE JOSELYN IS A SPPEDY GONZALEZ TRYING TO SPECK OVER YOU AND WHEN ASK TO SPECK TO A SUPERVISOR MICHEAL IS NO HELP AT ALL.
