Overall, was not satisfied with the job done. To start, at our consultation, the office did not calculate the proper FEMA budget. They estimated both the land and property, when it’s just supposed to be property. Therefore, we gave a deposit that was WAY over the actual 10% retainer. We had a total of two designers, one of which left halfway through the design process due to a toxic work environment. After we picked everything out, there was little to no communication with our designer or project manager as to the status of our project. While the picking of finishes and colors was a lot of fun, there was a lack of transparency. We were not told the bathroom tile would be laid in the MOST expensive way (Around $70/square foot, nothing we would have chosen considering the scale of our renovation). Considering the fact they didn’t appropriately address our plumbing issue and now we have to get that bathroom redone, we’re pretty miffed. The invoices were vague and semi-sporadic. There was no “set” payment schedule. On top of that, instead of telling us an item wasn’t doable up front, they waited until they were done to let us know we weren’t getting what we asked for. Our one project manager even admitted he didn’t know what he could do regarding that item. Additionally, there was a lack of actually considering functionality. They put our fridge right up against a wall and we cannot open the left door all the way. We also went through THREE project managers during the course of our 6 month project. I’m not sure what’s going on at the managerial level, but it doesn’t appear good. Lastly, they told us they would have the place clean and ready for us before the holidays. The painters lacked attention to detail and our shower was not caulked correctly. Our place was left in a non livable state. Their “cleaners” did not do a good job. Our place was covered in dust and debris and we had to bring our own person in, who it took 3 good rounds of cleaning to get it done. Our last project manager did his best to remedy the issues that were left for him, but it certainly didn’t leave us with much faith in the company.

When my husband and I first visited Cabex the designer we worked with was absolutely wonderful. He took our thoughts and ideas and guided us through a process that could have been overwhelming. Due to his expertise the process was surprisingly easy. Once work actually began we were continually impressed with our Project Manager, Kyle. He made sure our home was protected from dust and dirt by providing an impressive tent-like structure. The work progressed steadily and every single team member was so very polite and showed true craftsmanship in everything they did. Kyle perfectly orchestrated everyone else’s work and also had a lot hands on involvement. Kyle demanded perfection of himself and everyone else. As a result, we have an “Extraordinary “ new master bathroom and closet. Thank you to everyone on the Cabex team and especially to their leader, Joe and our Project Manager, Kyle.
