Caribbean Paradise reviews
15Will not be returning, while there, everyones order was wrong, I was uncharged for their mistake and my order was still wrong. They don’t specify if food is available before paying. No way to get a refund. They gave me a beef meal because they was out of veggies instead of checking to see. Veggie patty was hard as a rock. Just a hot mess in general
We have been looking for an authentic Caribbean restaurant. Oxtail, Rice & Peas, Curry Shrimp, Cabbage, Yellow Rice and Macaroni was superb and seasoned proper!
It was a "no" for me. Re: Curry Shrimp w/ White Rice. This is not my first time ordering this, so I was disappointed. They were tough and rubbery. The shrimp were jumbo shrimp (5) which I don't remember them being that size before. Also, the shrimp had absolutely NO TASTE, whatsoever. The only thing with curry seasoning, was the rice and cabbage. The "shrimp" is the main part of the dish, so essentially, that threw the whole meal off. I took it back obviously.and according to the worker the shrimp are pre-cooked shrimp. Please don't sacrifice the authenticity or preparation of your food because customers are paying hard earned money. Also, you can clearly tell, if you've been given leftovers (rice/cabbage). However, the customer service was good.
First time here. And well worth it! I had to stop inhaling my food to write this review before nothing was left. The food is burn ya tongue and the roof of your mouth GOOD! I’m a big boy that normally buys a large for myself but I got a small and still had food to share with my lady that wasn’t with me
1st time there and I had the oxtail & the curry chicken just before closing. The oxtail was fine, but the curry chicken was spoiled and tasted rancid. I called the next day and was offered a replacement. Not a good 1st impression. Don’t believe I was the only one either from what I witnessed. Overall the replacement was good as well as the oxtails, but getting spoiled food that could make someone sick is a dealbreaker.
We ordered the curry shrimp plate with cabbage and rice. Also, the jerk chicken with double cabbage with rice. It was so good. We only had one Jamaica restaurant go to, but now we have another. The chicken was so juicy, and the cabbage had so much flavor. I couldn't stop eating it, lol. We ordered the cornbread, which was very different (especially for a southerner). It was a little too sweet for my liking. The flavor had a bit of cinnamon in it.
Bought the oxtail and it’s trash. Taste like they use pepper and salt that’s it. They need new cooks here!
One of the best Jamaican restaurants, I literally DoorDash lunch from here every other day and they never disappoint.
Very disappointed with my order of Curry Chicken. They used Kidney beans for the peas & rice The plantains were pure trash, the cabbage was over cooked. Bottle of Ginger Beer $4.50 This was my first visit and is my last.
Based on my last visit I would've rated higher. The food was cooked and flavored to perfection. And the portion size was equivalent to price. The lady that took the order was very nice and conducted herself well. I'm impressed because most usually have bad attitudes. For no reason. However I paid $4 or $5 for a slice of cake. None of them are equal in size. All the ones in the front are nice sizes. But when I got home it look like she gave me the smallest slice of cake that wasn't in the display. The cake good though. It was more of a $2 slice.
The reason for my lower rating is based on past experiences. I've came here twice before and the food smelled so good outside but tasted so bland. And they wasn't so friendly. Seems like they get mad you giving them your business. Consistency is key.
UPDATE:
Dropping from 3 Star to 1 Star
Poor Cashier Service. Beans and Rice was sour. The only thing that were any good was the Jerk Chicken, but some part of it was very salty. A waste of $20+ I won't be returning. This is my final review for this place.
Out of all the caribbean restaurants in Jax, they serve the best ox tails. Better flavor and pice point per serving size
For some reason, every time I order, I always end up with the wrong order. The third time came to this restaurant and had to return because something was wrong or missing. Service is disorganized.
The stew chicken, cabbage, and rice & peas are my favorite! And the staff working there is just so sweet and welcoming.
Always kind, never shorted on food or service from 10 minutes before the open sign and even after the close sign is up. The newer lady at the register is so sweet and makes sure to greet anyone that walks through the door! The food never disappoints! I will continue to visit for as long as I can
Spent almost $50 just for my Fried Dumplings to be gritty, soggy, and tasted like they were fresh out the freezer & my Curry Chicken had cold spots throughout my food. I did call in to order order was told to wait 30 mins and when i went to pick it up they had to retake my order and had the food ready in 10 mins. Wouldn't try again.
