This “doctors office” is a factory and entire front desk staff is slow and incompetent. There were a lot of red flags from the moment I arrived but the biggest one was that they actually pulled a bait and switch on me. I had been calling ophthalmologists all over my area trying to make an appointment as soon as possible. I called this place and specifically asked to see the OPHTHALMOLOGIST. I had just seen my optometrist 2 days prior. I was told I would be seeing the corneal surgeon and they had an appointment next day in the afternoon. I called off work, drove an hour and a half, and even wrecked my car to come to this appointment and I was seen by the wrong doctor! I waited 30 min for the technician to do the refractive eye exam with me and dilate my eyes. She asked me why I was here. I told her how I needed to see the ophthalmologist. And she never spoke up and said Dr Chih is not. If she would have been honest, I would have gotten up walked out and asked for my money back. She just said how I’m in very good hands and she’s a wonderful doctor and she does all of her eye exams, etc. I found out that I didn’t see the ophthalmologist when I got home and started researching this place and read about the doctors. I immediately broke down crying. I’m absolutely livid. I called my parents who are both MDs, and they think this is absolutely unacceptable. I will never come back here again, I wasted my time and money at this place and you better believe I would leave a negative review. And another thing I want to add is after the technician dilated my eyes she told me to wait in the lobby which was bright and I couldn’t see. It was very uncomfortable. The whole experience was terrible and I spent more time waiting then I did with the Dr Chih. Wish I had more patience and never bothered with this place.

Although I haven't needed cataract surgery myself, I have assisted a friend in making appointments during and after the procedure with Dr. Barber.
However good a doctor Barber may be, it is the follow up visits that have proven how incompetent at least one associate is, namely Brian W. Jones. After surgery, my friend experience eye pain. It was determined to be a problem with severe dry eyes. A visit with Jones identified tear duct plugs were necessary. They didn't have the right size so a follow-up visit two weeks later was made. On that second visit, Jones advised my friend that he needed tear duct plugs! But they didn't have the right size! It was as if there hadn't been an initial diagnosis with Jones! Jones advised his assistance to order the right size and they would contact the patient when they arrive. Totally incompetent. At the very least, Jones and company got paid for a totally needless, useless visit. Not surprisingly, the patient has sought other professional care. In the meantime, the patient continues to have recurring, daily eye pain, thus unable to drive at all. My inconvenience is minor. The patient's situation is a major medical problem.
Jones is a recent addition to this practice. He needs to be released.

I had to find an eye doctor after our move to Florida
I found Central Florida Eye Specialist in Orange City and got in with some problems ive been having with my eyes. Everyone was so courteous and friendly from checking in to my exam before seeing Dr. Sluch. I felt very comfortable and felt they took my concerns and gave me the best possible care

I've been there twice now and each time treated very well without a long wait and also very clean and neat.

I showed up on time and after waiting outside for an hour asked when I'd be seen. Receptionist said she'd go check and after 10 more minutes and no show I walked out. THEY OBVIOUSLY TRIPLE BOOK AND PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO WAIT. One woman told me she had to wait 2 hours recently. Sad these doctors don't care enough to stop thinking about money and more about people and their needs.

I recently had laser cataract surgery on both eyes by Doctor Ilya Sluch and his team. He is a fantastic Doctor with a great bedside manner and though he is quite busy he makes sure he takes and answers all your questions. I was quite apprehensive as I am very touchy with anything near my eyes - he was great. I’ve worn glasses since I was 28 — I now have 20/20 in both eyes and can finally wear a decent pair of nice sunglasses

Dr. Mackinder has been so great, compassionate, and kind. As someone who has always had great eyesight, Dr. Mackinder has helped me to see even MORE clearly. Thank you!

I would do more research on the follow up from this organization. I had cataract surgery and was left with problems they will not take care of unless I pay them co-pay.
I was told before the surgery if there was any problems the Doctor would take care of them, I told the Doctor during my follow up I was having problems. She told me to come back in 30 days and they would check if I had a film building up on my eyes. When I went back they told me I had to pay 70 dollar co-pay for them to take care of my problems. They told me they would check with the Doctor and call me, I have not heard anything from them after two or three weeks.
I paid them cash for the procedures, my insurance would not cover the procedure I had done. It was supposed to be better than other procedures.

I would truly recommend Central Florida Eye Specialists and Dr. Barber and his staff of professional specialists to anyone with any eye concerns.

My two cataract surgeries were very positive, comfortable and actually pleasurable experiences. My outcome is exactly what I was hoping and praying for.

From my first visit to their beautiful, clean and comfortable Lake Mary office; where each person who tested me, talked to me, to seeing Dr. Barber was a positive, kind, helpful and reassuring.experience. You are provided with every bit of knowledge possible to make an informed decision. No pressure is ever exerted to rush your decision.

If your eye problem leads to the Surgical Center in Orange City, this same level of considerate care and professionalism is experienced. The same effort is made to see that you are informed, comfortable and treated as an individual. I have honestly never seen a better organized and quality medical organization.

If anyone I cared about needed an eye specialist I would encourage them with my whole heart and mind to make an appointment with Central Florida Eye Specialist ; and from my experience Dr. Barber and his team.

I had a severe case of blocked tear ducts for many years. On a friends recommendation, I contacted Dr. Scruggs. He detailed the procedure and fully explained the benefits and risks associated with this type of surgery. I am extremely pleased with the results. Kudos to his entire staff!

Today was my final visit after surgery. Dr. Scruggs did a great job! Dr. Sluch updated my prescription and now my eyesight is better than 20-10. I highly recommend CF Eye Specialists!

Have been a patient for about 35 years, about 30 with their predecessor, Dr. Kropp. Arrived at my regular scheduled appointment and was told they would not accept my Humana card but would accept $350 cash. I declined. They wouldn’t continue my prescription nor give me a sample so I could continue treating my glaucoma while scrambling to find another Doctor. Dr. Kropp was always compassionate and did what was the best for his patients. This bunch does not emulate Dr. Kropp.

I was very happy with the care I experienced here.
My laser eye surgery for cataracts went smoothly from start to finish. From the initial eye exam, meeting with Dr. Barber with any questions, all the way through the procedure itself and the follow up.
All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Central Florida Eye Specialists is a top tier professional healthcare practice. Their patient centered philosophy can be seen in every aspect you will encounter. Their Team is friendly, well trained in their responsibilities, and effiicient in moving patients from eximination to the treatment of your needs.

I highly recomend them. I have 2 family members that are Opthamologists, so I’m not unfamiliar with eye care.
