This doctor is to old and lazy he use same technique and tactics to every patient! When I complain at pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, He ask me to eat Greek yogurt and give me recipes of spaghetti that was print and lie at big pile at reception! That he give every one! And I told him I am at diet already I don’t eat fry, sweet, meat.he not prescribed any medicine for me not set a endoscopy or anything else! And I heart how he advised same diet to the other patient next door while I was waiting! Suck!

Dr. Loewe is likely the worst GI doctor I have encountered. I went with my father to see Dr. Loewe due to GI issues and extreme weight loss my father was experiencing. I had to make suggestions to Dr. Loewe in what I suspected was wrong (I suffered from many of the same symptoms and was treated by a GI team in another state successfully). I had to make suggestions on the tests I thought my dad needed, which Dr. Loewe did order for my father. He was not concerned about the extreme weight loss my father experienced, stating " my father was previously obese". This was upsetting because even though my father was previously obese, such rapid weight loss, the amount of weight loss and the manner in which the weight was lost was something that should have been taken seriously and was not by Dr. Loewe. The test results revealed that my dad indeed had the same conditions that I had, strictures in the esophagus, gerd, and gastroparesis. Dr. Loewe approached the issue very different than my GI team addressed mine (even though it was the same condition). Knowing my fathers medical history of having a triple bypass, Dr. Loewe proceeded to prescribe my father a non FDA approved drug from Canada called Domperidone. This medicine can have serious heart side effects and should have never been prescribed for my father. Not only that, the medicine did not help his gastroparesis. My fathers weight continued to drop and his malnutrition continued to get worse. For my gastroparesis, I had a J feeding tube placed, which is what they should have done for my father. I mentioned this a few times to Dr. Loewe who dismissed my request. Move forward to December/January and my father is diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The Domperidone is not discontinued. My father still is malnourished and the doctor acts with negligence towards my fathers worsening condition. Move forward to the beginning of July. My father had to be admitted to the hospital and the severity of his malnourishment and heart failure had progressed too far. My father ended up losing his life. Don't get me wrong. Perhaps Domperidone does help some patients (especially those without pre exsisting heart conditions), but after discovering that the medicine was not working and knowing the patient had a pre exsisting heart condition and the patient was severely malnourished, a feeding tube should have been explored. Im not a doctor, but i do suffer from gastroparesis and malnutrition and what has kept me alive is a feeding tube. I do not believe that Dr. Loewe is completely to blame in the death of my father but i feel that he acted with neglect in the treatment of my father and my father likely would have lived at least a few more years. If he was not so malnourished, he could have had a heart transplant. My father died at 69 and i contribute a big part in his passing to Dr. Loewe. I am not "looking for someone to blame". When it is time, its time. Different doctors have different methods but I do honestly feel that if Dr. Loewe would have used a similar approach that my doctor's used to treat my same condition, my father would still be alive today, and if not, malnutrition and being unable to eat would not have been a huge factor in his death and I would not be giving Dr. Loewe such a poor review.

After having a terrible experience at another practice, I called this office to inquire about switching my father's care to this location. The experience was like night and day. I spoke at length to Brooke, a medical assistant at the practice. She was incredibly helpful, personable, responsive and supportive-I can't adequately express what a difference that makes to patients and their families. Thank you for reminding me that there are GI offices out there that really do care. Means the world.

My daughter saw Dr Loewe over a week ago, and we are still waiting for Brooke to get the doctor to prescribe medicine that the insurance company, Florida Blue, will approve. They must only prescribe medicine that they get kickbacks on! Don't go to this practice if you want timely treatment options.

I had a colonoscopy yesterday done by Dr. Loewe. I requested no anesthesia since I don't seem to do well with it and he said that would not be a problem. It was an excellent experience-no pain whatsoever-a bit of pressure a couple of times but I would recommend this to everyone. I came out of the procedure the best I ever have. I drove myself to the gym for my regular Crossfit workout in the afternoon and felt great.

Almost 6 years ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at the age of 25 by Dr. Loewe. Flash forward to present day, Dr. Loewe has worked with me every step of the way to not only keep my disease in remission, but this year guided me in getting my body in total remission to achieve a successful pregnancy. At the end of this year, my husband and I welcomed our first child, a very healthy baby girl. While having ulcerative colitis can have its frustrations, Dr. Loewe has ultimately helped me eliminate most of those and have a very healthy and easy pregnancy. My husband and I are eternally grateful that there are doctors out there like Dr. Loewe who always stay up to date and take the time to thoroughly research and help his patients in dealing with their gi issues. Without him I never would have had the probem/stress-free pregnancy that I had or my perfect daughter today. While at Sarasota Memorial hospital to deliver my daughter, Dr. Loewe even came to my room to check in on me to ensure that I was doing ok post labor, my medicine was in check, and I had the appropriate medical attention to help reduce my risk of a flare postpartum. He is one of a kind and an unbelievable doctor that I would recommend a million times over to anyone dealing with any form of gastrointestinal issues.

This is my third colonoscopy with Dr. Loewe. Each time he was very professional, attentive and thorough with his explanations before and after the procedures. He answered all my questions and had a very nice bedside manner. He definitely knows his line of expertise inside and out and is very compassionate about it.
Beginning with the receptionist on to the nurses and anesthesiologist I saw smiling faces. I felt everyone was working as a team. The atmosphere was quiet and calm.

Dr Loewe is an exceptional Doctor, he has taken care of both myself and my husband. He spends time and explains procedures and results. His skills and knowledge are superior, and to add to that he is a kind man. I also want to give kudos to his great office and nursing staff. I recommend him highly for anyone looking for a Gastroenterologist.

Dr. Loewe has saved my life yet again! He is the ONLY doctor I trust, I have been going to him for 6 yrs. He actually listens, he is not arrogant or ignorant like other doctors I have come across. He is very knowledgeable, willing to explore different options and diets knowing that every case is different and willing to except the fact that there is still much to be learned when it comes to IBD. This last time I went to an ER closest to my house and was administered a pill cam which I didn't know much about but a pill cam is not to be administered if there are any known strictures or possible blockages and a proxy cam should be given first to make sure the pill cam will pass.which I was unaware of and was not given ahead of time. A few weeks later I came back to the same ER with abdominal pain and rectal bleeding and was told that the pill cam was causing a small bowel blockage. I was admitted but when the on call GI and resident doctor visited me they treated me badly and said that I was in remission, no reason to be in pain or have GI bleed and that I would pass the pill cam on my own. A week later I was having extreme abdominal pain that was unusual and called Dr. Loewes after hours answering service, he called back and told me that I needed to go back to that ER right away and needed a bowel resection to have the pill cam removed. When I went back to the ER that night we learned that the pill cam perforated my bowel and I could have died if I didn't come back to the ER by then! Thank you Dr. Loewe!

I have known and been a loyal patient of Dr. Charles Loewe for over 25 years and highly recommend him for both colonoscopy and endoscopy services. He recently performed these services for me and, as always, the entire process was very positive.
