Chelly's Jamaican Restaurant reviews
17Best Jamaican food I’ve had in south Florida. I’ve been to 20+ spots and the food here is fresh, affordable, and tastes amazing. 10/10
Saw it on my maps app and checked out the menu. Since I was 5 minutes away, I decided to stop and try them out. I had a small curried goat, and I got the small stew peas for my daughter. A very tasty curried goat, nicely seasoned with the right amount of scotch bonnet heat. I'll update you when my daughter eats her stew peas. Update, my daughter ate her stew peas with genuine salted pigs tail and she was very satisfied. Illvtryvit on my next visit.
I was satisfied with my choice and the service was very friendly and pleasant. The ambiance was good and I'll try them again.
I'm on my second visit, I must admit I didn't have the stew peas, but I had the curried beef tripe. Again I was not disappointed. Chelly made my Jamaican home cooked meal a hit once more.
My first time having food at Chelly's Jamaican restaurant and it was sooo good I had to return with my Mother a second time to try more! I have been to several Caribbean restaurants but nothing compares to Chelly's. I have tried their Bar-B-fried chicken, jerk chicken, rice and peas, steamed cabbage, ripe sweet plantain and curry goat. Quality of food is 10/10, Service 10/10, Atmosphere 10/10. I didn't get the name of the gentleman and young lady working on August 18 and August 23 but big up and respect to you both. You both were so sweet, kind and friendly, that is the service that I admire and respect.
The menu is spectacular they sell different items on different days but they have a great variety such as ackee and saltfish, breadfruit, jerk chicken, bar-b-fried chicken, curry chicken, fried dumpling, stew peas, curry goat, cow foot, escovitch fish, pepper shrimp, curry shrimp, baked macaroni and cheese, rice and peas, white rice, mixed veggie rice, boiled dumpling, green banana, yam and more! The most variety I have ever seen at a Jamaican restaurant!
Next time I am in town I will be sure to stop by. To all the staff: Keep up the great work!
Extremely friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the vegetarian wrap and they DELIVERED. The lady asked me what I could eat and when I told her "anything but meat" she was happy to make me a 'deluxe' wrap. I cannot describe in words how satisfied I was with my meal. 10/10, would go again (yes there was mac and cheese in the wrap)
Wasn’t sure what I wanted because I’ve never really had Jamaican food but Samantha steered me in the right direction! She was super sweet and helpful with all my questions. I got the brown stew chicken and it was incredible. Big portions and super reasonable prices, I’ll be back for sure!
Best Jamaican food i’ve had on my visit to Florida. Everything was seasoned well, and tasted delicious!
I’m not a huge fan of Jamaican cuisine but this place has certainly changed my opinion. Very tasty, well seasoned food! I had oxtails and curry chicken and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! The two people working the restaurant made me feel very welcomed and entertained my questions with humor, grace, and advice. I was very very happy. And it was a lot of food; we couldn’t finish it. It’s safe to say that we’ll be returning!
The food is outstanding at this spot. If you like Jamaican food, this place is the best in Tamarac.
We ordered over phone and I picked up food in 15 mins. The meals were packed perfectly and beautifully. The staff greets you by name, and this is a first time I felt like family at a Jamaican restaurant, LOL
The meals were fried and brown stew snappers. It's the best Stew fish I have ever eaten. Chellys' also has pepper shrimp on Fridays and sometimes roast fish stuffed with vegetables
I was on my lunch break and went to a restaurant next to it they turned out to be closed. Chelly’s was open and there was a 4 person line. Line was resolved quick even though a party of three came in last minute and was given priority, they looked like regulars and I’m guessing is a sign of good customer service to loyal customers. Curry chicken was very spicy as it should be! I would go back again.
This is a great lunch place. Quick and easy. The brown stew chicken was sweet but very moist. The rice and peas were good. The vegetables were really crunchy and tasteful. Overall b+
So the food is great, but I really wish they would give me all the items I order on DoorDash. Most of the times when I order plantains, I never get it. Sometimes they say it’s because they’re out of it. So this time, I called ahead to ask if they had some and they said they did, but when I received my order, no plantains! When I called to ask why, she said I should of told them my order so that they would’ve made sure to put them in my meal, but if they said they had them and it’s clearly on the DoorDash order, why not automatically put it in? I shouldn’t have to call every time I want a certain item in my meal.
Again, the food is good and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I would just appreciate if they took the time to read the order properly and give me ALL of the items I order.
If it happens again, I will not order from them, because it’s really not that difficult!
It’s better every time, without fail. I always get my Goat n Boil Dumplin. I done scarfed my food and all that linger now is the flavorrr.
All I can say is WOW
Friendly
Clean
Tasty!
Im a regular now!
Thank you
"Broward Hidden Gem" indeed
My Son ordered food from here yesterday and let me tell you how fresh and good the food was.amazing I really wish they were open today
I work next to this family owned Jamaican restaurant and omg they never disappoint! The verity of food it’s always hot and fresh! I definitely will be recommending this location to anyone and everyone that likes or wants to try Jamaican food and not only is the food great the customer service is amazing they are very personable super sweet!
I don’t often write reviews but in this case I feel compelled. I have eaten from here only twice. Both times I have ordered lunch size curried goat with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. I also have had the sorrel. Both homemade and bottled. The atmosphere is always friendly. The portion size is great. The food is stupendous. The prices are very reasonable. Being as pale white as a bed sheet my sense of adventure when it comes to different types of food can be challenging. I will try something new next time. As good as their food is I think I will be alright. I have interacted with both the mother and the son. I’m sorry I’m bad with names. They are a pleasure to do business with. This is now my new favorite Jamaican restaurant. I hope you continue to do well.
