Compass RV Resort / Sun Outdoors St. Augustine reviews
15Lovely well kept park! Lots of places to walk the dogs too! 2 dog parks, places to recycle and clean. Stayed one night. Will be back.
#1. Forget free wifi. It is down and unusable more times than is reasonably acceptable. 7 out of our first 8 days it was out completely. Office staff response was ho-hum, nothing we can do about it. During our 3rd and final week it was down EVERY morning. Called corporate's customer service and left several messages with no call back.
#2. Fireplaces are only cleaned when the site is vacated. If you have several fires the ashes will pile up in their cheap aluminum fire pits (every one of which has large holes which allow ashes and embers to drop through).
3#. (This is not the campsite's fault but.) bring your wallet. St Augustine will bankrupt you! $7 slices (yes slices) of pizza, $7+ single scoop ice cream cone, and $10-20 or more per person to get you in to almost any attraction, + $10-20 to park.
Compass (Sun Rv) Resort was a nice destination campground. The park was very clean and they have community activities so campers can get to meet each other if that’s your thing. It’s very close to all St. Augustine has to offer. As I understand it is common with destination campgrounds for the sites to be pretty tight, their sites are tight! But overall it was a great stay. I would of gave 5 stars but the WiFi was non-existent. We heard several stories from the staff about why there was no WiFi. I spoke to someone who had been there for 3 weeks and he stated he has not had WiFi his whole stay. I spoke to the office the day before and asked if our site had WiFi. They assured me The Whole park has it. So I’m not sure if calling ahead makes a difference. Honestly I do think they do have it but had some technical issues for a while. The cable for TV worked well. Overall we had a great stay and I would stay again.
Nice Campgrounds within 10mins to anything. Staff is spectacular and helpful. Good internet and cable TV. Gated and safe. Very pet friendly.
Staying at Sun Outdoors (formally Compass RV) in St Augustine. Not quite the same since they changed ownership. Compass staff was warmer and more professional. The escort had no clue how to properly lead a RV to the assigned slot (which was changed without notice). He gave poor directions and stood in my blind spot. I finally sent him on his way and parked myself. Other than that we'll monitor the next few days. Tonight is #NewYearsEve2022 so it'll be interesting to see if they compare to the last 3 years. Tuesday it off to Key West wear we'll meet friends at Boyd's RV Resort.
I work here and it's the funnest place ever! Our guests are amazing and the activities are great! Hand down the best RV park around!
We stayed 6 nights at Sun Outdoors St. Augustine in December 2021. We loved the park, it was clean, everything worked, everyone was friendly. They had a Christmas site decorating contest and a few holiday activities at the clubhouse. The location was perfect and there is a Dollar General store at the entrance that you can walk to if you need anything. Barbara, Vicky and Melissa were exceptional employees and very knowledgeable and friendly. We will go back to Sun Outdoors.
Good location right near Saint Augustine. Friendly staff. Spacious sites. The only downfall was we were close to the road and heard too much car traffic. Extremely clean with updated bathrooms. Other than that this place is awesome.
The sites in the back are great. Good electric and water. Friendly staff. Will be back when in the area again.
By far one of the BEST RV campgrounds we have ever stayed at! The sites are extremely clean, layout was great (easy to pull in/out), super friendly staff. Short drive to shopping, restaurants, downtown and the beach. Their dog park is awesome! Campers of all ages. We will definitely be back!
Very nice campground, friendly and organized staff. This is our second visit and would definitely come back again.
Let me start off with the good things. This park is about 15 - 30 minute drive from the downtown St. Augustine area. The staff were very pleasant and the bathrooms were super clean. The dog park is huge. They have a nice looking pool and activities on the weekends including live music.
Now for the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. We decided to do a back in spot because we have dogs and wanted a little extra privacy as in many parks you back up to a fence or trees. However, because we did not pay the extra charge to "lock in" our site we got stuck in a triangular wedge of a site situated between a least 6 other campers. Not one little bit of privacy. As soon as we stepped out the camper door we were confronted with several people and dogs each time. Our dogs are excitable but can be easily distracted, however when there is not one area that was semi private anywhere near our camper that is hard to do. We were also so close to the the other sites that when they backed in their larger rigs they were almost on top of us. That made it a very frustrating and not a relaxing weekend. The water pressure in the women's shower was very poor as well but at least it did get hot.
The park was nice and had some really nice sites so I did give it 3 stars for that but deducted 2 because we did not enjoy OUR time there. I wouldn't say don't go, just if you do reserve, make sure to pay the extra cost to "lock in" your site so your vacation is pleasant. Lesson learned the hard way.
One of the best RV park/resort. Friendly staff, good prices, clean restrooms, huge dog park and trees everywhere. It's a beautiful place to stay. Close to everything in Saint Augustine. Definitely coming back.
Spent 3 nights there for the Thanksgiving weekend. We have a 30 ft class A and made the reservation 5 months in advance and travel with dogs. With that being said, I chose a back in lot. Unfortunately, they gave me lot #54 which is directly next to a pull thru lot. The "neighbors" were literally 5 feet from us. They also had a dog that barked non stop at our dogs so we had to keep ours inside since they kept their camper door open. The lot we had and ridiculously closeness to the next door campers ruined this trip. I think the employees should have enough sense to offer or suggest a different site upon asking numerous questions for the reservation. The park itself was nice but the difference between the front of the park and the Oasis is night and day. In the future, I would definately return but I would spend the extra money and stay in the Oasis.
We only stayed one night, just passing thru. Very nice campground! Easy in and out, we arrived late and the ranger on duty met us and took us to our site. Shower house was very clean, well lit. Our site was level, we had a pull thru. Lots and lots of very large trees. Highly recommend!
