Costa Brava / Cordova reviews
19 This is my favorite restaurant in San Diego. I love coming here for celebrations, date nights, or just a dinner with friends. It was such a warm and intimate ambiance, I would have never expected such a gem to be right off of Garnet!
Make sure to make a reservation in advance, I usually try to make a reservation DAYS (maybe even a week) in advance to ensure I can get a table because the wait time for walk ins are always insane (or maybe I've just never been lucky).
The food was good but overpriced. Also, the menu was very limited. The server was nice, but seemed inexperienced and had to be prompted when we placed our orders. I have eaten here before and probably would again under the right circumstances. It's just unfortunate I was still hungry when I got home.
Martin our server was excellent, knowledgeable and made great suggestions. I picked the wrong day for paella. (only served on various days.) Make sure you check before you go if that’s your dish choice for the night.
Had a lovely dinner at the costa brava. We were early to our reservation but the manager offered us a table in the bar area for cocktails. Instead, my boyfriend and I explored the hotel and art galleries. Great way to kill time, absolutely make a reservation. The food, ridiculously amazing. I had the prime filet, boyfriend had the lamb. Wow. The sauce with the lamb was incredible, chef cooked my filet to perfection. Also indulged in the lavender 75 - delish. Boyfriend had the bourbon flight - worth the $45. The BEST part of our dining experience was hands down our server Alec. Highly professional and knowledgeable of his menu. Knew when to give us space and delivered top tier service. Thank you alec!
Very disappointing, very poor quality food and very high prices, I do not recommend this place. Never again
This place was packed and very happening! Service was good and I will definitely be back to enjoy the food.
Very disappointing, very poor quality food and overpriced I do not recommend this place. I do not recommend any plate… 22$ for a five pieces of dry ceviche! 15$ for five pieces of lettuce they called Caesar salad! Lord! Never again! Drinks cocktails very bad if you decide to eat at Walmart would be a better experience! Farewell
This place offered a decent experience. It offered beautiful decor and a solid staff. The restaurant was not overly crowded for dinner so was not too loud. We had the paella which came out faster than expected and was a solid portion. I enjoyed the food but it was not anything crazy exceptional. It is in a convenient location and offered a nice dining experience.
As tourists- each meal is a surprise. This had the added advantage of being fairly pleasant.
Tucked quietly and discreetly near the lobby of the Casa Monica Resort is to the Costa Brava. It was 3pm on a Wednesday and we were famished (having skipped lunch and had an early breakfast).
The atmosphere is very impressive. The staff is friendly and super welcoming.
My wife, daughter thoroughly enjoyed each tasty bite of their delicious meals.
My daughter was delighted with her gluten free hamburger. Perfectly prepared and presented. ($16)
My wife found her fish (grouper) & chips the best and most satisfying fried fish she’s ever eaten. She loved every morsel and despite my best efforts- refused to share even a crumb with me. ($22)
My turkey sandwich was good - but I wasn’t as satisfied with the seasonings and consistency of my meal as the rest of my family. ($17)
I will say that despite my personal disappointment- we all left with our cravings met and our stomachs filled. Based upon my wife’s recommendations- I probably should have ordered the fish.
They charged me for highest priced pellalla 46 or 48 bucks and gave me lower priced chicken one. In general service was so so. I didn't want to debate for few bucks because I wanted to get out
Don’t believe the reviews! We visited here for dinner while on vacation. My grouper was very tough and tasteless. Hubby’s filet was also tasteless. Very overpriced for the quality. The server (Sierra) was nice but definitely didn’t care that our food was mediocre even though I told her it was not good and sent back a full plate. Don’t waste your time or money!
Had an amazing time on a Saturday night. Or server Christiana was spot on. All of her menu suggestions were delicious. The lamb dish is delectable! Highly recommend making a reservation and going.
Idk about any other meal, but breakfast was not it. They were severely understaffed and the food just was not good. I’m giving 2 stars because the 2 ppl that were actually there were super nice
We stayed at casa Monica hotel for 2 nights, my mom and I have dinner at the restaurant. The waitress was so nice to us checking on us at each dishes. We ordered paella for two, the taste was so good than we expected. Due to the portion we didn’t finish it. I feel bad we couldn’t pack the food. There is no microwave in the hotel.
The $58 grouper was overcooked and the risotto that came with it was undercooked. Don’t waste your time or your money here. Pretty room, though.
Great appetizer, great main course, great dessert, and great drinks. Amazing experience overall, the service was very accommodating. Live piano music set a great tone
Breakfast was setup for our parents 50th anniversary. They loved the place! Make sure you enter the building via the tunnel and take advantage of the $5 valet parking. Service was fast and drinks and food amazing. This is going to be our go-to upscale non-weekend breakfast place. If I would say something negative is that the crème brûlée French toast weren’t as exciting as the name claims - it was great anyway …
We had our wedding reception in the Sultan's Room of the Costa Brava. The food and beverage people were not the best at communicating during the lead up to the day, however the hustle shown by the staff the day of the event, quality of food and service made it a 5 star experience hands down. We had a small reception of 22 guest, but all were impressed by the steak, porkchop, and fish! Days later they were still talking about the food.
BRAVO COSTA BRAVA! Recently, my wife and I decided to visit the Casa Monica Resort in downtown Saint Augustine for her birthday dinner. We have not dined at Costa Brava in quite some time, but upon reviewing their new menu, decided to give them a try. What an exceptional dining experience we had, supported by outstanding service! Our charming and poised server Kristina, anticipated our every need and balanced her engagement with our table perfectly. My wife enjoyed one of the best prepared pieces of grouper she has ever had with a unique poblano pepper sauce she still talks about. I chose one of the "signature dishes". The Hunters Paella (only available Friday and Saturday) which was one of the heartiest meals I've ever enjoyed! Prepared and served in a shallow wok style bowl, the paella had a great mix of flavors, with short rib, chorizo, chicken, red peppers, mushrooms and peas, mixed with a wonderful rice blend, some of which was clinging to the top area of the wok, and had an incredible crispy texture and outstanding flavor. Lastly, the Hunters Paella was lightly drizzled with a datil aioli which was amazing! I actually requested extra aioli from our server, and to our surprise Chef Chris came out with it himself, and wished my wife a happy birthday! With birthday cake waiting at home, we declined Chef’s kind offer for a special desert. I look forward to our next visit, and am always happy to have a great dining experience in our home town of Saint Augustine!
