Costco optical in Clearwater has excellent customer service and prices! KB helped me from the time I got there through the purchase, explaining my options and benefits. Even though costco was out of network, my prescription glasses are still $100 cheaper than the eye doctors office that was in network with VSP and they had a good selection including the designer glasses I chose. Other reviewers said they waited long but I went on Saturday at 11am and they had 3 people working so no one waited long. Highly recommend!

First time patients of Costco Optical in Clearwater. Dr. Pham and her PA were very professional and helpful during our exams. Renee, the optician, was patient and helpful with choosing frames and answering questions on current lens design and AR that Costco offers. We found the digital progressive design is very adaptable so getting use to a new design was seamless. (Wife and I have been wearing Varilux Comfort and Physio DRx designs for years, adaptability to a retail design was my main concern.) We went with the Transitions upgrade gray and graphite green. We also chose Rx sunwear, my wife went with polarized and I opted for Drivewear polarized lenses.
Going big box retail was painless experience for us.and to top it off, the cost of 4 pair of digital design lenses with premium treatments was nearly half of what we expected!

I've been a long time Costco member but will not be renewing the membership to get deplorable and despicable customer service from rude employee. I easily could post his name but I let it life slap his face everyday with the same attitude and rudeness giving to him the same lack of customer service and NO I'll never recommend this place.

Went to Cosco optical to renew my contact lens prescription. Just want to report a horrible experience. The doctor at the time asked if I wanted to try a different brand and if it didn't work out he would change to my normal brand. The 3rd day wearing them they literally popped out. Fortunately he gave me another pair. So I want to change back to my old Oasis because these contacts are moving around in my eye constantly. I took them out and put on some old glasses that I have. I am busy mom of 4 kids and 2 jobs now getting around to get this resolved. I called to have the prescription changed, the doctor was not there and the lady answered the phone immediately said looks like you are over 30 days and the doctor will probably need to re-do your exam. Seriously. I just got the exam mid August 20. I told her what is happening and she said for now I will print off your current prescription and give it to the Costco contact and glasses salesmen at the counter. I came into Costco and their said that the contacts that are on the prescription needs to be custom ordered. Okay wow. Now I am wearing old glasses (which is giving me a head ache). I have no "different" eye site and my normal contacts are Oasis disposables. Apparently no one there know what CUSTOMER SERVICE means.

Dr Pham and Ann were nothing short of amazing. They are very knowledgeable, kind, walk you through your exam and answer any and all questions. I'm glad I gave this practice a shot, and it will become my go-to from now on.
As for glass purchasing, Mackenzie was incredibly helpful and sweet.
This to me was a great experience

I’ve gone to Costco on many different occasions to purchase glasses, and all my experiences have been great except my most recent one. One female employee there gave the worst attitude. I was simply confused on the size of the frames and asked a few questions. She constantly rolled her eyes and gave a terrible attitude. I went to look at more glasses and by that time she was gone. One of her colleagues were kind enough to direct me to the frames that would fit. That was very helpful. I was disappointed today with their customer service at Costco Optical.

I have never been to a more unprofessional eye doctor’s office. The level of disrespect for their patient’s time and care experience without remorse is inconceivable. When I first attempted to contact the office, I was never able to reach their line. It always goes to voicemail with a message saying that they are not open on sundays and to leave a voicemail. For that reason I thought maybe they’re just really busy and since I was in the area I decided to walk in and personally schedule my appointment. Although I walked and was was given an appointment time in, I was never offered the opportunity to perhaps fill out my paperwork while in the office in efforts to expedite the process the day of my appointment.

Well the day of my appointment came, and I had a 45 minute drive. While I was on my way and with 35 minutes notice prior to my appointment, I attempted to call the office 3 times and was unable to reach them (once again). I left a voicemail to let them know I would be perhaps 5-10 mins late by the time I walked in and to please call me if they had any objections or concerns in case I needed to reschedule my appointment. Being a healthcare professional, I have high regard for patient and doctor time, and for that reason I wanted to be respectful and call ahead. I never heard back from them. When I arrived to the office, it was 5 minutes past my appointment time. The front lady was helping another gentleman and I took a sit while I waited for her to be available. At this point, by the time she was able to help me, it was 10 minutes into my appointment. The staff member proceeded to tell me that I was late and that my appointment had to be rescheduled. I apologized that I was late and let her know I had called ahead to give notice and since I did not hear back I assumed it would be ok for me to still come in for the appointment. She told me they close at 6: 00pm and the doctor could NOT do the exam in 20 minutes. Then she proceeded to tell me that she did not receive any voicemails from me. I let her know I sure did call 3 times. She checked her phone and said “oops I do have one message”. She got up from the chair and went to check with the doctor. She walked out of the exam room and said, “ I am sorry we can’t see you today” the doctor has to leave. She offered to reschedule, at this point I was upset given that I had drove this far and called ahead and was not able to be seen. I understand the doctors time is very valuable; but at least a greeting from doctor perhaps apologizing and taking a second to show that he cared, in my opinion would have gone a long way. I chose to not reschedule and I will not be coming in to this office again. I would suggest that if their scheduling allows for no wiggle room for patients being a little bit late (because at the end of the day, life happens and things come up) they should at least notify their patients when scheduling regarding their non-tolerance late policy. At least it would give their patients the choice and a chance to be aware of the expectations and if like in my situation the patient knows they will be running late, to not have to waste their time driving there to be turned away without regard. Once again, I am not a person to complain; but this experience really disappointed me about their office. Therefore, for anyone considering this office for eye care, if you appreciate good care and patient regard, go somewhere else. Find someone else. The fact that they are inside of Costco does not mean you will be saving on the cost, I compared and their prices are pretty standard compared to others in the industry. I had scheduled at their office for convenience since I use Costco’s optic. Now Costco’s optic is great, I have purchased glasses and contacts from them and they have been great and professional every time. Keep in mind they are NOT related to the independent eye doctor “Phamily Eye Care”. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PHAMILY EYE CARE TO ANYONE!
