We found Couture Optique (and the proprietor Barry) out of desperation when our longtime Miami Design District optician closed and left us with no local option for ic! Berlin frames.

Couture Optique is one of a disappearing few of truly independent opticians who curates his frames wares based on the proprietor’s judgment and sources them widely and globally.

Most eyeglass shops are really brainless single manufacturer retailers regardless of brands displayed, since most frames you see are made by behemoth Luxxotica. I’m not knocking Luxxotica, but you only get a fairly limited selection, since Luxxotica-controlled shops will not carry many independently made frames (like ic! Berlin).

My husband has been using his ic! Berlin frames for many years, just replacing the lenses, that’s how sturdy they are.

When he finally needed a replacement, we found Couture Optique and crossed multiple county lines north in our quest.

Couture Optique is Barry Franzblau, and Barry Franzblau is Couture Optique. He runs the place, and is the fount of all knowledge.

Needless to say, it’s not for everyone. For one thing, the pricetag might scare off people who just wander in, window-shopping. It’s not Luxxotica mass-produced prices, that’s for sure. But if you are in a job where precise eyesight is important and willing to pay extra for above-and-beyond comfort, give this place a try.

Apart from his frames, my husband is also absolutely amazed at the lenses, the lightest he has ever had, which is all thanks to Barry. You won’t get this obsessive attention to detail and industry knowledge anywhere else.

If you have very bad eyesight, give him a try; Barry will hook you up with some very obscure lenses that are extremely light. The difference is profound.

As for myself, for the first time in decades I actually enjoy wearing my new frameless glasses from this place, rather than using my glasses as just contact lens backup.

We are sold. God willing, we will get our eyeballs done here for years to come.

Great store, with fantastic glasses selection. Like other reviews have noted, Barry will make the experience worth the price and have you receiving complements on your purchase wherever you go. Barry gives honest feedback and thoughtful suggestions on frame selection and how to tweak the look to best suit you (like using a different lense shape or shade, or adding extra details if that's what you're looking for). Can't wait to receive my next pair!

Barry to the rescue! I moved back to the US a few months ago from Germany. Right after my arrival I broke my favorite sunglasses (ic! Berlin). After doing my research I found out that very few places sell them in the US and one of them is Couture Optique. Barry was fantastic helping me get exactly what I wanted and he even met me at the airport to measure and make sure that is exactly what I was looking for. Talking about Bespoke Service!
