Rented a car from dollar at st Pete location 25 mar, 2023 for 4 days. Saw many bad reviews before picking it up so l was leary, but zero problems for me. Staff was freindly and fast at pickup and drop off. No surprise fees and car nice and clean. Would rent and recommend any time.
Rented from same location again Dec 2013. Still many bad reviews about this place. Not sure what they complain about. Reserved the car, picked it up, dropped it off, no hassles. Only complaint is the $15 surcharge when going through electronic toll booths, but hey, I knew about it before I rented the car
I had pretty bad experience with Dollar. We rented a car and while we were on our way car battery died on us. Even though we had to take care of the battery ourselves, find the repair shop and pay for the repair, we did not get our money back for the repair cost. I personally find this unacceptable.
The woman who answered the phone was the MOST rude and non qualified individual to be working for anyone’s company! It was as if my calling and inquiring about their credit check was a total inconvenience. When I told her I would be paying with a debit card, she then went on a tirade about how “We got them bad, us debit card users” during Covid and that’s why I must do a credit check. The woman was so upset at the world that she didn’t understand I was simply asking if I could run the credit check PRIOR to the rental because i couldnt afford to book with them and then be turned away the day of rental.i will NEVER try to rent anything from them again. I wouldnt even rent a roll of toilet paper to whipe my rear end from them because of that woman.
READ THE REVIEWS! This place and the miserable, unprofessional woman at the front desk is THE WORST. Rude, impatient. The day before Christmas of all days. Told us at 4 times that she tells people not to do pre-paid AFTER we pre-paid. Once we established they didn't have a Delorian to rent to resolve that problem. She told us we needed to cancel that pre-paid, with zero knowledge that we'd be charged a fee for that. Wanted to do a new reservation, so she'd get the commission on it I imagine. We walked out and paid $30 more per day, for likely a nicer vehicle, at Enterprise on E. Bay in Largo - WELL WORTH IT. They were phenomenal. We have a Hertz charge on our credit card for this nonsense. Trying to get a refund is a nightmare so we'll likely be filing a charge back dispute. No matter how good the deal seems. Save yourself the misery and go elsewhere.
Made online reservations… within 15 minutes of making reservation we arrived at car rental and they claimed they didn’t have a car to rent us and that though they saw our online reservation they don’t have to honor it …. Sooo we were out of our visit to family for dinner and won’t ever use Dollar Car rental in at Pete beach
No doubt it was because it was 25 minutes til they closed and didn’t want to deal with the paperwork

We rented 2 vehicles from this place on the same day and they tried to rip us off. We rented 1 car for 1 day, added a second driver and was told the total cost would be $57. When we returned it the next day they said their computers were down and would email me the receipt. When they charge hit the card the total was about $150. They claimed the vehicle came back with no gas and there was a $50 charge for adding a second driver. We were told that it was $44 for the car for the day and the total cost would be $57 after all the additional fees. The car came back with a full tank and they straight up lied about the total cost. The second vehicle we rented was for the rest of the week. The next day I called and asked how much it would be to add the toll road service to the rental. Tracy, the owner, said her computer was still down and to call her the next day if I wanted to add it because I was only considering it and wanted to know how much it would be. We never called her back to add it and low and behold when we turned the car in she added it AND there was the unexpected charge for the second driver. I’m lucky I turned it in at a different location because I bet she would have tried to claim it was returned with an empty tank. This place is shady af. Do not trust them and give your business to a more reputable company.
Booked a car from them on Uber. Payed for an Uber to get here and was told they didn’t have anything available
Worst rental car experience of my life and we travel alot! 55 minutes before the first shuttle went through the airport. I ended up walking to the rental building and leaving my mom with my kids at the airport. An hour and a half in line to get the car. The car was dirty and dented and scratched. The workers were some of the most miserable people I've ever met. One man trying to intimidate me because I didn't know how to get out. It was poorly marked and cars just parked randomly. I would rather pay double and never have that experience again. Just horrible!
No reason to pre-check in they don't have any cars and they are just unbelievably slow.
To wait in line this long for someone to be lying to you saying they have cars when they don't makes no sense checked in for no reason.
Told after you PAID to wait 1 hour
Will never use this company again at least not at this Airport.
3 pm reservation 6 pm after they have been payed they have you and your money I will repost every month for the next 6 months
I am dissatisfied, wasn't told there's an additional charge of $13.50 for a second driver a day, called the office where we rented it, they said nothing they could do, call customer service, they said they couldn't take it off my bill, said, call back where you rented it, just pass the buck!
