Excellent in all ways- doctor, staff and all aspects of my experience. Had a problem with trigger thumb which was chronic and quite painful. Dr Matthews explained the options and I chose to get the injection. It was the handling of the injection which I most appreciated-they are quite painful and my experience with a doctor in another state left me dreading the shot.
This experience was much better than last time in many ways- less painful, quicker, and well managed. I realized this team really knew what they were doing. My hand is already feeling much better though I was told it could take longer to get full results. I would (and have) recommend (ed) Dr Matthews without reservation.

Meeting Dr. Matthews was a pleasure. Great bedside manner and a very caring person about his patients. He made me feel very comfortable. He was very Professional. The whole staff was very courteous, very professional and very friendly made you feel welcomed. I also need to thank Dr. Matthews for squeezing me in when I was late. I wish the Cortizone shots helped but it didn’t. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Dr Matthews is a very professional, caring and knowledgeable Orthopedic doctor and surgeon with speciality in hands. He has treated both of my hands with CMC surgery on both thumbs. I am now out of arthritic pain and have full function of both thumbs and hands. Dr. Matthew's is wonderful. He is very pleasant & thorough. I had trigger finger & he fixed it right up with a minor surgery after the injection didn't work. I highly recommend him for all of your hand needs.

You aren’t just another number to Dr Matthews. He takes the time to know what is going on & gives you info on all options of surgery. He repaired my rotator cuff. I can sleep now & am well on the way to full motion in my shoulder

In May of 2019 I went to see Dr. Matthews about pain and movement problem in my left shoulder. X-Rays showed arthritis had eroded the bone structure of that joint. In June he successfully replaced the joint. I have regained full movement and usage of my shoulder. Not only did he do an excellent job but his friendly and professional style is what has impressed me the most. Never once did I feel rushed through an appointment of just another number. The day after my operation even through he was scheduled to leave for vacation, he was there to check my condition. All the follow up visit he is the one I see, that personal touch is what makes a patient feel relaxed and confident that they are in good hands.

Despite a shaky start with office staff, the doctor’s assistant and the doctor were great. Everything was explained and the injection procedure was done as agreed. Thank you Dr. Matthews.

Dr Mathews did a great job on my wrist and then recommended me to Shands hospital for a follow up with a specialist to determine the cause of my problem

Tthews is a wonderful surgeon that performed a full shoulder replacement for me. He was so empathic and patient with me with all my concerns and questions I had for him throughout the entire process. His follow up care was exceptional and the physical therapy department was so helpful and imparitive to my recovery. I am thankfull for all Dr. Matthews and his staff did for me and would highly recommend him.

I want to publicly say how fantastic the Orthopedic Clinic is in Port Orange. Dr. Martin did my knee and hip replacement surgeries and Dr. Matthews cared for my recent wrist and left thumb joint problems. When I need any care regarding my bone health this is the only place I turn to. Give them 5 stars out of five!

Immediately I felt confident in his care. He was the epitome of compassion and caring coaxing me with gentle encouragement when administering a painful steroid injection into my wrist.
