Rappaport botched my surgery and left me blind in my right eye. I had simple surgery for an infected eye.was referred to Rappaport so he could drain the eye. First surgery went well and I returned the next day for follow-up care. Rappaport informed me that he would have to go back in my eye when the swelling went down (2weeks) to remove foreign particles from the first surgery. 2 weeks later on a Monday, after seeing him every week day, I asked "when are we going to have surgery? " He stated that he rather not and to just let my body dispel the particles. The next Monday's visit he was examining my eye and saw that my retina was detached. He said the foreign particles had attached to my retina and detached it. He performed surgery two days later and this time it took almost 6 hours. While being discharged from Memorial the nurse escorting me told my ex wife that I should contact a lawyer! HE REMOVED MY LENS and my retina was still detached! Since that time I have ran into his assistant and she told me he is always getting sued and the reason why he scheduled my 3RD surgery 7 MONTHS later was because he didn't want to buy the scalpel he needed to do my surgery, so he borrowed them. DO NOT USE HIM!

Rappaport left me totally blind, and TREMENDOUSLY disfigured in my left eye. The extreme pain is 24/7! DO NOT ALLOW this man to perform surgery on your eyes. I DO NOT want anyone else to end up on the list of people whose retinal detachment surgeries he totally botched! His own staff sent me to another ophthalmologist, after the botched surgery. I wish they would have referred me prior to the surgery/during the preliminary surgical visit. After all, they told me, I have it in writing, that they had witnessed him botch previous surgeries; many times. His staff allegedly knew/said he was incompetent and unqualified to perform retinal detachment surgeries. His STAFF had a professional and moral obligation/responsibility, as medical professionals, to report him to the Florida State Medical Board immediately! I find his staff, and Memorial Hospital/Jacksonville just as culpable for my botched surgery rendering me disfigured, and totally blind in my left eye, as well. Citing the Hippocratic oath: 1st DO NO HARM. The day following the surgery, bandages came off, his assistant calmly asked me not to panic/get upset as she handed me a mirror. She then stated, your eye is not supposed to look like that! Rappaport cut into my eyeball, from the inner part of my nose to the pupil. I was livid! I cried uncontrollably after having seen what my eye looked like! Same day, Rappaport said he had to go back in my eye, after he’d already mucked it up! He stated, you have no peripheral. I had no sight, PERIOD! He then ushered me up to the front desk asked his office manager to cancel my next appointment because he was no longer accepting my insurance; then, he calmly turned and walked away. Seemingly, he cut the muscles in my eye which left me with a very droopy lid, almost shut, pupil stretched to the far left side of my eye socket! Total disaster! I am disfigured for life! The swelling was from my forehead, to my collarbone, covering the entire left-side of my face! I had to have 4-5 reconstructive surgeries. So many, I lost count! One of which required skin removed from my left eyelid to open the eye back up. Unfortunately, a surgeon was unable to center my pupil back to normal. A few days following the botched surgery, I was informed by the ophthalmologist his staff referred me to, that I needed to travel to Miami, FL to undergo immediate surgery with a specialist at Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute. None of the surgeries worked in getting my eye/eyeball back to normal. That is how badly/incompetently he performed the BOTCHED surgery. I have spent thousands of dollars, and time since this horrible tragedy happened; still am. Requiring me to purchase monthly, several prescription eyedrops needed to combat the constant redness, persistent infection, and grueling pain! Unimaginable! I am permanently disfigured, and totally blind in my left eye! Please view my horrific and disturbing photos of the botched surgery on YELP. Please, I repeat, DO NOT allow this man to perform surgery on your eyes! You have been warned!

Been here several times. Was recommended by a highly skilled opthamologist and after reading that one particular dramatic review, still will go to him for treatment. I see no gross negligence from a personal level. The office staff is also friendly and he has a large following. He has a laid back and quieter demeanor so if you are expecting belly laughs, search for someone else. I recommend Dr. Rappaport and trust him with my eyes.
