I have decided to become a commercial airline pilot and needed my vision to be 20/20 in order to meet the requirements. My prescription was relatively high with minus 6 in both eyes and additional minus 2, because of the astigmatism.
I initially had an evaluation at Bascom Palmer Institute, where I was told by an extremely rude doctor that 'they cannot give me the vision, I don't already have' and the I am not a candidate, because I would probably have a glare etc, and was left with shattered dreams and a brochure describing a surgery during which a lens would be implanted in each of my eyes costing over 12k.
I decided not to give up and remembered that my good friend had Lasik procedure done by Dr. Karp after she was told at Bascom Palmer that she was not a candidate, just like me.
I called and got an appointment within a week. Consultation was very fast. The staff at this facility was extremely nice, professional and very sympathetic to my situation. Dr. Karp said that my case is nothing he can't handle and my surgery was scheduled for the following week.
2 days before the procedure I received a phone call from the nurse, who was making sure I have the eyedrops that were prescribed and am ready to go.
The entire visit (including the procedure) took 45 minutes at the most. The surgery itself wasn't particularly pleasurable, but I was very comfortable and both doctor and the nurse made me feel like I was in good hands.
My next day follow up revealed that my vision is not 20/20 even though there was still a lot of inflammation and a some glare and blurriness.
I am now 4 days after the surgery, my eyes are healing and my vision is only getting better.
This was truly the best decision and the thing I did for myself.

Had my LASIK procedure with Dr. Karp yesterday afternoon and this morning I was seeing 20/15! He's great and all the staff at LASIK Plus are too!

Dr. Kenneth Karp is a calm collected well rounded physician who immediately made me feel that I could trust his expertise. He explained in detail what was going to be done for the LASIK procedure, and answered all my questions honestly. The staff are also very friendly and the service was within a relatively good amount of time, I did not feel like I was waiting forever to be seen. The LASIK procedure itself was very quick. After the day of surgery, I could not believe my eyes. I was able to see for the first time in my life as far as I could remember without corrective lenses. I am even 20/15 vision. Truly overall excellent service. I highly recommend going here.

I am day two post op, seeing 20/15! Nothing but great things to say about my experience with Dr. Karp and Ms. Heather! I came about 2 weeks ago for my consultation and Heather was amazing, she explained everything in detail then Dr. Karp came and answered any questions I had. Day of the operation came and I arrived right on time. Heather did some pre op exams on me and then about 45 minutes later came time for the lasik. I was a little bit nervous before laying down in the bed, but I felt comfortable because it was easy to see that I was in the hands of two very experienced professionals. So I laid there for about 10 minutes and I felt nothing! Heather did a nice countdown each time the laser was doing it thing on my eyes which I thought was cool, because all I could see was black and it let me know when it would be over! After the procedure I was good to go home! Went straight home and went to sleep, woke up already seeing really great. Next day my sight was getting even better! I went to my day one post op appointment and was told my sight is 20/15 which is better than 20/20 so needless to say I am beyond thrilled. So happy I chose Lasik Plus!

Update: post op 3 months, since I copied the above from my yelp review around March 12,2020. It is now June 2020 and my vision is fabulous and I stopped using the lubricant eye drops about 2-3 weeks after the surgery. I don’t have dry eyes at all, it is amazing to see with such clarity.

Amazing service, Fantastique staff, quick, professional, responsible, well mannered best experience by far from any other competitive.enjoyed every moment, amazing results couldn’t feel anything during the surgery got best results 20/20.professional doctor I’ve ever met.
Makes you feel at home the whole process took couple of minutes I got the results that I was looking for, recommended to go there to get your eyes done or any other treatment you’re looking to do for your eyes.
Thank you doctor for my new eyes, couldn’t ask for anything better than that.

Dr Karp is amazing! The office takes very good care of its patients. The process was easy and fast, the first with a candidate evaluation which takes 10 minutes and once cleared they schedule you for the procedure day. Prior to the procedure they send drops to your pharmacy to start. On the day of the procedure they go over post care instructions prior to the procedure, you take the Valium, do a second eval to make sure their numbers are correct and then take you into the procedure suite. The procedure takes 2 minutes, they first administer numbing drops (it's great you won't feel a thing!) and then they start. All you have to do it look at a flashing like and 40 seconds later you're done with each eye. I sat up and I could see right away, a little blurry but much better than before! I was instructed to go home and take a nap. LISTEN TO THAT! I took the second valium at home and napped for 4hrs. I woke up and initially my eyes burned and teared (this is normal). I ate dinner and went back to sleep for the night. When I woke up the next morning I felt like a new person! No burning, no tearing and almost perfect vision. It's been 3 weeks since I had my surgery and I can see 20/20! Some days one eye will be a little blurry than the other but it varies and I know it takes 3 months for your vision to completely stabalize. I thanks Dr. Karp and his assistants Denia and Heather for an amazing job pre, during and post procedure! Like everyone says I wish I had done this sooner.

All I can say is that Dr Karp is the most professional and talented Eye Doctor we have ever dealt with. He was on point with everything regarding my surgery. I had a prior eye injury which made my Lasik surgery a bit more difficult. Dr. Karp was there every step of the way and thanks to him and his wonderful staff everything came out great. Highly recommend him!

I am a biomedical scientist with several years of experience working with a variety of doctors, including ophthalmologists, retinal surgeons, eye researchers, etc. As a professional researcher, when I decided to have corrective surgery on my own eyes, I used all of my resources to do ALL of the research. I educated myself by reading EVERY single relevant case study, medical journal article, etc ever published and also extensively discussed topics with professional colleagues. I interviewed several specialist surgeons in the South Florida area before selecting one. I was repeatedly disappointed by either their lack of interest in their patients or their lack of knowledge about procedural variations and potential complications, or even basic knowledge about their own patient outcomes. So many surgeons (or the companies that employ them) are very clearly just trying to shuttle as many people through their LASIK centers as quickly as possible. Dr. Karp met with me personally during my initial consultation (aka- his job interview), and not only did he take some time to answer my questions, but he was actually knowledgeable enough about some detailed areas of the field to be able to answer them. While this seems like some pretty basic pre-requisites for any other professional to fulfill if they expect to be hired, apparently many eye surgeons feel exempt. Prior to meeting with Dr. Karp, I only met one other surgeon in the area who met this minimum criteria, but his price was also exceptionally high. Dr. Karp's price was far from being the lowest in the area, but it was reasonable. The service provided by Dr. Karp was of the highest quality. Everything important was provided. I assume he achieves this balance by working out of a simple, no frills clinic. However, he was knowledgeable, caring, and used top-of-the-line equipment for the important stuff. I want a good doctor, not a fancy waiting room or seductive salespeople. I elected to have PRK instead of LASIK because I would much prefer to deal with a longer recovery time but end up with a perfect eye with no risk of flap complications. My procedure went perfectly, and my recovery proceeded exactly as expected (Spoiler-It's not fun). **My only negative mark against Dr. Karp is that he did not provide any pain medication for post-op, and he seemed to be more optimistic about my early stage visual recovery. A few hours after the PRK surgery, the pain was very intense. As in you go a little crazy intense pain. Very bad pain for the next two days also. After that it drops to an easier to endure level, but it's a little sadistic to send a patient home to deal with that kind of pain with no medication. ***You definitely want to have somebody else drive you to the surgery and the next two follow up appointments*** The next 3 months were a bit of a roller-coaster, but this was expected. I took great personal care to do everything possible to minimize risk factors for complications. Good diet, vitamins, sleep, eye drops (BLINK drops are amazing), and religiously wearing quality eye protection against dust, impact, and light exposure. Some might say I went overboard.but 3 months post surgery, I had perfect vision with zero complications, not even the expected common ones. No haze, no dry eye, no halos, no distortion. My eyes are a little bit more sensitive to physical touch. I can say the same thing 9 months post-surgery. Being able to wake up every day and SEE is amazing.

Two more days until my LASIK EYE SURGERY, I have been wearing glasses since 2012 (I remember my mom thought I didn't need glasses she thought I was just shouting out I want them because of the trends going around in school and oh boy she felt bad 2 years prior to that, I was a middle schooler who always had a seat in the front of class because I couldn't even see a 14-22 font of writing or text. HOW IRONIC!) as of december 6,2018 i am a candidate for lasik surgery and grateful I WONT HAVE TO WEAR GLASSES OR CONTACTS -2.75 ANYMORE:)

I don't feel nervous, I have been waiting so long for this I thought maybe in my late 20's this procedure would be happening. DAY 3 ; i am great and working as if I didn't have major surgery, i am however experiencing the symptoms of " the halo effect " it does get very annoying at night of course but the eyes just need time to heal. Also having the urge to think I still need my glasses once I get up from bed I honestly had to hide my glasses in the closet and throw out my contacts lens box. No complaints NO WORRIES:) THANK YOU AGAIN DR. KARP AND HIS AMAZING TEAM

I wish I coud leave a 0 star review. This dr explained nothing and sent me home with a perscription for glasses after paying over 4k for lasik I am now told to get glasses. I called another location and they told me I am a candidate for a touch up by looking at my GLASSES PERSCRIPTION which I should have never received. I paid for lasik not to have glasses. Very dissapointed. So let it be know there is a catch to Lasik for life it does not exist.

Came here on a free consult, got a fair quote quickly, and then got LASIK a week later. Staff was helpful and patient with questions, soothing during the procedure, and otherwise invested in giving you the best experience possible. Had 20/20 vision for the first time a day after the procedure!

I had my lasik surgery done by Dr. Karp and I have to say I was extremely nervous. But Dr.karp always calm and reassuring from the start. I couldn’t have been happier with my choice, from your first consult to the procedure, Dr. Karp and Heather (nurse) were truly amazing! And I can see perfectly. As a matter of fact his entire office/staff are really great people. If anyone asked me where to get their lasik done I would say LasikPlus 1000 times.

Went here for a lasik plus surgery
Couldn’t have gone better. The staff was excellent and very professional. My vision is perfect for the first time in my life not 24 hours after surgery. I recommend this place to everyone. Thank you.

I met Dr Karp in my intitial consultation. (I had a few consultations and the others let me know I would meet surgeon day of surgery and also asked for a deposit for exam.) Dr Karp was thorough, he has new technology for exam, I paid minutes before surgery and he was friendly. I loved the same day results. I can see perfectly.

Dr. Karp and his office team are the best! It's been a week since my surgery now and I can see perfectly. I highly recommend this doctor, he is very professional and will awnser all your questions. He also made me feel very comfortable. The procedure itself is quick and painless. The price was very reasonable too. Make sure you bring your insurance card as sometimes it qualifies you for additional discounts.

Terrible manners. Knows nothing about thyroid eye disease. Shamed us for requesting a referral to an Oculoplastic Surgeon. Not sympathetic to my wife's emotional distress about the appearance of her eyes. Our insurance basically forces us to come here. We leave insulted every time.
