A dynamic diagnostician, a trustworthy, personable physician. Dr. Abitbol has been my gastro for over 20 years. He is a caring, thoughtful and patient doctor who really listens to your concerns. I highly recommend him.

I was referred to Dr Abitbol by my PCP back in April. Made an appointment that same day and couldn't get an appointment until June. I called to confirm my appointment and ask if there was anything else that was needed from my previous doctor (like results from my colonoscopy, medications, records etc.). The assistant advised me that Dr Abitbol does NOT take second opinions or any patients who have had a colonoscopy in the last three years. The fact that I waited two months for my appointment to be cancelled is just a shame and a sad representation of how little practices like this care about patients. Hopefully, in the future Dr. Abitbol's policy informs their patients ahead of time on this detail rather than have them wait months for an appointment just to tell them they will not be seen by the doctor.

I met this Dr only once three years a go! After having the colonoscopy, I had an allergic reaction to something it was the worst reaction I have ever had in my life I called the office they didn’t seem to care and she said to take Benadryl not concerned why or how I ended up with this reaction! Three years forward I made an appointment never saw the doctor again. His PA again unconcerned told me to take an allergy tablet before the procedure with all that i decided to cancel my appointment. I was right to do so, because the anesthetic with my new Dr knew right away that it was the oxygen, and they gave me a different oxygen mask! Today is my second day I did not have any reaction.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr Abitbol and his team. In my opinion gastroenterology issues can be very difficult to live with (as a patient and as a doctor). They can be life threatening, and so can the medications which are available to be prescribed. I started seeing him for issues in 2011. Dr. Abitbol was professional, friendly, caring, and sincere/straight forward with professional integrity. After the colonoscopy and endoscopy he prescribed medication and minor change in diet; I was fine after some time. Years later, I changed my insurance, relocated and had to go to another physician. I was put on Pantoprazole and after 2 years had severe health issues and hair loss. My insurance changed again and I was able to go back to Dr. Abitbol. I contacted his office during COVID times, and he and I had multiple telehealth appointments. For such a busy doctor he was only late once and we covered a lot in a short period of time. After the upper endoscopy, I underwent additional testing with visits to his recommended specialist at JFK Hospital. Then, eventually, Dr. Abitbol was able to get me completely off all medication with severe diet changes (not just laying off the coffee and tomato sauce) and minor lifestyle adjustments. I felt great comparatively, health wise. I'm returning for follow-up testing this week. His office had issues clearing my insurance, but they phoned late Friday, explained the issue and we left off that they'd call me Monday morning, for a Tuesday procedure (which they really worked hard to get for me). In turn, the surgical center called twice, made the appointment and gave me the price. Then, still without insurance confirmation, I called Dr. Abitbol's office to ask for the prep prescription assuming everything would clear on Monday morning. He phoned back within an hour and it was taken care of. But, through the weekend, the pharmacy hadn't received their shipment; expecting it at 10 AM. You have to be patient, everything is a process. In any event, I wouldn't go to another gastroenterologist. When I was there last year, the office was very clean, the waiting room is small but fine, and honestly I didn't look to see if anything was sanitized. I was happy to be seen. I wore my own KN95 mask so it didn't matter to me who wore what (I really don't pay much attention to this anywhere, it's a personal decision). I highly recommend this physician!
