Drop Anchor Resort & Marina, Islamorada FL

The hotel was so quiet and relaxing. We saw only a few other guests and felt like we had the place almost to ourselves. We had a maintenance issue and the front desk worker tried to get it addressed right away for us. The room was a little under decorated but was updated. We had cleaning service each day without asking and used the free bikes to bike around. We hope to come back!

We stayed there for a week. While we enjoyed the historical nature of the place, we were disappointed that the pool was heated the first night yet not after. It was a chilly week and the heated pool was the one amenity we could enjoy. The manager agreed there was a problem with the pool yet refused to accommodate us for the loss of a key amenity. Yes, the walls are thin. There were a group of workers staying next door and they were up early at 6 making breakfast and we heard every clink in the kitchen. It also sits right off of Hwy 1 and it is quite loud. If you're in a room that that doesn't offer a kitchenette, it is very bare bones. Not even a drawer to put any belongings. We will not be going back.

Check in and out was easy and smooth, the room was clean and comfortable however has an acquired smell. The views were beautiful and I liked that you could have a boat ramp access. I was very disappointed to learn that my credit card was charged an additional fee for property damage when we didn’t even use their towels. No one reached out to say anything! If I didn’t check my credit card statement my money would have just disappeared. When I contacted the resort the nonchalant customer service agent said that the property manager would look into it and give a call back within 24hrs. He did not call back, I had to call. This was unacceptable and I will never again book or recommend anyone to stay at Drop Anchor. Make sure you check your credit card!

Walls are very thin. Can hear people next to you really easy. Paying for view and location. Stain on bed cover also there was a bottle water cap in the sheets of my made up bed. Office personnel leaves at 6pm so there is no front desk after that.

We genuinely LOVED our stay here. The concierge on our check-in was beyond welcoming and kind. I didn’t catch her name, but she deserves recognition. The grounds here are a treasure. So beautiful - the beach area and pool were incredibly clean and comfortable. Sunrise and sunset here are absolutely incredible, maybe even the best we saw on our week-long trip throughout the keys. We spent many hours lounging by the clear blue ocean. The complimentary kayaks & SUP were a fun touch! Everything here was pure perfection for our mid-December trip, with the exception of one minor issue in the room. We had 5 people in our two queen room with a pullout couch & unfortunately, the pullout is basically unusable. The springs were felt to the touch of the mattress. The sheets for all the beds were a bit scratchy, but for the price we could definitely overlook that. Beyond this, seriously, this place was our own heaven. Stay here, you won’t regret it!

Our room was very clean and probably recently updated. This resort is likely pretty old, but extremely well kept. The people that work there are great and that Donna at the front desk was a 10 for sure. We brought a boat and their dock is just right and has really good bumper poles. We plan to go back next year.

I ended up staying here by happenstance and had one of the greatest nights of my entire trip. Magical views! So many mosquitos.

We plannned a couples trip here months ago based on recommendations from friends. The entire stay was truly disappointing and underwhelming for the price the resort is charging. The resort is under new management and our reservation kept getting canceled due to a new system. It took several phone calls prior to arrival to comfirm our stay, and I was still not even sure we would have a room. When we arrived our room was not ready so we took the boat out and the troubles continued. There where 4 boat parking spots for everyone to use at the resort which was an additional charge and the main reason we chose Drop Anchor. Most of the pillars where gone from a storm supposedly some time ago. Our entire stay we struggled with boat parking. Once we made it into the room, it was very run down and dirty. One of the two beds sunk in after night one and every kictchen utensil was disgusting or non existent. Again, another reason we booked here was to cook some meals in. You would need to bring everything to cook if you wanted to eat in; from forks, sponge, hot pads, skillets. I will say the resort was quiet but our last night a large family came in and ruined the atmosphere for all. We where one of six families to complain the following day since the office staff leaves daily at 5pm. If you needed any towels or anything it had to be during buisness hours. Not the kind of place i will ever return to or refer to anyone who is looking for Keys vacation.
Literally the worst stay for the price, be ware and look at other near-by resorts before staying here!

My husband and I have not had a vacation without kids in years and this spot was perfect! We stayed in the king suite and it was clean and spacious for the two of us. We rode bikes and kayaked too. The view was amazing! Overall location was great too! The Mgt was always available and accommodative too. We will definitely go back. We give this place 5

I'm a returning customer. First time I spent my anniversary with my wife here and this time I brought my kids for Easter weekend. This is a nice quaint hotel with kayaks and paddle boards and beautiful scenery and very nice front desk service. I'm not planning a larger group to come back to this hotel.

Rooms are great for price and location! Chill atmosphere! Pool is right near the water. Kayaks and bikes available to rent. Several hammoks and picnic tables around. Very satisfied!

Absolutely loved our stay here 2 weeks ago. Super clean rooms & really spacious. We stayed in room #12 and the parking spot was so big we got to leave our waverunner trailer attached to the car. That alone was amazing! The sand bar is a short distance away you can see it from the beach. I will definitely be back again!

Kind of a throw back, 50's vibe. Clean and spacious. There were lots of outdoor areas to relax and enjoy the grounds. Definitely a change from chain hotels/ motels.

Adorable little resort. Quiet and clean. Our room had a great view and lots of space. The staff was helpful and my paddleboard outing was wonderful (kayaks are available too). Our favorite activity was watching the birds come in whenever someone was cleaning fish.

The ocean view and lighted palm trees are amazing. Fantastic views. The gentleman who checked is in was really nice and helpful. The main rooms are clean, the shower is good and you have hot water. The trailer you can rent is not a good idea. The floors were sinking in and it's tight quarters from the bathroom to the bedroom. One night was good but for me, that was enough. The rooms really need updating.

Relaxing, clean and not crowded.exactly what a true vacation should be. The location was excellent, the landscape, pool, sitting areas were fantastic and the accommodations were beyond perfect (a family suite). I saw complaints in reviews about the property before booking but I would say people are so picky and probably should be at a 4 or 5 star resort if they are that picky. The suite had everything we needed and we cooked at least one meal in every day. Waking up.listening to the birds, watching the clear views of the ocean and swimming in the heated pool daily were at the top of the list. You can move from sitting in chairs to laying in the sun or shade. You could walk into the water and swim if you wanted from a little launch path used for kayaks (which you can rent there as well) Honestly the most relaxing vacation in a long time. Thank you for a perfect little "key" spot!
